  1. Figured you to be a fair-weather fan.
  2. This is the best SLU sports team of my lifetime (and I am 70 years old)!
  3. Just got an e-mail from Chris May advising that there will be no fans at our first two games, nor will there be any for the Ladies Game on Sunday. Not really a surprise.
  4. Thanks you Band for treating us to a rousing rendition of Sweet Caroline last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Now let's hope we get to hear it many times in the future.
  5. I am not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I was stunned to hear the band shut down after the game without playing Sweet Caroline. I know it was late, but the few people left in my section had all waited around after the game to hear the band play our favorite song. We haven't had very many opportunities to hear it over the past few years, and I left the gym a little sad because it wasn't played. I hope it will be played again after any future victories. On a separate topic, a friend pointed out that Hines is wearing Dick Boushka's #24. Hey guys, that number is hanging from the rafters, how can he be allowed to wear it?
  6. Ken Pom's argument also provides support for The Wiz Top 25, which has Syracuse at #17. After reading this article that rating makes a lot of sense.
  7. Does no one recall the Craig Upchurch fiasco? Qualified by the NCAA but rejected by SLU?
  8. Not too worried about NMSU, we are going to show them some ball the likes of which they have nevet seen. I'm with '72, though, I am very worried about matchups with the Oregon, especially their cheerleaders. Last time I saw them they seem to be really athletic.
  9. A10 Champions, regular season and tourney. Congratuations to the team and the coaching staff, what a fantastic accomplishment. Thank you for this wonderful season and good luck in the Dance!
  10. He may still be in mourning that GW finally lost a game to SLU...
  11. I was assuming that the game Saturday would start at 1:00, but a check of the schedule shows a 12:30 starting time. Can anyone confirm that the actual tipoff will occur at 12:30? And will the Seniors be honored before the game or afterwards? For most of the past 30 years, Seniors were honored before the game, and then RM changed it to be after the game. I hope we can find out for sure and spread the word so a full house is in their seats to thank Kwam, Cody and Cory (and Femi too). Each of them had quite a rollercoaster ride in their college hoops career, and deserve to receive a resounding thak you from the fans.
  12. At the risk of getting ahead of ourselves, Butler's loss to Charlotte last night gives us a chance to be in 1st place alone in the A-10 with victories in our next two games. With the home cooking, I like our chances of getting that done.
  13. One of the best things about today's win is that it may be our last trip ever to Olean. If so, how nice to leave with a victory!
  14. And don't forget Tavolo V across from the Pageant, which makes a very similar thin-crust pizza in a wood-fired oven.
  15. Our guards have been making many excellent entry passes this year, the kind that a big just can't fail to catch and put home. JJ really excels at this, and his five assists in the first half of the NM game were just things of beauty.
  16. I was watching KSDK news live last night, and before going on a commercial break, they said that they had news about Billikens basketball and Jordair Jett. As a longtime fan, I instantly feared the worst, that we were going to lose JJ for some reason. It was a painfully long couple of minutes before they came back and ran this very nice feature on JJ. I cannot explain how relieved I was, contemplating our conference season without JJ was not fun! Go Bills!
  17. KC's playing time began to diminish in the first X game. I thought that it was simple matter of MM and JJ being better matchups with X's quick, and small but solid guards. And then of course MM stepped up his game and took the starting job from KC. MM's performance last night, playing the entire game and leading the team in rebounds, said it all about these decisions. If (when?) we play Temple again, I look for KC to get more PT against their taller backcourt. We will need a contribution from him going into March, and I believe that his "D" will be it.
  18. Amazing to see articles about our Billikens in the P-D, even though it's not on a game day. I'd say we're breaking new ground, eh?
  19. The Huskies played a terrific game last night and did everything but win. Watching them play had me scratching my head about how we could have had them down 25 points at halftime, and 29 points during the second half. I think the difference that day was our Canada trip and the extra practices we had as a result. I think we were just better prepared early on, and seeing Washington now, it is clear they are coming on and will do some major damage to other teams as the season progresses.
  20. Thank you for sharing your experience from Sunday! And a special thanks for the link to BC's pick and roll. That was a play that none of us are likely to ever forget!
  21. I agree, I didn't take the classroom demands being a priority as a negative at all. At the outset last night, RM pointed out what great students these guys are, saying that he has three legitimate Academic All-American candidates on the roster. He also said that once mid-terms are over, they will have six-hour practices Saturday through Tuesday. We have a terrific group of kids this year, and they have to put aside everything but classwork and basketball to be a part of it. A couple of additional observations: GG has great athleticism and is very entertaining to watch, but he will foul out in four or five minutes until he learns to channel all that energy. Still, a nice addition to the team. Also, my heart stopped when KM limped off the floor and sat behingd the basket standard for about 10 minutes before heading to the locker room. It waas wonderful to see him back on the court later without any ice packs or crutches attached. I guess he just rolled an ankle and will be fine. Whew!
  22. Good points, 72. The fact that I forgot to include Corey in my list is just another indication of how deep we will be. And I did not mean to say that our reserves would come off the bench in exactly that order, nor that the lists of starters and reserves would shake out exactly that way. Still, this roster of players could put on quite a show for us next year!
  23. This thread has me daydreaming about the possibilities for next year. A starting five of KM, JB, KC, RL and WR. First off the bench is CE, followed by MM, JJ, DE, BC, CS, JM and possibly PE. Change the mix of starters and reserves any way you like, we will be extremely good. It may be too much to hope for that all these fine young men are still here, but youneverknow, it could happen. Please don't wake me up until next fall!
  24. I agree that he should redshirt this year. I don't see how it would be possible for KM to earn his degree in the next year and a half, after which his scholarship will expire. I don't think we are going to The Dance this year regardless, but we might the next two years under his leadership.
  25. Thanks to all who contributed to this most entertaining thread. And my apologies if this has already been said, but I think we can all agree...... It's just not easy being a Pelican fan!
