Obviously you haven't been one on one with coach as his enthusiasm and true genuineness (if there is such a word) comes through in an instant. Does he have the polish of some face people, probably no. But in the context of what you are asking, I would think he would take no seconds to most D1 coaches around. Charlie would wow you with his aw shucks charm and his stories, Coach Romar could sweep you off your feet with his presentation....but with both when you were driving home you weren't sure if you were seeing the real man. You don't get that feeling with this guy. He is real, and there is no smoke screen about him...what you see is what you get. He got this job by impressing the search committee with his enthusiasm and true belief in what he was trying to do, and how SLU was the place he was meant to do it. match will not take place at soccer park tomorrow night. I had to call there twice to find anything out and today I got a call from someone in the know. The web site is wrong about the location. The MSHSAA women's state finals are tomorrow nite. They tried to have the match moved to Springfield, MO but the weather got in the way. The soccer park was to call me to let me know more, but no one called. Apparently Daryl Doran is involved in this ST L Striker club, but it is hard to get anyone to give hard info on all this. I have always thought it be better for whomever the Bills partner with next year, Pasta House etc. to offer an incentive if the Bills win and hold the opposition below 70 points rather than score more than 70. That would encourage the faithful to make extra noise when we are on defense (since we tend to stress that aspect of the game so highly) rather than when we have the ball. And get rid of the Harpies! I was again impressed by the gut performance of our center Tom Frericks. After making his first free throw, the tremendous pain he demonstrated was obvious to us all. With a gesture of his hand he waved off any attempt to take him out for the second shot. Just before that second shot, his eyes and demeanor harkened back to Rocky I, where he picks himself up off the mat to continue again and again. Thank you for your dedication and heart, Rocky Frericks. Please, though, don't put your final year of ball for SLU in danger to play on for the Bills this year. One difference between the start of the careers at SLU for the two coaches. Coach Romar kept saying how the cupboard wasn't bare when he arrived at SLU. He inherited a team he could do things with. Coach Brad had a LOT of work to do when he arrived as HC to flesh out a roster. Now he knew the players better, since he had been with them for a year.
