  1. This Team is a work in progress as most teams are. However this team is in particular is be cause of all the new players the Ford has needed to incorporate. As tough a loss as this was the take away for me is they are improving. TF teams since he has been at SLU have had rising trend lines even with his worst team. This game was close enough for me to think we will have a chance at Dayton, and we will beat VCU at home Rhody on the road...to be clear a tough loss, feel this pain and commit to improve!
  2. It puzzled me. Yuri dove after a ball and hit Francis’ left side, but he hurt his right shoulder, looked like he might have had his arm extended. A shame to see happen.
  3. I agree without the disagreement. Perkins is an offensive threat. He is still adjusting and shots will start falling more. His defense is getting better. He had three plays within the offense that he scores because of his agility and adeptness. 1) Yuri fires a pass at his feat, he short hops it and puts it in, 2) French had a nice assist to him but the pass was a bullet, not even a bobble, and the last one a drive to the left of the lane bodied up by his defender and shoved still had the body control to get the ball upon the glass and in. Should have been an And One !! He needs to play with defensive intensity but I think he is improving..
  4. Ok I boil this down to one play. End of the game missed shot. Conklin did not get the rebound did not screen out Draymond Green. French in place of Conklin at that point I would take in a heartbeat.
  5. I share that concern, but suspect with time he will adapt. Duquesne will be an interesting matchup.
  6. Yuri is playing, at times, like and upper classmen. He has some bonehead out of control plays but he has highlight assists of high technical difficulty. In the first game he drove towards the left baseline, around two defenders, as he passed them he was looking at the court, his options were Gibson and Jacobs, Gibson's man started to help, and Yuri fired a pass threading between the closing defenders, before they knew what happen Gibson was splashing a 3. My favorite pass from game two was after corralling a loose ball he fired a sweet bounce pass instantaneously to JG out in front of him underneath the flailing arm of his defender to give JG and easy layup. I believe Ford told him that was a “sweet pass” if I read lips right. The rapidity with which he sees the opportunity, decides to make the pass and makes the pass is astounding. I would expect a Freshman to be more tentative. not to be out done JG had some sweet assists too. Particularly one to Jacobs, as he came around a pick moving to the basket. Jacobs slipped but was able to handle the pass, and make the layup.
  7. It is a good trend, does not change much, but the perception is SLU is moving in the right direction. My daughter is a sophomore and loving it, really challenged yet succeeding. The new Dorms go a long way to make the campus more appealing.
  8. This schedule is rounding into a pretty good schedule....hope the young, old and new guys gel quickly.
  9. Regardless, Jacobs looks like he has put on some muscle!
  10. The problem with transfers is the potential baggage that comes with them. Not always as good as Bess or Isabel. I would prefer to get a freshman that you get 4 -5 years to mold into the kind of player you want. Reap those benefits for a longer time like we are seeing with French and Goodwin....
  11. And after he announces, Martin has known to still be in the chase
  12. I do not see it as an evaluation tool, but a metric to assist with practicing, shot foot work etc. coaches have commented how Thatch shoots so well in practice, but has yet to in games. Now you have something that might show a difference as to why. Comparing practice shots metrics to games shot metrics may help. Regardless the work will have to be put in, it is not magic, benefit will have to be earned.
  13. I am interested to see how this really works. High tech data collection sometimes is information searching for a purpose. However, it will be interesting to see how it impacts the players. The app is available to download, and apparently was used in the NAIA tournament last year. There were also selected games from the the conference with San Diego State and Nevada. That we can look at. The article Dr. Chaifetz tweeted about talked about release angle, speed and many data points that I do not see available currently but will have to see how it progresses. Anyway if you did not see the article check out the twitter feed below : https://t.co/IwmxwDglxP
  14. They also listed Rick Pitino’s NCAA Champioships as 2, but then comment that he forfeited one. I wonder how that effects his winning percentage. Suspect it does not.
  15. Winning percentage only elevates Mark Few, and devalues Tom Izzo. But interesting list thanks.
  16. and even with that the NCAA would just penalize the Blue Demons
