  1. Corey Tate was on with Frank C this AM. He couldn't talk about Lewis as he hasn't signed. Talked very positive about Collins. Commented on his instincts that can't be taught. Called Goodwin their Power Point Guard and Collins the Natural Point Guard. Collins just makes everyone better. Hargrove: "out of all the kids, he will has the chance to be the best pro". He doesn't 'have a position' but will grow into one. Perkins: at 6'7" he can play multiple positions, he can play PG. Coach likes players who can play multiple positions. He can score, shoot the ball and rebound. Van Macon started the recruiting of Isabell, but Tate brought him in. Coach never gave up on Isabell, he was always positive with him. Frank asked about transfers, JUCO or HS recruits for the two open schollies. Tate: " There is no formula for recruiting. We know what we need. However they come doesn't matter." Corey said it was kind of rough when he left Mizzou. Tate said that he is pretty sure if SLU has a commit, Martin wouldn't go after him, and vice versa. No regrets on bringing in Gordon. "We are still here for him." Discussion on starting lineup next season: Frank has Thatch and Goodwin in. Tate wouldn't bite, didn't want to guarantee anything" but said core of the team starts with Thatch, Goodwin and French". What can you do French FT? "Just practice. Most of the issue is from the shoulders up. His mechanics are good." A little trash talk between Frank and Corey on Pattonville v DeSmet. Tate said that Coach Spoonhour and Coach Stewart were in his living room at the same time recruiting him. Spoon had the appointment, and Stewart came anyway. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thepressbox/2019/04/18/segment-4--corey-tate-41819

  3. slu coaches will not look good calling out poacher martin or his staff. if the recruit wants to tell the world, that's fine, but slu has to stay out of that.

  5. The reason we've never had a team has almost everything to do with stadium plans falling through/not having a big name or super rich primary owner to headline a bid. MLS has been trying to get a team in STL since its inception due to the perceived amount of local support and extraordinary attendance for one-off matches with the USNTs and club friendlies, providing a direct counter to your hypothesis on this particular issue. The fans have never been the problem, it has been down to unfunded stadium proposals and ownership groups that weren't quite rich enough to satisfy the league's cabal of owners. Both of those problems seem to have been solved with the Taylor group, which is why we have jumped to the front of the list for expansion!

  7. I've wanted Carpenter for awhile- he fits us perfectly (something that you have quite effectively stressed, 3 Star) plus my name is Robert and I'm a carpenter.

  8. You can be a do everything wing in the A10 without being a pro. Pretty much every team in the top 25 has someone like Perkins. It's pretty rare in the A10, though. That's why I love the fit.

  9. Perkins is the more experienced, better scoring, more complete player right now. Hargrove is the one with the higher ceiling, though.

  12. This is just wrong. The MLS not being here has nothing to do with whether or not they believed St. Louis would support a team. With very few exceptions all cities are frontrunners to some extent. Team wins more fans come. Seems pretty simple. How about those frontrunning Oriole fans? Approximately 20% less came last year than the year before and about 33% less than 2014 when they made the playoffs.

  13. Really? Prior to your post above, you have posted 6 times in this thread. 5 of those posts were about the SEC, (mostly) Big 10, Big 12, Big East. You have posted once that included former SLU assistant Porter Moser. That’s the only connection to SLU I see. Donny Daniels recruited 11 years for Rick Majerus. The others have been discussed in this thread (including one of your posts) and an additional thread.

  15. It looks to me like Carpenter is more of a wing than a big. 6’6 or 6’7 and around 200 lbs. I’d imagine he’d be competing with Perkins, Hankton, and Hargrove for minutes not providing depth behind French. If you’re going for best available talent (not a bad plan) and planning on playing small (again perhaps not a bad plan), then I’d be perfectly happy to have Carpenter.

  16. This is probably covered in some thread, but we always seem to have some confusion about available scholarships, so here is the way I see it with the assumption that Lewis is only going to be on the squad next year (for either a 1/2 year or a full year). This is as of 4/17/19 Seniors next year: Lewis Juniors: Perkins, Goodwin, French Soph: Jacobs, Thatch, Hankton Fresh; Jimerson, Collins, Hargrove, Bell Eleven scholarships used a/o today----- 2 available for 2019 signees* Ten scholarships used a/o today(two above* and the Lewis scholarship)-----3 available for 2020 signees. Fill any additional signees into the appropriate year, e.g. a grad transfer would go into the year with Lewis. What is important to me is that we have 3, 2020 scholarships for the outstanding group of players, that year; i.e. Love, Kasubke, K Clark, the Mehlville 3, and others. This would balance the scholarships as follows in the 2020-21 year: Seniors---3; Juniors ---3; Soph-----4; Fresh-----3.

  20. The city is not responsible for SLU's lack of continuity at the D1 level through the decades. Just stupid. Oh, and Philly lost the Athletics in the 50's. Minnesota lost the Lakers, NY lost the Dodgers and Giants , NJ lost the Nets, Cleveland lost the Rams AND the original Browns. ...and lastly, if you paid attention, we're in the process of getting an MLS franchise. You may have gone to school here, but you'll never be one of us.
