Just secured my first year of season tickets for the billikens. While it sucks that Javonte lost this year to injury, I was a billikens fan before, and will be a billikens fan after. THIS WILL BE A GREAT YEAR FOR BILLIKEN BASKETBALL!5 likes

I didn't see the game but based on the box score, I would say that Jimerson scoring 8 points while making no 3s is an encouraging encouraging of development rather than regression. He's going to make 3s during the season but if he can score in other ways, he can replace some of Perkins' scoring4 likes -

This take isn't even that hot IMO. You want a real hot take? YC was already top 10 PG in the country last year. I won't be taking any questions on this topic.3 likes -

twice he went backdoor and made reverse layups. he got called for a charge going hard to the basket once. of course we dont want him getting charges, but i think it shows a different mindset than we saw last year. jimmerson is doing more to contribute than he has at any point in his billiken career imo. i want yuri to start looking for him. i almost question if he isnt being ignored when he is open.2 likes -

No, they're the 2. Finished 1 game above SLU after SLU lost at Rhode Island to end the regular season (SLU would've had the 2-seed if they had won or Dayton had lost due to the head-to-head tiebreaker). You may be thinking of the men's side, where Dayton is the 8-seed and comes to SLU this week for the quarterfinals.1 like -

First, this was an exhibition game , so the numbers are not real meaningful. The numbers are not meaningful because the game day players in real games will have different minutes and we will be playing tougher teams. However, there are still some takeaways from this game. Let's first look at the the slash line.....57 / 71 / 30 / 65....A+/ A+/ F- / F...One thing to point out in this game was the Thatch factor....He had a strange game...While excellent from 2 pt range (5-6...83% ) the rest of his game seemed to be off...0-3 from 3pt range and the FT line plus 3 TOs...3s were wild for him.. Leaving Thatch's numbers off the slash, it grades out like this... A+/ A+/ B+ / A+ plus 10 TOs which also grades out at A+. Not trying to pick on him , just saying except for the 2s he had an off night which I which I will chalk up as an anomaly. The point is that we need to keep an eye on FT shooting and 3 pt shots as a team. Which brings me to my next point...3 pt shooting. ...When how much and who. Of course if we continue to shoot 71% from inside the arc...the answer will be never unless you can shoot 48%+ from the arc. Realistically, we are not going to shoot 70% from 2 as we face tougher defenses. But I think it is possible for the Bills to shoot in the lower 50%s. If that comes to pass then 3pt shooting will have to be about 35%+ to make it worthwhile to shoot.... We may have to be more selective as to taking better shots , who shoots and how many shots we take. If we shoot 35%+ ...then fire away. Overall these last 2 games were warm ups. We will have a much better gauge of things when we play Central Ark. on Nov 9th....Even if C ARK isn't the toughest competition, it will be a real step up from D2 or D3.1 like

Frank stated on his show this morning that Yuri has been working with Erwin Claggett on his shooting- just imagine Yurimania knocking them down like the Venice Menace.1 like -
Time to refresh the Yurimania craze, I guess. When I read where he walked to the tunnel for the back thing I started worrying about the whole season going down the toilet. He has been a little injury prone. We definitely cannot lose Yurimania.1 like

Richmond gave Dayton a game. But Dayton pulled away in the 2nd half. Atlantic 10 has the remaining conference tourney games set up as: With VCU out, SLU plays Dayton, at Dayton at 3pm Central Friday. (After UMass vs St. Joe's). If SLU wins, they play in the A10 Conference Tourney Title game at 11am Central Time Sunday. SLU has defeated all 3 remaining teams this season. (2 were at home) As if often the case, the Dayton game holds extra meaning for a variety of reasons, including recruiting purposes for SLU. Both schools have, and are, recruiting some of the same players.1 like

Thatch has already proven he's a good rebounding guard. He averaged 8.7 rebounds per 40 min last year. If he played 30 min a game, he'd be a 6 rebound per game guy. But it's a moot point because he won't play starter minutes over the long-term due to his limited offense.1 like -

Mitchell has played in numerous backwater leagues, including the one he is in now. He did play in the Russian VTB league. Evans has made 3 stops, Bundesliga, Italy Serie A, and now Japan. All 3 high profile, high paying leagues. He's excelled everywhere he has gone and never been sent away or left a team midway through a season. Plus he had to take a year off in between college and pro because of injuries. He's made the most of his career and I would point at how he has navigated the pro ranks as an example to any current Billiken.1 like

2021-2022 Season
BuiltFordBills liked a topic by cgeldmacher
For those that think that Coach Ford and the staff can only recruit, and cannot coach, I throw the gauntlet down. This team has now lost its top 3 players from last season. Let's break that down. We lost our top 3 rebounders (Perkins was 3rd). We lost our top two shot blockers (Perkins was tied for 2nd). We lost our top three minutes guys. We lost our top 3 point shooter (Perkins with 38 made). Goodwin, French, and Perkins scored 838 of our 1507 points last season (56%). If Ford gets this team to 20 wins, no one should ever complain about his coaching again. I don't care how much hope we have and potential the players have, the above numbers don't lie. Go prove the naysayers wrong, Coach Ford.1 like -

It seems like Jimerson has regressed. I would have thought at this point he would be hitting 3-4 from the arc plus a couple of 2 pointers. Is he not shooting well or is it an issue with minutes of play? With JP out we need GJ to be a constant threat from outside.-1 likes
