I noticed in the front section of the Post that we had an add for half season tickets. $245 got you a nine game package. It seems to me that our athletic department has been doing a pretty good job of trying to sell tickets. Free hot dogs,half tickets,billboards around town and I'm sure smaller packages yet to come are signs of better marketing effort. I'm also hopefull that they will spend some effort to upgrade their in game promotion. Some of their employees like Koshe and Declan have been around for awhile and may be growing into their jobs. In any event I think they are trying.

I would hope that they would go after Ramsey especially if they would get the Billikens. The program Ramsey is on now is god-awful. Fescoe might be St. Louis's all time worst talk show guy,yes even worse then Monty. I think this is what May has been waiting for. I'm not sure how you would handle the first half of the year but I know the money from KFNS was not good.

Several people in this thread talk about how valuable and what a good job Thorpe did.{thats also my opinion} It begs the question why did RM let him go? Did they have personalitity problems,or was it just he's not my guy? Anybody got any real knowledge?

This whole tread has been misleading. Kim Tucci is still the president of the Billiken Club. What was announced was Mary Alice has resigned as the president of the Tip Off Club. The Tip Off Club has no real authority but is more of a social club. The Tip Off Club's first meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9th.

I think this is a huge point. If RM is the coach I think he is he will figure out how to get them more shots, and still stay in his system. This team will go as far as they can carry us. I thought RM gave them more freedom latter in the year and I would hope they have even more freedom this year. We'll see how long it takes for Tommie to get a clear out.

Kim has been the president of the Billiken Club since it's inception. Just maybe he decided it was time for some new blood. I'm sure his support for the program has not changed. This man is involved in many activities. He's not a spring chicken,maybe he wants to lessen how many meetings he goes to. To my knowledge he is still a member of the Universities Board of Directors.

Mrs. Yates was the best field hockey coach SLU has ever had.

Ron Ekker-Father O'Connell & Father Fitzgerald. Very high interest rates which almost broke the university to the point that there was zero money left for athletics. We had practically no endowment money and a bunch of short term debt in a high interest rate enviroment.

Larry Albus was a visionary. He invented the big name doubleheaders which brought together regional powers to play in St. Louis. These doubleheaders were the forerunner to many of todays tournaments. He had UCLA play NorthCarolina State[with David Thompson] in one game and SLU play somebody else in the 2nd game. There were other games like this but I'm too old to remember who played whom.

I was listening to Frankie's radio show as I was driving to a meeting. It was his roundtable show with Rich Grawer and Tom Holley. Someone called in and asked if all of SLU's freshmen would be eligible. Franks quick answer was "yes they are all here". Someone also asked about open practices and all 3 said no one has open practices anymore. In part they blamed the internet where everybody knows everything. I do wish they would have a few open scrimages so Bauman, Skip and I would know whats going on.

I agree with your numbers for Lohse,but I don't think they're realistic. I think your going to see more like 60 for 4,and that might be low.

I'm not sure I agree with your statement. While we don't have a Mike Hampton contract we certainly tied up a lot of money in Molder,Carpenter and Edmonds.

I was listening to some baseball show and they calculated that we had 30 mill. coming off contract. This does not take into account that Rick Ankiel can go to arbitration and that will cost many millions. I believe Carp and Wainwright both bump up a few mill. No matter how you clculate it they will have over 20 million to spend, plus the money they didn't spend this year. Let's hope Mo spends it well.
