Which is the sad state of this country. Trump's consistent level of support (43-45%) tells me it does not matter anymore who the candidate is. We are now just a country of Republicans, Democrats, and people who don't pay attention.

The federal government can't order the economy reopened and make everybody go back to work. Sure, they've sent out guidelines, but closures and stay-home orders have come at the local, state, and private-sector levels and not all local or state governments are issuing stay-at-home orders (see St. Charles County or state of Texas). For the rest, the orders to reopen will come from them when they feel the time is right. Offering hope and optimism is fine assuming its not false hope and optimism. Trump is and has been offering false hope and it just gives people a false sense of security so they go out and do stupid things like go to restaurants, bars, churches, or beaches before the spread is stopped. And then we're just back to square one again. The fact that we are now the country with the most confirmed cases in the world is a testament to how truly awful and inept this administration really is. We had months to prepare, make testing widely available, and put in restrictions, but instead they chose to bury their heads in the sand and tell everyone things were fine. The most truthful thing Trump has said in the past 3.5 years is that he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and not lose any voters.

I haven't reviewed the whole thread, but beating then #2 Louisville behind Marque Perry's crazy performance is probably my favorite moment. Helped that I was also still in school and the after party was quite good.

This is my sentiment as well. The impact of this thing is going to be huge regardless, but doing little would be catastrophic. Taking immediate action and providing as much immediate relief as possible is still the best course of action.

A little history lesson below. I heard about this on the radio yesterday and it's clearly the inspiration between the CDC curve graph I posted earlier. This blurb is from Quartz, but I think it quickly captures the necessity of all of these actions. "In 1918, the city of Philadelphia threw a parade that killed thousands of people. Ignoring warnings of influenza among soldiers preparing for World War I, the march to support the war effort drew 200,000 people who crammed together to watch the procession. Three days later, every bed in Philadelphia’s 31 hospitals was filled with sick and dying patients, infected by the Spanish flu. By the end of the week, more than 4,500 were dead in an outbreak that would claim as many as 100 million people worldwide. This graphic has made its rounds. It's what brianstl was preaching and what the Holiday Inn Express patrons on this board seem not to grasp.

All good points and I agree with nearly all of it. That said, I do think being a good floor/Xs and Os coach can be helpful in the recruiting process.

Other than Salecich, none of those guys were actually Rick's recruits. He promised nothing to them per Roy's revisionist history scenario.

There's some validity to this, but the proposed transfer rule would also negatively impact the continuity of mid-major programs. All in all, it's an awful proposal for the sport and for schools like SLU.

I would have said no at the start the of conference play, but now I'm not so sure given that so many teams have similarly weak resumes.

Nobody said anything about kicking him to the curb. IF he can't play, I'm sure the program can find a way for him to remain at school but not on athletic scholly (ala Femi John). If he can still play, then he can choose between playing out his final 2 years here or transferring and getting a fresh start somewhere else. At that point, it might even be possible for him to get an extra year with that team. But redshirting him and keeping him on athletic scholarship for an extra year only makes sense if you think he can actually be a good contributing player for 3 years. I don't think anybody on this board (or the staff for that matter) has seen anything from him to date that would lead one to believe that's the case.

Only if you think he'll have a significant role with this team going forward.

I'd be shocked if the team goes for a redshirt for Hankton.

I'm not shocked by how this season has turned out, but I am a little surprised. I am, on the whole, very happy with it given the injuries we've had. In most seasons, losing FT and GJ--both of whom I thought would be top 5 players this year--would end the season. Hard not to be very pumped about the future as well as the present.

That might be true for a game vs. some non-local interest opponent, but I don't know if that's true of the big local rivalry games. Like I know Mizzou has played Temple in a home and home during the past 2 years. Solid game, but not likely to move the needle for the average fan the same way a SLU or even Missouri State game would. My point is also not just about direct ticket sales. Outside of the true hard core fans, college bball isn't generating enough interest in November and December and more games like SLU-Mizzou are needed. The move to the SEC was also an awful move for the Mizzou bball program, so they could use all the buzz-generating games they can get.

Bingo! And I'd argue this isn't just a Mizzou problem. While I love the game, college hoops has a regular season problem, particularly with its non-conference schedules. There are just too many crappy games or games in half-empty stadiums. The more schools can schedule teams that generate increased local interest, the better. And while Mizzou fans can say they don't care, a game against SLU would be a sell-out in either gym.

Or....the governor actually does support the stadium project, but is not fully in sync with his staff who are actually the ones that held up the credits.
