  1. Most people believe this market can't support 3 all-sport stations. The betting would be that 590 is the loser. Just let Frank and Ramsey go to 101 and we'll all be happy.
  2. There really is not any difference. I think they keep the Tip-Off name in deference to it's history. For 40 years or more the Tip-Off Club was the only support group for the basketball program. It was run independent of the university, ran it's own membership, raised it's own money, had it's own checkbook. Sometime in the late 1980's the university thought this was a bad idea. The university and the NCAA wanted institutional controle. In a hostile takeover the Billiken Club was formed and the Tip-Off Club was folded in. I think they keep the name out of respect for some of the former members. It also provides some difference between basketball supporters and the rest of the athletic dept.
  3. You can get info off of slubillikens, com.
  4. I'm not trying to be a smart ass but it is the one single thing we can all do to support the program. I'm not sure if the minimum membership is $100 or what, but it's not that high. Booster Clubs have become very important in the support of college programs.
  5. I think Steve should make it mandatory that anyone allowed to participate on Billikens.com should be required to join the Billiken Club. Seriously you should join.
  6. Strickland also said that ticket sales were up 20%. Their marketing plans seem to be paying off. I give them an A for effort.
  7. Roy, that is actually funny. Maybe they think Dec. 13 is a prime Christmas party night and they are trying to avoid evening conflicts. I kind of like the time. Go to the game then go out and do something.
  8. I think there may be some times when we will play a 4 guard offense, with Tommie playing the 4.
  9. They did announce that RM is suppose to be at this months Billiken Club meeting. It's also being held at Lorenzos[sp] in the Chaif.
  10. Just heard an add on 1380 offering 2 Billiken season tickets for $790. I'm sure that will piss some people off. I'm glad they are trying to fill the building.
  11. We can debate this point but I thought Majerus gave Tommie and Kevin more free lance opportunities late last year. There is a fine line between running an offense and being allowed to create on your own. I expect Tommie and Kevin to create their own under Majerus's structure.
  12. You would assume they would pay some kind of dividend. Unless there is some kind of formalized profit sharing, profit might just flow back into the company.
  13. They could do that. A big picture of you pointing to a purple dodge neon.
  14. I noticed in the front section of the Post that we had an add for half season tickets. $245 got you a nine game package. It seems to me that our athletic department has been doing a pretty good job of trying to sell tickets. Free hot dogs, half tickets, billboards around town and I'm sure smaller packages yet to come are signs of better marketing effort. I'm also hopefull that they will spend some effort to upgrade their in game promotion. Some of their employees like Koshe and Declan have been around for awhile and may be growing into their jobs. In any event I think they are trying.
  15. I would hope that they would go after Ramsey especially if they would get the Billikens. The program Ramsey is on now is god-awful. Fescoe might be St. Louis's all time worst talk show guy,yes even worse then Monty. I think this is what May has been waiting for. I'm not sure how you would handle the first half of the year but I know the money from KFNS was not good.
  16. Taj. What do you do for a living? Do you get paid for every word written?
  17. Several people in this thread talk about how valuable and what a good job Thorpe did.{thats also my opinion} It begs the question why did RM let him go? Did they have personalitity problems,or was it just he's not my guy? Anybody got any real knowledge?
  18. I think you might be a little premature here Ace. Let's wait and see if they show up. I hope it's like soccer, but I need to be shown.
  19. I think you are right on. Who knows maybe Rammer switches stations.
  20. Tip-Off Tonight at Humpries at 6pm.
  21. Whether you like the guy or not you have to agree that he is a hell of a pitchman. There was not a kid in St. Louis who didn't want to drink High 5 because it contained Zink. The guy can sell. He was far and away 590's top revenue producer.
  22. This whole tread has been misleading. Kim Tucci is still the president of the Billiken Club. What was announced was Mary Alice has resigned as the president of the Tip Off Club. The Tip Off Club has no real authority but is more of a social club. The Tip Off Club's first meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9th.
  23. I think this is a huge point. If RM is the coach I think he is he will figure out how to get them more shots, and still stay in his system. This team will go as far as they can carry us. I thought RM gave them more freedom latter in the year and I would hope they have even more freedom this year. We'll see how long it takes for Tommie to get a clear out.
