  1. Any players there today? When does the dirt moving start ...tomorrow ...next week? Any luminaries who might have the $$$ for naming rights. Estimated attendance? Sounds like a great day...also sounds like UB is very upbeat and plans on being in St. Louis for awhile.
  2. Jeez, you guys are making me think Shimmy should have the men's coaching job...hey the first woman head coach in D1 ball. How's a recruit gonna turn her down?
  3. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...soldiers/3.html Cnnsi did a pretty good article on the recruiting game and summer AAU ball. Must read for V Time. If the two players highlighted in this article, who appear to be ok players and good kids, lived in St. Louis you'd be all over UB to offer. Read this, you'll see it's not always so cut and dried. What was interesting was the asst coach saying "we've offered 3 kids at your position, and we're taking the first two who commit." Not hard to see why the kid took it on the spot since there weren't many others showing interest. Got to figure SLU does the same thing, however, we must be after much better players, since no one's aceepting our our open offers on the spot.
  4. Big cry baby get over it, porridge boy. He get you that I'm a SLU DAD sweat shirt yet. That'll sure to make you a hit at Bearcat games.
  5. So, Vtime, Mark Few spent everyday last summer in the gym with Morrison while he shot 500 3's everyday? Look, who knows what happened to Polk's shot, but he lost it. You don't score 38 points in a championship game w/o being able to put the rock in the hoop. I think DP's shooting woes are mental, ie loss of confidence. Whose fault? Anyone's guess. Let's just hope he exorcises his demons over the summer and finds is this season. DP can be a valuable asset to this team with his handles, quickness, defense, and attitude. We need him.
  6. Nah, they ain't the same. His sign off to his mother wasn't there. I don't think he'd post without making his grief public.
  7. Got to like this preview...an NCAA bid...Go Bills. Only disappointment was not seeing KL or TL make at least second team all conference. Is that a reasonable expectation for at least one of the two to do it and the other an honorable mention?
  8. Oh so it was UB who shot about 25% last year? Hmmmmmm?
  9. He's just an angry little boy, Roy...I think his anger stems from a sad childhood. He's the board's resident Sybil. Flyphan, Billiken TK, just a few of his AKA's. But he's kind of fun to kick around...even though he's really a Dayton phan.
  10. No good reason, Shoe, other than I'd like to read something about the Bills, other than some of the tripe that's being posted here these days.
  11. Right on Phandango, I was definitely knocking the PD. Your grasp of what would be obvious to even the most casual observer is indeed impressive. Probably picked up that skill from those online correspondence courses you took in Journalism at Phoenix University, huh? I want to thank you though, for answering a question I've had for awhile. I was wondering why newspaper readership is down across the country, but now that I know you're a news paper man, it all makes sense. But hang in there Billie Phandango, your work is appreciated by a great many caged birds, cats, and puppies who "read" it for the same reason I wear those depends you are so fascinated by.
  12. I'm just hungry/anxious for some write up by someone whose supposed to be in the know. Fordham made it...if we don't this guys getting some kind of e-mail....Tired of being ignored by the so called national media.
  13. No, besides it's 5 am est....just a random thought. Thought you'd for sure agree the PD ought to do something.
  14. that with the groundbreaking ceremony just days away, the PD sports department would be planning a lengthy story on just why this building is being built. Here we are a private institution in a time of great national uncertainty and anxiety pouring $75 mil into an entertainment complex. Why? It can't be because of our teams sparkling performances in the past. It's not due to an overly enthusiastic student body screaming for an onsite facility. It's not because we have some Mr. Got Rocks alum whose dying to see his name up in lights on I-40. It's not that we play our current schedule in some rat infested dilapidated ninety year old arena. Yet, Fr. Biondi deems it a necessary financial risk for the school to take. I am not against the arena, in fact all for it, but it still begs the question why and why now? Hopefully, such an article would give all SLU alumni, students, and fans some insight into what's behind Fr. Biondi's desire to see this project realized. Maybe there's been such an article, but it wouldn't hurt to update it Mr. PD Sports Editor.
  15. Agrre with both you and Broy that stability at the HC is the cornerstone for a top program. That said, if stability doesn't bring success, defined as annually in the top 50, then what good is it? The next two years to me are UB's over the hump years. If the program hasn't moved beyond two games above .500, a no show in the Dance, and recruiting classes that don't create some buzz about the future, it's sayonara time. This would also conincide with the opening of the arena. While I hope UB is at the helm for the arena's premiere game, if he hasn't achieved certain goals by 2008, it's time for a new era to begin.
  16. after the Tsunami called the NY Yankees just gutted our Beloved Red Sox.
  17. I'm surprised Hugs didn't get him to transfer. After careful review of Hunt's situation, the university decided he has reached the maturity level in social, etchical, and behavioral to be allowed to play. Translation: We need those 9.5 ppg, and he's graduated which makes our grad rate look better. Wasn't this guy also involved in the fur coat scandal at MU?
  18. C'mon Taj Mahal '79, don't you want to see some preseason love too? Don't you want others to see the promise we see in our beloved Billikens? Hey, recruits may read this stuff for all we know. If the national guys think we aren't in the top 144 along with a whole bunch of mid major types like Albany and the Marist Red Foxes, what's that tell a recruit? These guys really must suck!
  19. 220 is PF size...hmmm wonder if he's the 4 again? Agreed, he's got to hit those 10-15 footers like he did in HS. Still think DP is the key to this shooting thing. If he demonstrates he can knock down jumpers be they 3's or 15's this makes us a different team, because of his quickness. Assume he and DB make the giant leap this year, I'd rather see DB off the bench, unless there are real matchup problems, and have DP out there setting a fast tempo for some easy hoops, ie TL jams, KL wide open 3's, his own 3's. Agree w/ Pdiddy too that it would be good to see IV step out and hit the 10-15's. Just think what problems that creates for defenses, especially if we get a legit 4 who can rebound coupled with TL's ability to pull down offensive boards. Face it this team's success is going to come down to how well the 3 and 4 perform this year. If we get the same old same old...we're probably only going to win a game or two more than last year. But an upgrade at those spots, we're looking at 4-5 more wins.
  20. Yeah, but you don't want to be left out...and it's always good to see what "national outsiders" think of your chances. I did a little calculating on this: Of the Major conferences, The BCS boys, A-10, and CUSA...there are somewhere around 53 teams that haven't been named from these conferences. So in effect these 53 are competing for these 38 spots, plus you can toss in a handful of mid majors that might take some. The name mid majors: Gonzaga, SIU, Nevada, Wichita St are already in the top 40. So there are probably 60-65 teams left. Did we make enough of an impression last year to make it...only time will tell. That said, I do expect to see us any day now. I'm obsessing on this preview, I know, but after getting barely a line in ESPN's conference preview, I'm anxious for any little tid bit about this season. We sure aren't getting it from the PD.
  21. Powell, according to Vtime, shouldn't need a visit unofficial or otherwise, he's dying to come to SLU we just haven't offered.
  22. I hope we're they're fall back and not behind door #3 or 4.
  23. on CHN preview. They've listed the top 40 (X is there at 25). They are down to #78. Are we going to make it?????
  24. I'd be surprised if any of our 4"s becomes an offensive threat this year. Think the most we can hope for there is he can rebound and defend. But who knows. I think KL showed he's the shooter, but it would help him tremendously if he had another threat out there.
