Sod outfield. I’m still in disbelief. Throwing good money away literally. Should be turfed!

So if May put in turf would you be on here saying turf is unhealthy and real baseball is played on grass?

I'm not so sure college bball overall is in great shape. Attendance and tv ratings seem to be stagnant at best. Football realignment will continue to screw with basketball. I think it will really hit fans next year when they get a load of some of these new "conference" match-ups which were precipitated by the football money grab.

I was commenting on the tournament. Don’t have Nielsen numbers but I believe I believe it’s still must see TV. I certainly know it is with my family and friends.

@willie: La Salle got smoked at St. Joes.  Why only ask me about them when they win wills?  Fun Phy is a great coach and he is playing a man down w/o Anton Gill but Gill ain’t THAT good.  They played a weak OOC.

Have had the chance to watch Duquesne a few times.  Dumb basketball team with low basketball IQ.  Clark and Grant shoot way too much and Mahorcic is awful.  Tre Williams playing out the season quite disinterested.  But we get them at Palumbo.

Davidson looks like a basketball team from the Deep South pre-integration.  Not good when Grant Huffman is your go-to guy.

Fordham plays good defense.  The Bonnie’s are still searching for themselves.  Still think this goes Dayton/Joes/Bonnies but VCU has some good athletes and Geedubya has two good freshmen in Johnson and (some 6’7” guy who’s name start with Bee).  We already lost to Mason.  We are a PIG team for sure —-likely with La Salle there Willie.

It took you awhile for this

  4. If this team has any chance of winning games down the stretch Parker has to be the man. Jimerson had very few open looks tonight . He forced a lot of shots that he had to force. He needs another scorer to take some of the pressure off him. I also wish TJ would drive more. Don’t have stats but I think his conversion rate is pretty good.

Quick update for former pitcher.   SLU alum Miller Hogan got as far as AAA with the Rays but was released before last year due to injury.  He pitched will last summer in an independent league and is currently having a dominant season in the Puerto Rican winter league.    It would be great for him to get an MLB spring invite.  Yo Moreliak, Cardinals could use some more arms.

You type about as well as I do Moreliak

  6. This might not be rocket science but I thought the team {Ford} did a good job at the end of the game. With 7+ seconds left he set his defense up at half court trying to take away the long pass. He had  Jimmer foul not giving up the 3. He set up an inbounds play and got the ball to his free throw shooters. For a man who we say can't coach he didn't screw it up.

TJ has been a very good player all year.  He certainly was off last night though.

TJ should have had about 16 points. He missed a lot of easy shots. But I will point out he got a lot of easy shots. Some days they just don't go in

This is very true. I was skeptical when he was hired. Many talking heads questioned it, particularly Slaten and Charlie Tuna

Slaten and Tuna. Now there is the epitemy of unbiased knowledge. Both hate SLU.

The $10 million figure didn't come out of thin air. We've been talking about it on this board (and on MMP) for a while.

We know Ford makes $2.5 million per season.

We are fairly certain he was renewed in 2021.

Coaching contracts generally go for 5 years.

We've heard rumors that his contract has an auto-renewal feature that extends it by 5 years unless either party declines at the end of a season.

We have reason to believe that may have happened in 2023.

So that would put his buyout at $10 million (or possibly $7.5 million after this season, if I understand how the structure works).

You are making several assumptions here. Contracts also include buy out numbers. If also a rumor that there were people wanting to buy him out last year why would May extend ? I also question the 5 year number. The question is what was the length of the 21 extension?

The only reason I don't trust it is because I don't believe the money men have any interest in paying for a $10 million buyout.  Or paying a humongous lump sum. SLU boosters paying more than Oklahoma State boosters to get rid of a coach?  On what planet?

I have no idea what his buy out is but I think this acceptence that it is 10 million based on some twitter poster is wrong. I would be very suprised if it is anywhere near that high. One of my peeves about this board is someone throws out a number or statement based on speculation and it becomes gospel.

If the team makes a run when Parker returns, the case can be made that this injury-riddled, defensive disaster is an aberration. Add a defensive stopper and upgrade the point guard position and we're right back in the mix.  Which is probably true.  And remember, the money men WANT the sales pitch to be true.

There have been a lot of convincing cases made to make a change at the end of the season.  But none of those cases suggest a course of action that the BOT would actually follow.

The BOT is going to act on recommendations from May and Fred P. They are not going to independently take up a coaching issue.

The Mighty Explorers of LaSalle, down a key starter in Anwar Gill, withstand multiple Fordham rallies and the raucous Rams’ crowd, to steal an 82-77 road victory. Fran Dunphy = Legend!!

    What do you think Taj?

Our point guard play is woefully inadequate to play in transition. When Yuri was here we could run a little bit. Hargrove and Thames are the only guys i feel confident running at full sprint. You saw enough of Meadows and Medley last night to know that high tempo transition play is impossible with this roster.

We have to slow it down way more, stop turning the ball over, and fire treys from NBA range and hope they go down. If we hit 40+% we can win(at least 45% to have real confidence) .. if we are under that, we lose. I've been beating this drum for weeks. Y'all can't see it?

Speaking of shooting 3's someone on this board pontificated earlier that TJ should never shoot the 3. At well over 40% YTD he needs to shoot more.

A portion of the endowment is not liquid. SLU’s endowment is used for disbursements for designated funds, but the endowment serves a large purpose as collateral for debt issuances that they use to finance capital projects like new dorms or academic buildings.

This is a good point. SLU's debt is I believe AA rated. This is a very good rating allowing the school to borrow at lower rates. I am sure the Endowment is a large part of the rating.
