  1. If Willie comes back, he better have a few more dozen pounds of pure muscle on his frame. Many players lose weight during the season. There is absolutely no excuse for him not to be alot more physical going forward into next year.
  2. ...For SLU to reconsider becoming a football school again. Basketball is clearly a secondary sport in the grand scheme of the current conference realignment drama.
  3. Since you are smart enough to be a Bills fan, you are smart enough to skip a few classes when the need arises.
  4. I think Cornell proved this year that Ivy League athletics should probably be taken seriously.
  5. I can't think of another coach who did as much with a bunch of youngsters as RM.
  6. Rammer and Earl are great. They are as much into the game and the program as any fans are. This comes through during their broadcasts.
  7. Congratulations to Theresa Lisch for being selected first team Academic All-American. Pretty impressive!
  8. Does anybody think Webster Groves is more athletic than McCluer North?
  9. ...behind the SLU bench during the Xavier game? If so, hopefully he was impressed with the overall effort and atmosphere.
  10. Apparently, SLU had numerous decent looks at the basket at GW. The coaching staff is responsible for getting the players in a position to score. RM cannot make jump shots for the players. If SLU shoots 40% rather than 12%, we lose by 7 or 8 points and there is no hysteria.
  11. Does a team's rpi reflect the strength of schedule based on opponents' cumulative record, or just their record or rank at the time that SLU played them? I am asking this because Pitt has now lost 2 starters for the season due to injuries, and will likely end up with a mediocre record as a result. They were a legit top 20 team at the time we played them.
  12. Doesn't Duke have a stud freshman from Oregon? I wonder if he and Conklin ever matched-up against each other in high school.
  13. The candidate would probably expect an adequate budget prior to accepting the position.
  14. RM has stated many times that he is coaching this year's team for the future, and that he would coach differently if he wanted to win now. The players probably have been told this as well. I don't like watching a program lay groundwork for future years at the expense of the current season's won-loss record any more than anyone else. Maybe we just need to accept reality at this point.
  15. ...was better than we realized at the time. Our perimeter guys don't seem to have the time and space like they often had last year.
  16. DB's minutes despite not being at full speed were a reflection of the lack of adequate backup talent last season. Not wishing anything bad for him but if he is not significantly better this year, his playing time will probably be appropriately limited.
  17. Question with regard to recent discussion about BT vs. other bigs: Is it easier for a player with skills to become a power player with skills, or is it easier for a power player to become a skilled power player? I personally think that it is easier to build muscle than it is to build a reliable, in-game shooting touch at any position. That is why I think BT is a great get for SLU.
  18. My dad began taking me to Billiken games in 1960. I have attended over 75% of the home games ever since. Before every game, the SLU marching band would assemble on the stage of the old Kiel Auditorium and play the bullfight song followed by 'when the saints go marching in', while parading a lap around the basketball court. The student section was down low across from the benches and scorers table, at midcourt. The freshmen team would always play the first game, followed by the varsity. We were personal friends with Bob Polk - came over to the house from time to time. Very nice guy. I still have a couple of blue and white miniature basketballs that the cheerleaders used to throw to the crowd during the 60's.
  19. Does anybody get the feeling that PSL's for the new arena, with the new coaching staff and higher profile recruits, have just gotten more expensive?
