Here is a link that will give you a quick view of where SLU is and has been ranked each week across various different models. https://masseyratings.com/ranks?s=cb2026&t=6841

Couple of neat little sections on @Old guy's favorite site Team Rankings..... First, the Billikens' bracketology page. Our overall chances have actually dropped slightly since last week while our chances for the auto bid have gone up slightly . I think this has less to do with what happen in the GCU game and more with VCU losing last night to NC State. I think a chance of VCU winning that game was factored in previously giving us a potential boost in SOS. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/team/saint-louis-billikens/bracketology Second, the Billikens' ranking page. This goes deeper into their predictive ranking for the Billikens. Their predictive ranking currently for the Billikens is currently 61. If you go down to Last 5 Rating you will see us ranked 36. This only includes the 4 games we have played this season and factors out the preseason rating input. Small sample size, but I will take it for now. Also, we have been a much better team metrics wise in the second half compared to the first half of games. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/team/saint-louis-billikens/rankings

We rank 317th in turnovers per possession currently. We currently rank 353 in total turnovers. We can't really blame mop up time for the awful turnover numbers either. While Hutson has a astronomical 31% turnover percentage, he has only four of our total of 68 turnovers. Hutson, Kerr, Holmes and Schertz have only 5 total turnovers combined. The big problem is that Brown (28.8%), Jones (27.7%), Thames (20.1%) and McCottry (20.0%) all have a turnover percentage of 20% or higher. In the cases of Brown, Jones and Thames these numbers are way above what they posted previously. I would expect some regression to their career averages going forward as they get used to playing with each other.

I personally don’t think they are a tournament team. That said, they still have 7 games against top 60 teams and can recover because of that. So I definitely get it from Drew’s perspective.

He is in conference, the MWC, that is predicted to get multiple bids. So yeah any boost to their metrics could end up helping.

We are still at 55 in ESPN’s BPI after last night’s win.
-
Yeah we are because unfortunately the schedule leaves little to no margin for error. So when we leave something on the table like we did tonight, it makes it harder to overcome that loss we will have that we shouldn’t when our shots just aren’t falling.
-
I don’t think anyone is miserable and not happy. You are confusing being a little disappointed about how we closed out a game with being miserable or not happy. You can be happy and still want better.
-
You may not realize it, but you have been arguing that things like winning and how you win don’t matter for mid majors because they are going to find a way to get Cuse in the tournament anyway this whole time.
-
I actually want to care about how we perform before the conference tournament
-
You are free to think that the only way for us to get to the tournament is by winning the conference tournament. I prefer to think building a resume of dominant efficient performance over the season can give us another way in.
-
I wouldn’t care so much about garbage time if we had anything close to a decent schedule. We don’t. As it stands right now we don’t have one top 50 team on schedule. Not one chance to get anything approaching a statement win. As a result what we do in garbage time actually matters.
