  1. As I recall 8 million is what they had to start, I bet it is not an accurate figure.
  2. Lane oops I mean Ricky has already graduated wsuring his stint in Boone County Corectional facility and now he is applying for law school at SLU.....
  3. I have been wondering about this as well as the meaning of life, and I would suggest that there are a couple of reasons. 1. Perhaps they have no clue... 2. They have a clue, and have been instructed not to say anything definitive, for fear of having it fall apart, or for fear it may hurt schools who are currently not in the long term plan, as they shop for a division themselves I am sure there are other possiblities but when I have had a similar conversation with another person in the know, they were vague generalities discussed, and then in a hush voice (lean over so no one hears...) message was that SLU would likely be in a conference with other like minded schools. Moreoever it is clear that the Jesuit presidents are involved and not disengaged.
  4. IT appears to me that much of the jockeying regarding timing of additions of teams, exit fees, entrance fees and the number of continuous teams needed to maintain BCS and automatic tourney berths will determine the timeline. I think in the end (i hope) CUSA and the Big east with work out a timeline in which the football big east expands enough to keep their BCS conference spot, and CUSA admits enough teams to remain with 8 continuous members (the actual name of this conference though may be Big East USA) I think the A10 will stay intact.
  5. 1. As for the contact with Conley mom it is quite clear that it is an infraction. It is my understanding that is a major infraction, not a minor infraction. However Mizzou has claimed it to be a minor infraction, however I have not heard that it is minor in the NCAA's eyes. As for conspiracy theories, I wonder how in depth the NCAA will look into this, the less they look the better for mizzou, however if they are serious they will impose further punishment than mizzou has inflicted thus far. Recent decision UW and Michigan are good examples. agian they may not be apple to apple comparisons.
  6. What Missouri a definite western state.....sorry being from California the Northern and better half of the state, Missouri is NOT a western state. St. Louis is more similar to eastern cities than western....but it is a moot point. Thicks I think your main point regarding geographic integrity is right on. It does not exist, and it does not need to exist anymore. In Fact, geography is why conferences initially developed, but money is why they are realigning, and this sportwriter ought to realize that, if he is worth his paycheck.
  7. exactly when did Mr. Katz research this, and perhaps what he is really hearing from the BE is what they would like to do, their dreams etc, but they are likely to need to face the reality of the situation. Basketball and Football schools are no longer a good mix. I certainly hope the NY times is more recent and accurate.
  8. juco transfers and D 1 tranfers are different. Examples H waldman, Johnson (the one who came from Miami or U of Fla. Reggie Bryant would fall into this category he has practiced with the team now for a year.....and I am sure he is raring to go.
  9. when the Eric last name is typed correctly he comes up with a verbal to cal. But where did they come up with St.Louis?? Oh well no press is bad press.
  10. IT is rivals reports about day two of nike. They do not list him in their database. I have no other info.
  11. This is just the blurb form rivals hoops, do not know if it is a typo or not.. 6-foot-6 St. Louis bound Eric Vienizeal handled the ball brilliantly in the open court and played strongly around the basket
  12. I read this as the NCAA committee my change the final bracket on selection day. Then it would be final. Not that they would change it the following week. I think this is just so that the can make up for stupid committees. I think they are probably preparing to change the Regional names from midwest to St. Louis regional, so that in the future it will be the Gatorade Regional final in St.Louis......the dollar speaks.
  13. I agree that marquee was a great player, and many times did not let last years team give up. However I see Sloan and Drejaj picking up in the heart category for him. I also think the whole of this years team will in toatl make up for marquee's loss. However that will not mean they will be good. How good this team becomes will depend on how well Brad evaluates this team and compensates for their weaknesses, and how well they come together as the season prgresses. Remember last year was not a stellar start despite having Perry and Brown.
  14. I do not think what Claggs said is at all offensive. How many college students have the "full college experience" probably less than half. I would think that SLU though is now almost a diffenrent campus than what clags had when he was there. But again there is no football team however now the soccer games are on campus I think he was gone before that happened. However, Mutgr as a member of the unwelcoming committee I would be remiss without making you feel uncomfortable about expressing and independent thought, that does not further the cause of Billiken basketball. Get this crap off this board (just kidding)
  15. that if this does come to pass then 6 big east football school and six CUSA football schools make a twelve team division with championship game , and the ACC would only have eleven..(although I am sure they will add one school soon) It really Echoes what I thought I was reading between the lines of the CUSA's comissioner's statement.
  16. as what I heard SLU not being interested in a certain player, because they "wanted someone who could start next year"......to me that means juco or impact freshman, I think a juco is mor probable.
  17. Add Dayton and Xavier to the big east basketball, and you have two nice geographically defined divisions.
  18. Interesting thing about this guy is that when the NBA measuered him he was only 6'8".....but they still described him as a baby Shaq. I gathered by the article I read that he was more of a power forward...so maybe Ian will continue to play
  19. isn't there a Diener on the womens team!?
  20. Thanks for the post. One almost gets the sense that something is in the works....
  21. I think this fits with the idea that the heads of CUSA and BE have been talking, and I suspect if something is brewing, then CUSA would have to cut the non essential products out. I would not be surprise if schools were told there is something in the works and at the moment, I would look for your best position......
  22. Please correct me if I am wrong but Isn't cusworth the kid that went to an Ivy league school and Romar tried to get him to walk on at slu?? IF he is the same guy, then Husak is not who he should be compared with it should have been Hollins and Kern as SLU only had two scholarships that year.....then the Romar leaving debacle and Pulley and Edwin flunked out leaving Brad with an urgent need which he filled with Ike, drejaj, Bryant and JJ. also it is not Ahearn vs clarke it is the need that sways who is recruited. IE a back up at the 3 spot, which graduates a senior (SLOAN) the following year or a 3rd 2 gaurd (behind Bryant and Drejaj/Fish) Fill the need first.
  23. Not sure what I typed to Butter33 that was so unwelcoming, but I am to busy for a welcoming committee anyway. I nominate Steve.
