  1. Not sure where you heard this - there was never any actual offer made. Trust me if Louisville really wanted him he would not be here on Monday. Rumors or talk is just that.
  2. Few of us on the Board really know what actually happens in the AD. Subsequently, it is hard to know what the temperature is in it. I would think the new President will want to do some kind of evaluation of all the departments and get some type of information via a survey or focus groups regarding each department. If whoever they hire doesn't do something like this then a mistake was made. No leader worth their salt would simply take the word of a few who have everything to gain by maintaining the status quo. Given the huge fight colleges will have with each other over the shrinking pool of students available to recruit, no leader of a school can be complacent. Once the data comes in and is evaluated, the AD may paint a picture that May won't be happy with or perhaps would be. From my perspective, I see lots of signs of dysfunction and lack of competence. Examples are getting 5 free tix for some sports 2 days before the event and expecting us to actually do something with them - lack of planning. Another is calling the tix office with a question and having to leave a voicemail that may or may not usually be returned. A third is not having SLU police officers visible when people are walking to and from their cars/parking lot given the City's fair or not reputation for crime or directing pedestrian traffic after a game when cars are exiting and the pedestrians cross against the light. I know he has been told about this and the matter never gets addressed properly - I am amazed no one has been hurt yet. Keeping the safety of your clients should be a key objective. What these examples point to is a lack of attention to details and that is usually a sign of poor leadership. All I know is that the fish rots from the head down as so the old Chinese proverb says.
  3. Actually I went and read several pages at Sycamore pride and I didn't think it was all that bad. Typical stuff and nothing that all out of sorts. Basically what they are saying is that a big money donor - Chaiftz - bought him and that is not far from the truth. Yes there are a couple of crazy people but that is to be expected. The guy who said we were terrible to Ford on the Board is not wrong but honestly, that was like calling your brother a name and then getting into a fight with someone else who did the same. Never any death threats as a couple talked about on our Board so not sure where that came from - probably projection.
  4. Not hardly it was long drawn out thing with him being the 3rd or 4th choice so we kind of had already dealt with him leaving early in the process.
  5. Brian may take exceptions with this
  6. Well steel yourself because if he does well here he will be a target and probably leave.
  7. No big coming here now will be acceptable if they can't shoot the 3 and pass. None of our current bigs can do that.
  8. Their coach had LeBron in high school I believe - actually makes sense.
  9. Apparently, he did but hiring a women's coach is not as time sensitive as hiring a D1 men's coach is - just look at how quickly schools have moved this cycle. The top women teams have long time coaches who simply don't move that often.
  10. I think our new President will have a bit of a different view on May's leadership. When this person is hired they will hear from the big money people who at the very least will say - keep your eye on him. This Ford fiasco has wounded him. You don't get Chaiftz yelling at May in public in Chicago after the L of C game if everything was hunky dory.
  11. I have no doubt he did swallow his pride but I can assure you he did not do it voluntarily. He saw the train was leaving the station and he could be on it or left behind. If one thing about May is true - people in general, they will survive. I am not sure we have really disagreed on much lately maybe some nuances but basically we have been on the same page on this matter. I have tried to respond to this poster with logical and respectful comments. I see nothing wrong with that and his response to me has been respectful.
  12. I doubt May is driving this bus. Chaiftz and others pulled this off. There is evidence that someone else's fingerprints are all over this situation. May's MO is to drag it out and take a very deliberate and slow decision making approach. This moved with lightening speed.
  13. It seems that is so but then I am sure the salaries the assistants will make more here than at ISU so he will be in a better situation to do so but we will have to see.
  14. Clearly defense is secondary to him but this why you have assistant coaches. You hire one who knows defense and can teach it. We will see what kind of coach he is as we watch him fill out his staff.
  15. It was only bad management because the players did not make shots at the end.
  16. If what we heard about the 2 million annual salary is true it would be tough to pass up - that is almost 3 Xs what they are offering. As far as the NIL situation goes, he apparently got what he asked for - in fact someone posted that they were going to raise 3-400,000 for NIL is true then that also is well below us. Now all that said, I would be remiss to not point out that I have been saying all along that until the announcement is made officially anything can happen.
  17. Fair enough but this is not something that they just heard today it has been out there for pushing 3 weeks. They surely have had enough time to be moving through the stages of grief by now.
  18. I understand that the ISU fans are upset but for the most part this Board has been supportive of the ISU NIT run this year when in reality it would have been in SLU best interest for them to have lost early. The other issue that I find odd is are they really that naive to believe that Schertz was going to stay for a long time - even we understand that if he is successful he may be gone fairly soon from here.
  19. It is out of business in case you didn't know
  20. I doubt that Tate is contacting all these portal players without some direction from Schertz.
  21. Don't you think if Schertz is really coming that the players already know who he wants to keep? My guess is Bruce is not one of them.
