Does anyone know how close they are to paying this baby off? How many of my $millions$ do they need? mhg

One thing I'm really encouraged for next season is the Serbian kid's step back 3. Saw quite a few of those in his highlight reel. Now did he make 10%, 15% 25% of those???? Who knows. That is what will make this season interesting.

We havent really heard one way or the other…seems like an uptick in foreign born players since he arrived, though Also, since a number of them are freshmen, might take a couple of years to truly know about them. mjg -

Yes. But a strategy of paying when you graduate might attract a type pf player who would buy into the long term, ‘team chemistry’ approach of Coach Ford. It is risky for sure, not many would buy into this. I see it more like Coach Majerus’ red shirt approach of having a core of 5year players who are more mature, buying into his system. No, I am not comparing TF to Majerus, just the systems, just the approach. It requires patience on our part to see how this works. Players van still do their individual promotions for $ now, but the NIL $ comes later, right? -

Im showing my age here, but Charlie Newberry was as slick as they come. Might not have had the roster top to bottom that others had, but loved watching him play. mhg

Gibson Jimerson Returning?

Zac, I would have to disagree on that one. Hughes was our best guard defender at the end of the season, IMHO. GJ improved alot, but Hughes was superior. mhg -

If it’s done properly. It should give you the defensive matchups you’re looking for. We did it it so far away from the key, the opposition was able to slip through the screens. -
None of us is paying his salary. How much he is paid is meaningless. We can discuss strategy, approach, uniforms, Team Bluesy, and whatever. But his salary should not figure into our discussions IMHO. I dont give a rat’s axx what he gets from SLU. What i do care about is results, the type of program he runs, the kinds of players I can be proud to say they are/were Billikens.

Agreed re staff role. It’s up yo the players to perform. It cant be all on the staff. If it is deemed the scheme, the approach was defective, then there should be a change. My opinion the hand wringing on the schedule is pointless.
-
Roy I agree there was a problem with approach by the staff. But no small part of it was players under performing. Very inconsistent, variable FT percentages from game to game. Okoro regularly fouling the same way early each game. Yuri driving late in games getting blocked. Last year many ‘tear drop’ shots, this year not so much. I give Perkins a pass, Pickett was banged up, too, at times These guys played like they either dont know how to set a pick, or use one. Is that the players or the staff?
-
It isnt scheduling. It’s winning. Of course schedule smartly, but just win. All this hand wringing over schedule I dont get. 1-Find players that can hit 3’s from deep AND play defense. 2- Find guards with quickness to prevent dribble penetration. 3- Reverse the defensive decline. 4- Bring back the chain necklace for the player with the most rebounds. 5- Devise schemes that accentuate the players’ strengths, rather than the staff’s perception of the type of team they want. Im no coach, just an MBM with eyes. To me it’s plain in front of us. Sorry for the rant. mhg
