May had a choice.  He made the wrong one.  You don’t get a pass because you were unwilling to make an unpopular decision with the local media.  That is why you hire an AD in the first place.  There were plenty on here who were not happy with the decision at the time.

And there were plenty who were happy with it at the time. I believe it is revisionist history that there was an outcry at the time. May had no choice. Not all our choices in life turn out to be correct. If you want to go back and show me your posts to the contrary I will at least concede to you.

I'm not restricting player movement. Maybe I didn't give the full explanation. A player can transfer anywhere, anytime he wants for any reason. 1st time transfer he can play immediately, coaching change he can transfer and play immediately, grad transfer he can play immediately, any other transfer has to sit a year.

While I agree with your criteria it’s all arbitrary. What’s the justification for limiting multiple transfers. The grad transfer rule is also a con job. If someone has true statistics on how many grad transfers are getting legit grad degrees I would like to see it. Either you can legally restrict transfers or you can’t. While I don’t like it a player has the freedom of free transfers or they can be restricted. My guess is the courts would say free transfers

He would not have been fired.  His contract was up so it would have been just two sides moving on.  There were plenty of reasons to not hire him and there is no reason to rehash them.   I heard the Biondi thing and that was 11 or so years ago so you can believe it or not.  The NC of the year thing was a tip of the hat to RM in my opinion and coaches who win those awards often get fired a year or two later.

Not rehiring someone is the same as firing. Semantics. Biondi fired Rich Grawer and took a lot of crap for it so No I don’t think he was or wanted to be involved with Crews. And no I don’t believe naming Crews was somehow paying homage to Rick. Rick was well respected but we’re not talking John Wooden here. Someone with better skills then me should go back and see what this board was saying. My memory says the board was saying what’s taking May so long.

Yeah we were short handed. But, I think he mismanaged the rotation in the final 20. For some reason he went with the small line up during Drake’s run. Made no sense to me. Both Zhang and Bussel should get the 40 minutes at the 5. Curcic needs more minutes.

I am not sure if it was May's idea to hire Crews.  I think it was Biondi who wanted him hired because he would be cheaper than RM.  Now I do blame him for not putting together a power point to change Biondi's mind.  I am sure May was OK with Crews simply because it was easy.

I think you could simply put a bag over your head with eye holes cut out.

I am not sure where you got the Biondi story. Never heard anything like this. Crews was national coach of the year. How do you not hire him? May had no choice. You don’t essentially fire the national coach of the year.

Bruce & SVB have very awkward hand, arm, and footwork at this point. They just kinda look like deer in the headlights on plays where they aren't quite sure what to do. Bruce gets stuck with the ball up at the top of the key too often and noone is there to get the ball from him. They can't put it on the floor very well

I think Bruce especially when what he needs to do in a play is clear he is very effective. However, when he's left wondering what the decision should be, ends up thinking about it, and makes a mistake. He desperately needs good coaching.

When he's got something he clearly needs to do(e.g. crash the rim for a putback) he is pretty effective. I liked the hook shot he's shown a couple times but we will see if that becomes a consistent threat.

Regardless of how good they are or not, they HAVE to be on the floor. Playing Hargrove at center is a recipe for disaster. If Bruce just stands in the paint with his arms raised he is already doing enough to have to be on the floor. This team is way too short at the guard and forward spots to not have some reach out there to make shots more difficult and block sightlines. We aren't exactly playing 6 9 and 6 10 forwards. Bruce or SVB are the only guys with real height we got. Thames is pretty tall, Hargrove can play taller due to his jump, but the center position exists for a reason.

I know this is easier said then done but we need to change our offense when Bruce is in the game. He should not be positioned at the top of the key handling the ball. He needs to be on the low post hopefully taking up space and a defender or two. Ford has build his offense on TJ at the key hopefully opening up the floor. I think TJ has done a good job of this but doesn't work with Bruce.

@willie: No.  My original post said that every player on this team is at best a role player.  You then moved on to 'complementary."  I agreed that Jimerson is indeed that, but with the right role.  I never said no one could start elsewhere.

Jimerson does start here but he's overtaxed as not only a starter but 'the man."  I'm surprised he doesn't drop from exhaustion by game's end.

“Nary a one has starters talent “. I am glad you came around to say Giibbie could and would start in a lot of places.

We need NIL now for MBB, no question.  If we want to ever think about moving up to the Big East, we need facilities to play on an even field. We need to find the money for both.

I wasn’t aware that only MBB and WBB athletes eat for free there, it should have been for all athletes, LIKE CHRIS MAY SAID IT WOULD BE!!!!

Honestly, if that’s true, that may be the single best reason to fire May I’ve heard yet.

To my knowledge all athletes can eat there. That was certainly part of the sales pitch.

No one seems to really know given that SLU is a private university and therefore do not have to release that information.  Apparently his contract was extended but when and for how long is actually unknown or at least not publically disclosed.  Conventional wisdom is 2 after this year but who knows.

This would also be my GUESS.

@willie:  I'm not arguing that.  Jimmerson reminds me a lot of Doug Collins but Doug Collins wasn't going to win many games all by himself.  Jimerson would be a great pickup next year for many Top Ten teams.  Hell, I thought he'd be at UVa this year for sure.

I am not arguing that Jimmer can be the man. Your original post was we didn’t have anyone who would start for other teams. He would start and fit in well for most teams.

As a side note, my buddy, a staunch Nova devotee and grad, is bemoaning the fact that Nova has spent $3 million on its roster this year in NIL funds and just lost to St. Joe's and now Drexel in the Big Five.  Could it be true that La Salle rules Philly hoops?

I thought you told me in a previous thread that LaSale was garbage with no athletes?

@willie the key word in your post is 'complementary.'  Complementary to a decent big,. a decent Power 4, a decent small forward and a decent point.  Sure, guys have their 'moments.'  But that's what 'complementary' players do.  Our lone decent stud has a broken foot.  No one else approaches decent in my point of view on being a starter.

You said no one else has starter talent  Totally disagree. Jimmer would start for most teams in this country. He would fit into the starting lineup of number one Purdue nicely. In fact he’s the type of player they need.

Every player on this roster is a role player.  Nary a one has starter talent whatsoever.  Ford recruited this mess.  Then added to it with a non-existent offense and apparently no defensive fundamentals.  This collection of players, coupled with the coach, is a disaster.  I don't think Drake will beat us by 41 or 39 or whatever but it too will be quite ugly.

A total program shakeup is needed right now.

And you can't press when two of your starting guards are in the locker room.  Ain't gonna happen.

Disagree on Jimmer. He would be a major complementary player on most teams just not lead player. He would be a starter on a most teams.
