  1. billiken law, you were at the meeting last nite and heard for yourself the ravings of coach brad about reggie. when he was telling us that reggie is about the best jump shooter he has ever been around including kirk penney, that didnt fire you up?
  2. while i was a brad fan from day one, the one thing about his time here that simply amazes me is the way he has changed long time attitudes that were at least indifferent to slu if not negative about slu to now one a hell of a lot more positive. last week when tommie liddell was getting ready to verbal to slu, i heard maurice scott on two different radio shows treating slu with a new kind of respect that we have never heard from him. i think bernie has become a soderberg fan. the importance of winning over the media folks in town imo is monumental. the recruits read the paper and listen to the radio. if all they hear is negative or indifferent attitudes, why would they ever come to slu. that is all beginning to change. thanks brad!
  3. if any one moves up enough to send chris sloan to the bench this year, that will be a great sign. the way coach brad gushed about chris and his mission this season, tells me that sloan will see more floor minutes than anyone else this season. but like you said, if it happens, it is a sign that something very unexpected and probably good happened.
  4. gister, imo the 5/8 rule in theory was a good rule. it prevented teams from stealing and disposing of players and treating them like property. however, i guess they didnt forsee the roster shortages it would cause. now i dont think they know how to react to fix it. is it a one way or the other type of thing? i dont know.
  5. and that they win on the first day to be able to play us the second day. j/k ;-) law.
  6. cujaysfan said, "you got completely abused over on valleytalk" i went over to see if there were additional posts since i left to go to the billiken club meeting. low and behold one guy even thanked me for the facts i presented. if course though to illustrate who the real a$$ is, there at the bottom of the string is you giving everyone a link to a post i had here that by itself makes me look bad. but ho hum, what else would expect from the likes of you. you have really shown your true colors the last 3 days. btw, i like the way to assure everyone there that spoon only left slu because of doug woolard. you know i truly believe you really are a spoon insider. you have went out of your way to drop enough hints that is the case. tell spoon we all say hi and wish him well at the crap tables.
  7. being called an a$$ from the likes of this creighton weirdo isnt too bad. i was lmao earlier today when he was telling us about himself sitting around in his spoonball t-shirt twirling his spoon ncaa ring around his finger. that alone convinced me he was a dandy. my guess is he is one of spoon's ex buds that like spoon still grinds his ax versus the program. as thicks points out, he isnt really a billiken fan. his satellite view of our players tells me he is somewhat knowledgeable for a casual fan, but not a real billiken fan. thus, like i said, he still has billiken interests probably due to his old spoon ties, but doesnt keep up enough to really know what is going on. of course this is all coming from an a$$ though.
  8. thanks for the kind words. i dont think i got abused intelligently. there were some idiot statements made when i pointed out the facts. facts they didnt want to hear and amazingly they failed to address in their rebuttals. kind of like yourself. as i said earlier today, i dont see any other billiken fans rushing in echoing your statements. so why would i expect valley fans to rush in and thank me. at least i treated them kindly on their court and left unlike you who is still here three days later telling us we are arrogant, low iq'd, and completely wrong about our team.
  9. david pretty much hit all the high points. not much to add. we did not find out anything about the first public opportunity to see the team. the practice will be closed to the public for a week. i will say this. last year i never felt brad confidently talk about any player except marque. brad loves this team. i think he stressed there are a lot of questions to be answered yet. but there are no doubt some intriguing aspects that he pointed out tonite. izik playing wing, a center that will shoot good free throws, chris sloan on a mission to prove he is more than a role player, an extremely athletic power forward in justin johnson, brad stating again that ian will end up being the BEST inside player st louis has ever had by the time he graduates, comparing reggie bryant the shooter to kirk penney, etc. he is excited. there is no denying that. and i think we have grown to see that brad soderberg is an honest man that doesnt blow smoke. if brad's excited, that's good enough for me.
  10. i especially liked the part where at the top of our creighton friends response it was vital that we have a quality replacement for marque because even though he wasnt the point guard, the offense flowed through him. but at the end of his post it wasnt imperitive that korver was replaced since he wasnt the point guard yet he admitted the offense flowed through him. huh? i am beginning to believe schasz. the head banging has definitely affected this guy's thought process. when he posted less he at least had some credibility. but hey, he has official spoon gear and one of spoon's rings, plus he talks to a network of coaches on a regular basis. that's good enough for me. we are billiken idiots and he is the source.
  11. spin it baby! your responses were a little stronger than your summary.
  12. go with sort of a jimmy buffet/hawaiianlike billiken blue as the base color shirt.
  13. you dont exactly brighten my day with your posts either.
  14. i will say that if n.d. did not have national appeal, not just midwest, they wouldnt have the tv deal that they have.
  15. i dont really see where anyone on the board is jumping in and agreeing with your condenscending line much. it isnt just me. like i said, maybe you need to go cheer on the runnin' rebels. since your old friend is over there now.
  16. imo there are ONLY 2 ways notre dame is ever in a football conference. first, is if nbc takes away that sweet tv package. until then, they would be foolish to split that with other teams. i guess if a conference wanted to they could let notre dame keep their separate tv package, however, the chances of any top conference not letting their ego get in the way of that one is slim and none. second is if the bcs people tell notre dame they cannot be in the bcs system unless they are in a conference. by being left out of the bcs system, most likely nbc loses interest and then see reason one above.
  17. practice starts the closest saturday to october 15. thus this saturday at 1 minute after midnight practice can begin.
  18. defend the jays on the jays board...that is fine with me. on the billiken board, you can come here and speak down all you want to billiken fandom, but then dont be all "banging my head on the wall" when the likes of thicks and me just dont see your jays are the best the billikens are with the rest b.s. p.s. i am real impressed you are sitting around in spoon gear and wearing a spoon ring. why dont you go on over to the unlv board and kiss his a$$.
  19. i'll rest just fine, but that still doesnt prove that you are anykind of a billiken fan. please enlighten us as to the last time you said anything that wasnt condenscending or negative about the billikens on this board.
  20. imo it sets up the merger between the two conferences. whereas the basketball schools become one conference and the remaining football schools become a different one.
  21. you know if the big 10 swoops in and takes syracuse or pitt, i wouldnt be surprised if the whole league falls apart. if cusa was smart they would be trying to turn this around right now. the result for the billikens would be the papal conference. we need to root for the big ten to grab a team.
  22. cujaysfan said, "i think some people forget that i have been a bills fan for a very long time." with the way you posted today, it is no wonder "some people forget". i rarely see anything in what you say that indicates you are a bills fan.
  23. how is the 14th ranked conference (mvc) close to the 9th ranked conference (a-10)? plus take into consideration that the a-10 now garners twice the ncaa funds as the mvc shows that they are not close.
  24. 2003 illinois state 223 rpi ranking!!!!! woo hoo i wish i was a redbird fan. i enjoy the needle where you quote your long ago victories in the ncaa tourney against 3 good programs. how sad. living off of those wins memories. for you to think slu will not compete in the a-10 shows your ignorance of billiken history. the same was said in every conference move by the billikens in the last 20 years and in each instance in a very short time the billikens indeed did move to the upper part of the conference and compete for league championships. there is no reason to believe it wont continue to happen. btw, how does that 223 rpi stack up in the a-10? well it looks like the redbirds would have finished about the same in the a-10, 3rd from the bottom. slu though would have finished 4th in the a-10 with a 66 rpi. not bad for a redheaded stepchild.
