  1. We had a really tough group on that team: Tatem, Heinrich & Baniak. If a opposing player made a drive to the basket, they were mugged.
  2. They are very unforgiving at UCLA. We don't hold a candle to Bruin fans. Cronin won everywhere he's been. Murray State, Cincy & UCLA. Take him in a heartbeat.
  3. I thought it was with the Mountain West and our games with Boise was part of that.
  4. My neighbor across the street here in Nashville is a Joey alum. He's an old guy, he attended St Joseph's when Jack Ramsey was the coach. He's a fan but not a big fan. Last 2 years (since we both moved in about the same time) I invited him over to watch the game on my big screen and enjoy my special chili. This year I told him I have another commitment. Fortunately I do but any normal Bills year would have gotten out of the commitment.
  5. Funny, that year I was at both SLU-Memphis games. Jan 13th '73 game at the Mid-South Coliseum, Bill "Bumper" Parodowski got us tickets. They were hottest tickets in Memphis. We lost 60-72. We were in it most of the game but the Bills keyed on Finch and left Laurie open and he killed us. March 3rd '73 we blew them out 70-56 in the Old Kiel. Harry Rogers went ballistic on them. the 72-3 Billikens was probably one of the most under-rated teams ever. A shame no NCAA or NIT.
  6. Would you have considered Shaka Smart a retread when Marquette picked him up? Actually I thought UMASS getting Frank Martin was not bad. On the other hand Archie Miller does not seem to be working for URI. He may need another year. Will see. Like anything its a crap-shoot. The key is not to give a practically no-fire contract like we seem to have now. That you can control.
  7. Okay, I agree. Who responsible putting together the OOC schedule? Usually the coach. Also, its not like the old days when had to compete with 'Disney on Ice', tractor pulls and the Blues to get a game date.
  8. Really think so? Other than MSOC & WSOC none the other non revenue teams (men's and women) can compete on a national level. We are in the A10, a big difference than the old CUSA and Great Midwest. The only thing that counts is win that season ending tourney. Even if we do win a A10 non-revenue season ending tourney (which does not happen often, UD and VCU seem to do well in that regard), we are a high seed and out in the first round. BTW: it was discussed here the possibility of moving to the AAC. It would be a disaster for the non-revenue teams.
  9. This is going back but Gary would call in at every show. Both of them would go at it on strategy. Recall one conversation, Majerus offered courtside tickets to an upcoming game to Gary and Gary refused. It was funny how Majerus responded. Recalled another show when Majerus and Rammer went at. That was kind of ugly.
  10. Majerus did it. How can we forget Gary. The problem with CTF doing it, who would bother tuning in.
  11. It all came together Feb/Mar. From Feb 1 through the A10 Tourney they were 10-1. That's peaking at the right time, not luck. The few games I watched on Espn+ back in Nov/Dec to the season ending games, it was a totally different team.
  12. I have been around for a long time , recall when we dumped Grawer for Spoon & Sodie for Majerus we had a large cadre of fans that balked. It's the way it is. BTW, each case the program improved significantly.
  13. Is that stat just against us or all D1 games? I have never seen one. Kind of amazing pulling that off and still losing. Fortunately, we shot lights out.
  14. Yea, when Sprinkle was out getting viable transfers, Ford was sitting by the phone 24/7 waiting for Malcolm Danridge to call.
  15. Good post. Only disagreement with it is Jim Crews being a great coach. I still get PTSD flashbacks of Yarbourgh doing his 'coast to coast' and then getting jammed. I maybe way off on this but wasn't it Bondi did not want to spend the the NBE entrance fees to get into BE back in 2012 but it should been May's job to sell it and explain the huge potential of being in that league. We also blew the opportunity to get in the old BE back in 2006. We had great ADs in the past with Yow and Albus. They had the insight of the time and knew how to think out of the box. But unlike today, they worked with very little support and resources making their results more impactful. We need to replace May with someone at that level.
  16. Did I hear it right from Highmark say about the Utah St coach, he had to recruit 11 players after April 15th. Unreal, look what Ford put together. And Ford making the big bucks.
  17. Jimmy 'the locomotive' Bell Jr is putting up some nice solid numbers at a now ranked State. Shame that one got away.
  18. I was in attendance. Recall also the year before IU was in the NCAAs. Attended those also. If you recall Memphis was in the finals. A few weeks prior we blew out Memphis at the Old Kiel. Shame that team was not selected for the NIT.
  19. Yea but just the previous year (Kansas-UNC-two of the glamour blue blood schools) was one of the highest. I would think that your average casual fan, who maybe watches 1 or 2 games during regular season wants to watch a team he recognizes or reads about.
  20. Looks like nice weather for this evening game against Lipscomb here in Nashville. Sunny and in the high 70s. I was worried because the weather here has been brutally hot with deluge thunderstorms in the late afternoon. Plan on making it up to the game. Been awhile since I seen the Bills play soccer. I seen them play at Charlotte many times and in a tourney at Furman but those were years ago.
