  1. The Bills haven’t been in a conference or played Cincinnati (that I can remember off the top of my head)in almost 20 years, yet I still hate them with a passion. To this day I believe if I saw Bobby Brannen walking down the street I would punch him right in the face. I wouldn’t be sad if Danny Fortson got a severe case of Herpes and to this day I wish Tony Bobbitt had been married to Lorena. Don't even get me started on Huggins. All that said, I wish Madsen a healthy college career.

  2. Who was it that punched a police horse? Was if Fortson? Can't remember his name, but had the nick name The Helicopter, got so pissed when we beat them on Valentine's Day, thinking Troy Robertson hit free throws late

  4. How in the world was that even a foul on Emily G much less a yellow card? She got to the ball first got the shot off then the keep ran into her outside the box. No call ok, but the correct call was a foul on their keep. C Kelly didn’t play that much early in the year but she’s really coming on. However she should know she can’t box out the keeper with her arms stretched out. McDermott and the other announcer kept calling it offsides and saying you can’t be off on a corner, but you clearly can be on the header following the corner ( by Abbie Miller of course). Don’t know what the actual call was but I was surprised by the lack of recognition of what happened on the play. The correct call was a foul on C Kelly and I’d bet that was the call.

  5. The way we should spin all of these are as local kids that weren't overhyped and would have thrived if they had picked SLU.

  6. In no particular order: If someone repeatedly posted in SLU basketball threads saying how much they dislike basketball, and SLU Men's basketball, many people on the board would respond negatively or ignore, and consider you a board troll. Of course you mean to be a troll. That's what you have been doing. It's okay to step up and own it. It's one thing to want more success of a SLU sport. It's another to negatively say a sport is boring to you, or not as popular as other sports (you really don't have a good grasp of various sport popularity) as if the kids should only follow the most popular crowd. And yet, here you are again, reading threads, commenting, watching what you dislike so much and find boring. Blink twice if the person next to you still has a gun to your head. "Inconsequential" What is the cut off date that schools can honor past success? Is there a particular year when history is allowed to begin? I will just let your sexist mysogony speak for itself. Yes, every college basketball game is played exactly the same as the UCLA vs Gonzaga game. 100% of the time. You mentioned Georgetown and UMass to say they got lucky one time. When it gets pointed out to you that neither is a one hit wonder in soccer and hockey, as you are not aware of the landscape, you curmudgeonly say oh those sports aren't popular anyway. It's pretty interesting because American Football has the highest ratings in the U.S., yet here you are. You then say you don't have an understanding of soccer, while quickly (again) pivoting to saying with convincing authority that your opinion is of the majority. Seems to be quite the battle going on in your head. This was a lot of words to say you want to be accepted by the popular kids. You want to be an included supporter of the teams that win the most. Or more simply put, you could have said that you wished SLU Men's Basketball won more games, as opposed to trolling one of the more successful sports at SLU. Maybe start a new thread for one of those things. Perhaps supporting one of the several schools you mentioned in your various posts would be a better fit for you. SLU has two soccer teams. This is one of the two main soccer threads. That's it. Two threads, clearly labeled. Many people who read this thread and/or post in this thread would be happy and willing to have an objective soccer discussion with anyone of sincerity.

  7. I think Hargrove is on the path most quality College players take. He comes in as a freshman and get spot minutes while learning the system and what he needs to do. Sophomore season, earn more minutes and improve on what you learned as a freshman. Junior year big contributor. Senior year even bigger contributor. I think this is how most players should develop at the college level. The problem is that the Bills haven’t been deep enough to develop players this way. We have been forced to throw freshman into big minute. With the depth they have now they can develop players properly. This isn’t the method for all players but I think most fit into this mold.

  8. Roy. Sorry for the delay in responding. As to Hargrove in high school, let me start by saying I never saw him play in high school and I defer to you and others on this Board who actually have gone and watched Hargove and the other players play. My comments are based upon what I have read about him. Please, correct me if I have made the wrong conclusions but I understand that he was coached by multiple coaches, that the coaching he received may not have been the best, that discipline, structure and defense was not emphasized and yet he helped lead his team to a State Championship his Senior year. During that time, he seems to have relied heavily upon his amazing yet raw athletic ability. And while he appeared to have scored from every part of the court, it does not appear he had a high percentage of shooting and while he made 3 pointers in high school, I have yet to read accounts about him being a real perimeter threat, a 3 point shooter. And from reading other posters, they indicated his dribbling was not a strength. And furthermore, he appeared to have been more a small forward than a guard. Now, I have seen Hargrove play here at SLU these past two (2) years. And I agree with Taj that Hargrove is halfway up the mountain with a long way to go. The development, or change, I see in Hargrove is with his defense and embracing of coaching. I see an improvement in fundamentals and footwork. While I did not see him play defense in high school, I did see him play early on at SLU. I saw bad fundamentals, I saw him let his man pass by him to either score or sometimes see him somehow block the shot from behind with his unreal jumping and athletic ability. Now, I see his feet moving and much better technique not letting his guy pass by him easily. Also, I see an improvement on his perimeter shooting, structure and playing without the ball. Whether he is truly better or not, he is certainly more confident and his head is no longer spinning. But to me, the biggest change, and I stress the word I used "appears" to be Hargrove is becoming a guard and a 3 point threat. Sure, his percentage may be increasing, or may not, but I don't put much stock in percentages when the amount of shots is few and when there are so many variables -- was he left open? was the pass good/bad? was the shot off a screen? was the shot off a dribble? was the shot on the break? did he have a hand in his face? was the defense expecting the 3 pointer? So many factors. But to me, if you agree that midrange and perimeter shooting threats were not coming from Yuri, JGood and French, and if those 3 played alot of minutes, then mid range and perimeter had to come from Perkins and someone else. And if Hargrove ended the year having earned playing time over Jjimerson, a guard and a 3 point shooter, then that tells me that Hargrove must have impressed in practice. Of course, I am not at practice but it sure appears that a change is taking place. We will soon find out.
