  1. Agreed. The frosh have plenty of talent. Maybe it didn't come together like we all would have liked, but there is definitely talent there.
  2. The really interesting thing to me is that with two upperclassmen transferring, we will remain a very young team IF we bring in 4 freshman to go along with our 6 sophomores. The good thing is that the freshman all will have a lot of experience relative to most sophomores. Despite what others say, I saw marked improvement in Reggie and Mike Crawford. I also saw material improvement in Davell, Marcus and somewhat in Reynolds. So, we will remain very young and will really need a definitive leader to emerge to corral and lead the talent we have. Without that, I see a .500 at best season next year. One point that deserves consideration is team chemistry. I have no idea who on the team did not buy in, but IF it was McBroom and Lancona, then having them gone is huge. If it is remaining players...
  3. And buy a sh!tload of Windex. Just sayin'.
  4. Does anyone else find the radical mood swings of posters on this board amusing? Less than a year ago, people here were talking about possibly returning to the dance, 20 or more wins, etc. now people are talking about next season with fewer wins than this season, fired coaches, a failing program, loss of season ticket holders, etc. People always overreact both on the upside and the downside. It's part of human nature and, at times, it is very entertaining.
  5. Ok. Then you and I are at polar opposites in terms of our evaluation of athletic and general progression of human beings based on practical experience.
  6. Yep, but it is true.I asked one of my coaches how I could really do better in an upcoming race. She looked me straight in the eye and said, "Run faster". She was right and it was that simple.
  7. Honestly, do you really believe that all the freshman are not going to be better after a year of D1 ball? I mean, is that an honest statement of what you truly believe?
  8. Probably. And 4 out of 5 posters here are probably wearing tinfoil hats!
  9. Just an FYI - There were seasons past (not sure how long you have been following the team) where our OOC schedules was very tough.
  10. I have listened to the criticism of the freshman AFTER all the praise they received in the recruiting process. I also distinctly remember some posters commenting negatively about Loe, Conklin, Jett, etc. after their first seasons. I even remember people b!tching about Lisch being too slow/unathletic to be effective. Same for Highmark. This group of freshman has played ONE season with effectively ZERO senior leadership and minimal playing experience from other players (sophs, juniors). Just like the the posters who were ridiculing Taj for doubting our inclusion in some kid's top 144, this is the same thing. Last year, many of us (including me) bitched about playing time for the sophs. In retrospect, it got us to the tourney, but it clearly hampered development of the sophs. Here is the bottom line: let's give these kids (remember, they're 18 to 19 year old teenagers for the most part), and their coaches, time. I never expected more than a .500 season, so maybe I am not so hurt and depressed based on this season, but I think everyone should take a step back and consider both the history of the program and the reality that SLU is not a destination school for top 100 players and THEN come to conclusions about where the program stands. If we land a great top 100 player because someone leaves, great, but, at the end of the day, TRUST THE PROCESS.
  11. Well Doc B, you disappoint me. If you can't discern that a bunch of guys on an Internet board know way more than a guy with 30 years of coaching and playing experience, then I don't know what to tell you...
  12. I say we just disband basketball at SLU. Clearly, all is lost.
  13. Yeah, but to get the gist of it you have to read through a ton of crap!!!
  14. Super long threads that rehash and rehash are annoying. Just saying.
  15. This is truly a tragedy. How much worse can it get...?
  16. +1. I like that interpretation!
  17. Isn't "trust the process" a reference to Clagett's tweet? Or is it more general?
  18. Some people make the most of life...and some people spend their time trying to get others fired...on a message board. Go figure.
  19. Crawford and Reggie for sure - both have already battled back from injury/illness. Roby and Reynolds seem to have the fire, maybe Jolly. I am not sure if I am more worried about MY coming back unmotivated and out of shape or leaving...probably the former.
