  1. If they can play this way all the time, they will be a factor nationally next season. The talent is there. It looked like NC really had trouble figuring out the motion offense. If they hadn't gotten away from their offense for several minutes at the start of the second half, who knows?
  2. >I'm not wild about that idea. Who is going to rebound? I agree. Really giving up a critical part of the game. Of course, sometimes what coaches call "guards" these days would not have been so termed a few years back. There are a lot of 6-6 small forwards called guards today.
  3. Sports franchises in the St. Louis area have no idea how much of a fan base was built for them by being on KMOX. I became a SLU fan solely and purely because of listening to Charlie Spoon on KMOX.
  4. It is sad to a 52-year-old from Arkansas who grew up listening to the Cardinals on KMOX, and then became a Billikens fan purely because of listening to the games and Spoon on KMOX, and even got a little interested in Blues hockey for a while. It is like a part of my youth fading away.
  5. I see that KFNS will be the flagship station for Billiken basketball broadcasts. Does this mean KMOX will not carry them?
  6. SLU and CUSA have had a reputation for tough inside post play. The A-10's reputation is just the opposite. Anything to that? Advantage Billikens?
  7. >I've been desperately trying to think of a handful of >basketball coaches who drastically changed their offensive >approach after they got better athletes. Unfortunately, I >haven't been successful. Eddie Sutton's offensive approach in years past was very deliberate, but now OSU is very uptempo. He went with the talent he had. The constant is taking good shots and defense. By the way I love your Oscar Robertson quote.
  8. >Not to be too obnoxious but did this just strike you, right >now, this second? Nope. It's been obvious for a while, but I don't post very often, and just got frustrated to the point I did.
  9. This team cannot shoot its way out of a wet paper bag. That is the problem, pure and simple. The size is there; the experience is there. We just cannot shoot.
  10. >Think Wes Unseld >with his great outlet passes. True. The best there has ever been at that. And they said he could not play center in the NBA because he was too small.
  11. American basketball has gone through a period of time when everyone was trying to be Michael Jordan, and athleticism was the thing, not good basketball. Maybe we will swing back. We need Oscar Robertson and Bob Cousy again -or maybe just John Wooden, who hates the dunk and the 3-point shot.
  12. >I have great respect for coach Green--he is like our coach, >a tough man who has tough players who play hard on both >ends. You said it well, and I agree entirely. USM teams play hard-nosed, old-fashioned basketball. That was one game I really wish I could have seen. My kind of basketball.!
  13. He is averaging 3.25 points/shot. That is tough to do!
  14. In all candor, until somebody steps up to replace Perry, we have it to prove.
  15. > >Obviously, A-10 is the best fit for SLU and Charlotte now >but it will be a step down from Olde C-USA. I don't know that A-10 will be all that much of a step down. Last season Sagarin had CUSA #7 and A-10 #9. In '02 it was CUSA #8 and A10 at #9, and exactly the same in '01.
  16. Atlantic 10 is a good basketball conference. It has a higher priority there.
  17. There was a discussion about SLU on the Vanderbilt basketball board recently. The question was asked if SLU is a sleeping giant.
  18. >the statement that stuck out the most from the show for me >though was right before a commercial break. you know how >frank does those bullet questions where he wants a short >first thing that pops in his mind type answer. he asked >what brad thought of bob knight. brad said, "i wouldnt want >my son playing for him." Mr. Soderberg just impressed me no end by that statement! He must be a class guy.
  19. Maybe it is a misconception on my part, but it appears that everyone is taking it for granted and Reggie Bryant will get the nod over Darren Clarke. Curious why.
  20. I hope one of the new recruits is a bona fide rebounder (at least 6+ per game), because that was definitely one thing we have lacked, and will need even more with Kenny gone.
  21. OK with me. I like the hard-nosed style the Big 10 plays.
  22. Any chance Brad will go with a 3-guard line-up. (I hate 3-guard lineups.)
  23. Want to venture what the starting lineup will be next season?
