  1. I need to get a better sense of other schools looking at him, but here's what I've got so far for Bell. Jimmy Bell, Jr. - C, 7-0, 280 - Saginaw, MI (Bella Vista Prep, AZ) - Twitter: @JimmyBellJr15 Offers: SLU, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount, SIUC, Oakland, IUPUI, Southern Utah. Interest: Tennessee-Martin. Latest News: Bell received an offer from SLU. (2/21/19) Scouting Report: Bell is a massive post player and a force in the paint. He scores effectively with his back to the basket in the low post and has a nice overall offensive skillset, with the ability to face up and make moves in either direction. He has nice soft touch when finishing, too, and could be a more above-the-rim player if he continues to transform his frame. He runs the floor well, is a strong rebounder and shot blocker, and passes well out of the low post. He lost 90 lbs. in the last offseason after committing to a program of cardio workouts, hiking, biking, and diet in addition to basketball workouts. He still has a long way to go before he reaches peak form, but his work ethic and a college strength and conditioning program should get him there. Bell was a 2018 recruit at Arthur Hill HS in Saginaw before transferring to BVP and reclassifying as a 2019 recruit. Rankings: 247Sports Composite - 393. It's also worth noting that his father passed away last year. He was in the middle of his major weight loss program at the time. He's dealt with some pretty tough stuff and has come a long way.

  2. Carpenter is up to 6'7 205, jumps like French and recently scored 40 points against the #1 prep team in the country. This offer is a big deal.

  3. Conklin is an amazing interview subject. So engaged and engaging. I can't believe you guys got him slapped with a $10 fine for being late to team meal, though. Amateur hour. My favorite takeaways: -The Conklin Summer is real, not a myth. -Cassity was a partier and his rural southern IL boys were his goofball entourage. -Conklin was more heavily recruited than most realize. -He has no problem dropping 4-letter words when talking about Cassity but then "holy heck" becomes his go-to phrase when talking about basketball. -His total recall of certain big games, like Washington and Duke (I was at both, and these are two of the games I remember best, but he knew them on every level). -The Humphrey's memories. -His and Majerus' perspectives on S1. -Conklin's enforcer persona in Australian basketball, including that great clip of him after a particularly controversial game. Anyway, I was into it from start to finish. Just a solid dude who has no interest in typical athlete interview cliches but wants to give you honest answers. He's totally self-aware, confident without being arrogant, and really smart. Great stuff. I'm proud that this guy was a Billiken.

  4. That sucks. why is that guy forced to waste his time playing college ball. He risks career ending injury to be a hired gun for coach K. Forcing these kids to be “student athletes “ needs to stop. If I’m Zion, healthy or not, I’m sitting out the rest of the year. (I know they could go over seas or sit out all I am saying is that the 1 year out of high school rule needs to go)

  5. Not sure where this goes/if it's been posted, but looks like Jacobs is working to return: (Wiley took the below video of Jacobs working out, then Jacobs re-posted it to his own Instagram, if I'm following correctly).

  7. Think Coach will be in the DMV next week for the GAC championship Feb 28-March 1. Will allow him to scout multiple prospects at once, including the junior class. I love this time of year. Recruiting news will come fast and furious the next couple of weeks. Coaches have to cram a lot of recruiting in before our postseason starts.

  8. I would have thought that Jimmy Bell was going to be more of a gym rat and a little less athletic.

  10. I appears if he gets fouled he might be able to hit free throws and I like when I see him making foul shots. With our teams needs he is worth the risk get him in for a visit and a verbal Ford only plays 9 or 10 however a big will see some time if they can defend.

  15. I am just talking about raw data....nothing efficient about the Bills data. Similar to regular shooting stats ....where we are in the F range on FG% and 3P% but we are able to make up for some of that with offensive rebs....currently we are 6th in the nation in Off rebs....this is good news bad news....Good news is we are a great rebounding team ....bad news is we get a lot of offensive reb chances because we can't shoot. Bottom line is we are not efficient in any kind of shooting...FG%, 2P%, 3P% , FT%...but we make up for it with volume.....Like the old TV commercial.....How can our prices be so low?...How can we make a profit?...we do it with volume.

  16. Maybe I'm missing something, but I would argue the opposite. If we're going to the line more than other teams, it makes hitting them at a higher % even more important. For example, it seems to me that a team that shoots a lot of 3s, but makes them at a below-average rate, is not setting themselves up for offensive success. Ultimately, how and where teams get their points is far less important than how efficient they are when they do it.

  17. No question , there are intangibles. In a lost game , where you could have been closer , you might have been able to turn the game around. And 1 and 1s are lost opportunities. I guess , I would answer that we get more chances at 1 and 1s than most teams. The key stat in FTs for the Bills this year is ....we take and make more FTs than most teams which makes the FT % less important...not unimportant...just less important. In the end , there are some things you can't measure. But my point was that for the things we can measure, it hasn't made much of a difference overall in game outcome.

  18. Yeah, this dude is filling it up lately for Mt. Zion Prep. Like 3star says, he can play a 3 or a 4. Robert Carpenter - SF, 6-7, 205 - Detroit, MI (Mt. Zion Prep, MD) - Twitter: @trillestrobb Offers: SLU, St. Joe's, St. Bonaventure, Temple, Tulane, North Texas, Youngstown State, Eastern Kentucky, Iona, Stony Brook, Southern. Interest: La Salle, Central Florida, Drexel, East Tennessee State, Cal State-Fullerton, Southern Utah, Mt. St. Mary's, NJIT, NC Central. Latest News: Carpenter received an offer from SLU. (2/21/19) Scouting Report: Carpenter is a tough, versatile forward who can play the wing or as a slightly undersized 4. He can score on all three levels and has a consistent stroke off the catch or the dribble. He rebounds aggressively at both ends and has a good sense of timing as a rebounder and shot blocker, aided by his leaping ability. He handles the ball well and is effective in transition. He was a 2018 recruit at Detroit Cornerstone but transferred to Mt. Zion Prep in 2017 and reclassified as a 2019 recruit.

  20. Great interview guys. Really enjoyed it. But I'll play the role of Thicks here and point out that Conklin's NCAA tournament appearance was not the school's first since the Larry Hughes era. Somehow you forgot the Miracle in Memphis season in 2000 where we played and lost to Rick Majerus and Utah.

  21. Late bloomer. Was a role player for Mt Zion last year, came on strong late in the AAU season, put on 10lb and has been playing like a different player ever since.

  22. Wallace was a freak. That guy could do it all. I think Laettner is over looked too. People know he was a good college player but he was unbelievable. He is probably the greatest college player of my lifetime. I was born in 79 so late 80’s on is when I started paying attention. That dude played in 4 final 4’s, 3 Championship games, and won 2 titles. He played in 23 NCAA tourney games out of a possible 24...insane. plus he was the original Duke villain.

  24. That was great you guys did good. Thanks for the interview! 1 question. 05 while discussing Humphrey’s you said they gave you a 32 oz beer and you were out. How does a 32 oz beer put a college student on his ass. That’s your drinking prime. A 32 oz beer is a warm up. All kidding aside it was a great listen.
