  1. i want nothing to do with dukies. dont ever forget when pretty q snyder got caught at mi$$ouri, his defense with the ncaa was "we did that all the time at duke." pretty much went away after that. but point is they are trained to cheat.
  2. so you are assuming nobody will transfer out in this new age of no penalties for transferring and getting paid to play? i dont know if john wooden could keep a roster that intact in this new atmosphere in college sports.
  3. why does everyone assume that these players will all blindly follow him? he cant control what they do. they mike like Terre Haute (dont know why anyone would tho) they might have friends at a different school they might want to hook up with? Maybe the players we keep thirsting over dont like st louis. i wouldnt take a coach based on him bringing talent with him. got to hire the guy on his own merits.
  4. i think ford misused nesbit. at the very least he did nothing to adjust him and take advantage of his incredible natural abilities. but i dont miss him. there were obviously some head issues with nesbit. maybe it was a silent conflict with ford, but the key to a player getting better is the ability to take the lessons he is being hit with (and not all lessons are on the floor lessons) and use them to make themselves better in every way. i dont think he did. the fact he is running again tells us it appears he has issues imo.
  5. and how many more wins did keeping this secret gain the billikens? how many more fans quit complaining holding that in? didnt help one bit. they could have let the world know he was leaving at season end and no one would have cared and just maybe the fanbase would have been a lot more relaxed.
  6. hate to tell you but that isnt just Chris May. go up the ladder and they all buy into their little inside secrets. and it's my experience after 40 years in an industry, corporate america is the same way. i guess i never got up the ladder far enough for someone to explain why it is so important not to tell anyone that this year at the christmas party they are going to have chicken and pasta instead of prime rib. secrets. i retired at year end and after only 2+ months my life is so much better. now if we can just fix the SLU atmosphere. my life would be great.
  7. I've said it before, the CIA method of denying as long as possible seems to blow up more than do any good. Once a decision has been made, what's the point? Staying all secret isnt going to make anything better. Rip the f'n bandaid off and move on. I'd much rather discuss the future than continue to play the narrative we played here the last few MONTHS. Honestly that was toxic and sure did nothing to help the Billiken Fandom's well being. It only made things worse.
  8. i didnt know there was a rickma marketing scheme. can you explain what that consisted of?
  9. you see folks, this is a true friend. i didnt even know about this loyal act of friendship. thanks A-Bomb! you know i would try to do the same any time. unfortunately i am now an old man with multiple medical events that make me almost physically worthless these days. maybe i could win with insults and witty comments?
  10. SLU hasnt gotten much right since Ed McCauley graduated.
  11. And a very good passer and rebounder. Poor man's jokic?
  12. No I said Meadows was worse but together they were the worst point guards on a billiken team. Quote it right.
  13. i played 4 sports in high school. however, when i went to college, i had to work fulltime to pay for college and didnt have time to play sports. all i know is if you were truly a competitor you would understand the almost hatred a competitor will develop for rivals. did you maybe take soderball's words a little to literal? the fact no one has actually taken things to that degree, when i read the post i read it not for physical violence but as competitor vitriol and a plea for more passion by all. nothing more. and if you truly played competive sports like many of us passionate board members you would have read it the same way. the above all said, i am glad to hear you did receive your participation awards all the way through college. good for you.
  14. you never played sports when young did you wendelprof?
  15. Lisch is a better basketball player than all of them by far. Not even close. He has been drilled in fundamentals and focus and just savvy since he was 6 years old. But if these players lined up to compete in the decathlon with no advanced training for the individual athletic events, Kevin would not be the victor
  16. you are watching different games than me. the fundamental and mental mistakes we consistently make game after game tells me either or both 1. we dont practive defense 2. our players dont understand defense. both of those choices reinforce my belief ford is a horrible practice and development coach. there is no excuse. for those of you saying our players are not athletic enough, i ask, "is kevin lisch a better athlete than larry hughes II? is kevin lisch a better athlete than kellen thames? what about medley, meadows, parker? the answer is no. yet kevin was game after game one of the best defenders the billikens ever had. defense is fundamentals, focus and effort. imo it appears the players just dont care about defense and our coaching staff sure as hell doesnt care. i am sure they give lip service, and insist in huddles play defense. but what is being done in practice to learn the technical aspects of defense and change the mindset of the players on defense? time to fire ford. he is a fail. recruiting no longer is a priority for coaching. Coaching is what matters. fire ford.
  17. Pollard is a st charles resident. he has never called a game for us in the decades he's been reffing games for the billikens where there was any thought he was a homer for the home town team. he's been screwing the billikens regularly. i cringe when i show up for the game and see he is on the crew. imo the other two were even worse last night than pollard. i.e. just a horrible horrible ref crew. you might wonder why anyone thinks refs are on the take, but last night sure makes you wonder. not that the refs made a difference. the billikens had about 5 good minutes to start the game and then it was downhill from there. the billikens lost and the refs had nothing to do with that. most head shaking ref moment last night though might have been when they lost the game ball at a timeout. how can that even happen? never saw that before,
  18. If Hargroves dunk tonight doesn't make sportscenter top 10 thats wrong. Other than that the best part of the game tonight was The Band
  19. Well for one reason our centers play at the head of the key 20 instead of near the basket. Considering how bad shooters all three are that's stupid.
  20. Nothing wrong with the weave if you do more off it than run clock. We don't.
  21. i would bet the majority of the current roster will be moving on. we will have more than 2 open spots.
  22. if this game is a blowout plus we have a weeknight late start, hargrove might have family and friends as the only attendees post game. bad decision
  23. im too lazy to look it up, but who of substance did mccollum and schertz get the opportunity to beat? knowing how none of the big boys will typically play slu (what do we have to gain? grrrrrrr) im guessing they didnt get any opportunities. particularly mccollum who would be playing up one division. the big boys definitely dont want to play a top D2 team especially at the onset of the season. all coaches start somewhere and as ive pointed out a number of times, one of the biggest b!tches i read on this board all year about ford was his big salary. but now you want to hire a big salary instead of saving maybe a million plus to gain a higher aclaimed floor, practice and development coach and be able to use more money in the portal?
  24. imo mack's biggest negative is he will likely be expensive. with recruiting taking a backseat now in actually buildiing a team (now it is all about "how much will i make?") imo the most important aspect of a coach now becomes actually being a coach. i.e. floor coach, practive coach development coach. mack isnt going to come back to coaching to take a paycut likely. why not find an up and comer that might work for $1 million or even less that has the energy and drive to actually coach the team. not saying mack wouldnt do the work i'm saying so will less known coaches and thus leave more money to put into the now pay to play mentality that NiL has brought to college athletics. i'm still all in on schertz.
