  1. White t shirts will be given to all who attend. They will again be put on the seats before the game.
  2. Apparently he is a very bright young man and a talented player. I am impressed that he signed with the Billikens because of our academics and our prospects in basketball without knowing who the coach will be. Sounds like an ideal Billiken to add to our outstanding crew of young men who are good at basketball and intend to achieve championships.
  3. He looked like be belonged on a different stage. Quite the outrage. Why would anyone think that looked good?
  4. Hard to learn if you think you are already there. Our players work hard at being a good team and work hard in the classroom so they can play. I am getting the impression that while he is a talented player, his early exit is probably a good thing if he was the odd man out on this team of men. If what I am thinking is the case, if he thought he came here for RM , and had Rick survived to coach him, Rick would surely have been his most brutal critic. If he wasn't coachable he and Rick would have had differences.
  5. Chris May commented that there was strong interest in the job when Mertz was hired. I assume there would again be strong interest from capable candidates. I trust we will get a good coach. Not sure what happened with Kat but maybe we just can't compete pay wise and support wise at this point with a team like Oregon. I am disappointed that she wasn't more committed than to just give one year. Maybe if I knew all the facts I would understand why she made that decision.
  6. Steve, When you get time will you let us know how the fund raiser is progressing and where it stands in relation to the goal/need.
  7. To me his situation was curious to say the least. I am still not sure what the injury was and have heard it described variously. I got the impression that he didn't want to play and kept having new pains. I think his comments after the announcement were likely not genuine. Maybe we will never know and maybe he was just homsick, but something strange here.
  8. Chris did eat with Bernadette but he also visited around the room as he usually does. Do not underate Chris May. He has been working hard and will continue to do so.
  9. She is indeed. She will be a part of something good.
  10. I have watched several games on the internet. Last year I started to watch most games but lost interest. I think Lisa Stone has already improved the team incredibly and she really lacks players. I think we will be very pleased with this hire and very quickly. Lisa is going to build a solid program. Another good hire.
  11. There was a very small contingent of protesters in front of the museum for Father Biondi's holiday party last night.
  12. I am so grateful for what he did for our program. Hopefully our team will dedicate this season to Rick and have better results than last year. It would be a fitting tribute to a basketball genius.
  13. Thanks for what you do Steve. This is a great board by comparison with many others. Check is in the mail.
  14. This tournament was a home court for Kansas, the bands not alternating time, the seating arrangements, the halftime Kansas show, the officiating, no Billiken gear in the the t-shirts area. I get it that Kansas City is a Kansas town but this was a tournament in which all participants should be treated equally. Kansas is a great program, no doubt. They were clearly the better team last night with what we had to work with. But I am proud of our kids, they are student athletes. Tell me that Ben McLemore is a legitimate college student. We know that he is a talented player but he is not college material unless it is a very easy college or they give special consideration to good athletes.
  15. One notable local recruit for the women's team is 6-3 Sadie Stipovanich, Steve's daughter.
  16. Trust the computers. Do not trust the human voters. It is so obvious. Their vote means almost nothing.
  17. Billikens end regular season with 4-0 win over Butler.
  18. My understanding is that Crews has not and does not communicate with Rick.
  19. Crews has stated that no one on the team has had any contact with Rick at the family's request.
  20. I remember the Walgreen's from '65 thru '69. Also remember the lunch counter at the Woolworth's across the street.
  21. The Billikens "traveled well" to Columbus. We should do even better in Kansas City. I will be there. A win over Kansas would be quite a statement. And a lot of fun.
