  1. First idea: Someone in the student section needs to organize an effort to make a bunch of giant M cards and hang one for each 3-pointer he makes. Like a K in a baseball stadium - basically this with Ms:

  2. Been watching in the background while making chili, making Xmas cookies, drinking wine, drinking coffee, drinking whiskey, eating burritos, unloading the dishwasher, grabbing my preggo wife's ass and just fuoking gushing about the billies. Tourney bound for sure if we keep this level of play up. Three ball fuoking central. Billllllllies. HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE

  3. They seem to be colluding on a stat-padding effort, missing shots and giving the other guy an easy putback. I'm calling them out.

  4. Got to love the bizarre Billiken slashline: 58% from the field, 63% from 3 and 33% from the free throw line.

  5. The whole point of the message board is to discuss the Billikens. I don’t get telling posters to stay silent on an obvious discussion topic about the team. It’s okay to disagree with the coach. I love Ford, but still can question things he does.

  6. Also shoutout to Chris May. I certainly give him a lot of crap, so thanks for getting the stream to work. If I hadn’t seen it myself I wouldn’t have believed the 17 three pointers.

  8. 3-point shooting: Goodwin 2-3, Jacobs 4-5, Collins 1-1, Jimerson 3-6. Think about that. Jimerson is 3-6 from 3 at half and is bringing our percentage down.

  9. Understated player of the game: Yuri. Lots of looks thrown at him and he handled them well.

  10. Best 40 minute Billiken performance I've ever seen. That was a good team we just punked. The whole 40 reminded me of the Washington home game first half.

  16. I’m not good with estimating but there were several hundred total. Nothing crazy but at least there was some atmosphere. Maybe 50-100 obvious SLU fans, very few Tulane fans, 30-40 Dayton fans, and a bunch of randos. GCU likely had the most fans at our game as a large group of their students were there already. side note: to get us to over a 100 fan attendance number, I’m fairly certain the attendance numbers for SLU baseball and softball games included all the players and coaches as well as anyone randomly walking by.

  18. 17 three-pointers made vs. Tulane is a new SLU record. The previous record was 15, set twice: 2007 at Temple and 2004 vs. K-State. A SLU player has only made 7 or more in a game 9 times. Tommie Liddell is the only to hit 8 in a game. Jimerson and Jacobs each had 6 vs. Tulane, so they were close. I can't confirm this, but I bet that's the first time two SLU players have made 6 or more in the same game.

  19. That was something else. If they shoot like there aren’t going to be very many teams we can’t beat. out rebounded them 42-20. One complaint and it’s a minor one....gave up a few to many offensive boards. Assists 20-7!!

  20. Just because he had a few tough games and people were not happy with him doesn’t equal knocking. He’s a freshman who will endure growing pains the whole season, even when he’s playing excellent.

  22. Ford actually pleased with the O and D. Called it the best total game, but 'it is easy to call that when you make 17 3's'. Liked the way we handled their matchup zone. French was sick before the game, threw up during halftime, and no one told Coach until after the game. WARRIOR.

  31. Ron Hunter's reactions to our made threes were my favorite part of that half... mostly because I've made the same exact reactions in the past when our opponents just can't miss.

  38. It would be great for the A10, and SLU, to dump Fordham and offer Belmont. The A10 needs a bigger footprint west of the Atlantic Coast. If not Belmont, then Loyola Chicago. The A10, if they got aggressive, could build a conference right behind the Beast. The addition of Davidson was a great move. They need to follow it up with a few more. Hell, Fordham could be the sleeping giant in the Colonial. They might welcome the move. Teams that would improve the A10: Belmont, Loyola Chicago, College of Charleston, Valpo. All these are schools that are keeping with the small state school/private school makeup of the conference.

  40. The arena was not across the river always. I remember going to their basketball games at their gym, a cramped little place, in the early 1960's. They were good at the time and in 1968 went to the NCAA tournament and got to the finals against UCLA, playing against the then called Lew Alcindor. Dayton lost, of course, but going that far helped them raise the money and land for their new arena across the river. In the early 1960's Dayton was an industrial hub with heavy emphasis in metal machining. This, of course went the way of the Dodo but once upon a time they had the headquarters and main manufacturing site for NCR (cash registers, which were fully mechanical, not electronic, at that time). Dayton was a hard working blue collar, manufacturing city then. Dayton U was primarily an engineering school with an overall ratio of males to females of over 10 males per female. Small school, Marianist and usually fed by Chaminade High Schools from all over plus the locals. I believe the Marianists had another university somewhere in Texas as well. And as far as sports went the town loved Dayton sports although it would have been quite easy to drive down to Cincinnati or East to Columbus to attend Xavier or Ohio State sports, or go to professional baseball games at Cincinnati. And yes, I went to Dayton for college, 1963 to 1967, did a couple of years of mechanical engineering and then transferred to pre med. I graduated from there 52 years ago, and my love and fandom, which transferred to me from my wife, is for SLU.

  41. Coach was on with Frank yesterday. Someone else mentioned this, but it is lost in the threads. https://590thefan.com/radio-shows/press-box/ Segment four on the 5th. He commented on Goodwin and French's minutes. It is based on how hard they play. "Some of the guys on our team haven't figured that out". French and Goodwin compete every single minute of the game. Goodwin is always talking (sometimes talking back) to Ford on the floor. "Jordan and Hasahn have more leeway. They have earned the right to make some mistakes." They can take Ford's criticism as they know he isn't going to take them out. He treats every player fairly, but he doesn't treat every player the same. "We pretty much make all the decisions for the five freshmen." Frank "Is there a chance Perkins moves into the starting lineup." Coach "He won't move into the starting lineup, at least not Sunday." "We are going to keep it the same, he'll play 25 to 30 minutes. Fred Thatch is most likely still out. As the season goes along I wouldn't be surprised to see him start. No difference than a Gibson Jimerson, maybe. It is going to be fluid as the season goes along. The only guys guaranteed to start are Hasahn and Jordan." Didn't want to get deep into the Thatch medical issue, it is cramps and they are trying to find the reasons that are causing it. It has taken a little bit of time. There isn't a time table on it. On Gordon, with the recent news of him leaving again, Frank asked if Coach had a 'we can be your best option'. Coach dodged this, but wishes him the best. "I want good things to happen for Gordon." Recruiting: Talked about Strickland. "Obviously we aren't done." We have one scholarship available, right now. He has been around St. Louis this week looking at recruits. Tulane went the transfer route. Kansas transfer, Lawson, is the leading scorer; starting guard from Georgia last season. Called Tulane a top of A10 level team with older, experienced players. Compared last season team to this season's. He said they spent a lot of time last season with off court issues. This team needs a lot of teaching. Practices are 'slow'. Frank was asked from off line, who will be the next local recruit. Frank talked about St. Louis Christian's Jordan Nesbit, who is a 6'7" reclassified junior. Compared him to Ben McLemore. "He would be great." He also mentioned Kern and in Segment 5, talked about the family interest, as previously mentioned somewhere else.
