  1. good hire....somebody who has been a Head Coach before and understands the type of team/players that will be successful at a private urban school in the midwest....
  2. Well........Temple and the Big East brought this up......and Arch Madness just lit up downtown last week while we bust our butts in front of a 100 or so Billiken fans in a 2/3 empty arena 1000 miles away with little or no media coverage...
  3. We have work to do, but the Valley is our best long-term option. SLU to the Valley makes sense for a couple reasons... 1. The Big East blow-up ain't gonna happen 2. A new papal conference ain't gonna happen 3. We would revive many historical rivalries we have had since the Ed MacAuley days 4. That would in turn consistently put butts in the Chaifetz seats for most conference games 5. That would increase the demand for advance ticket sales 6. That would increase athletic giving to ensure priority for good seats (not a guess, proven fact) 7. The savings on non-revenue sports travel could be reinvested in those programs 8. Speaking of non-revenue sports, the Valley is a better league for that too (soccer, baseball, etc) 9. If you are worried about coverage in the P-D, they would go nuts over this! The best way to make this happen with Fr. Biondi would be to add a "peer" institution with a good basketball reputation in a big media market to join the league with us. Best viable candidates: Butler - Indy + good hoops DePaul - they gotta be getting sick of getting cleaned in the Big East Dayton & Xavier - kind of a stretch, but would be a good get Loyola - a project, but getting a new building in Chicago It could happen, and it would be good for SLU
  4. Benedict Romar? He returned to his alma mater!!!! What does he owe SLU???? He took us to the dance, but I feel he was never welcomed fully around here....
  5. Recruiting disgruntled college players is much easier for Brad S. than recruiting blue-chip high school kids and all of the "people" that comes with it....he never seemed to like dealing with that crap... Don't underestimate the role that Kramer and teammates may be playing in the process too...
  6. Athletic Training is a 5 year freshman entry Masters program too
  7. RM's best year.... We should have "Fun at the 'Fetz" in 10-11
  8. That would be a great option vs CBS College Sports.....Chaifetz looks sweet in HD
  9. Actually most of the schools in the Valley take charters....I was told that by a big Creighton booster at a bar during the Valley tournament. None of the school are in hub cities, so they would miss alot of classes by flying commercial.
  10. she can play her 5th year of hoops......you get 5 to play 4 years
  11. I have seen Grinnell play a number of times in person....the reality is that they get ridiculous stats against teams that are not disciplined enough to make them pay for not playing defense. I have seen them lose several times and the score is usually in the 80's. The good teams get back on defense, don't give up any offense rebounds and make all of the easy shots. They also run offense for 25 seconds, which drives Grinnell (and their egomaniac coach) crazy. http://www.grinnell.edu/athletics/mbasketb...scheduleresults
  12. Richard Chaifetz was courtside and on his feet for most of the game I think he is happy with his investment the announcers do alot of big ten games
  13. C-USA is all about FB now......and with Charlotte adding FB, thats where they may go......
  14. We are playing in downtown DC on the evening of the State of the Union speech.....happy motoring Bills!
  15. Interesting comments by TT on the blog.....(I am not touching the Relphorde thing anymore) http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/billiken-...do-other-notes/ I am thinking that DePaul might be a player in the formation of a new configuration someday....they gotta be getting sick of getting their tails kicked in the BigEast . Also, the travel for all of their other sports has gotta be expensive with little return other than the table scraps of BCS money they get from a huge conference. Also, they do not have the NCAA tournament money that Marquette has paying their bills... The Chicago market would go a long way into generating the TV interest that would make a move happen....put it together with St. Louis, Cincinnati, Omaha, Dayton....maybe Des Moines, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, that could be alot of TV sets in the midwest
