Scott Burgess@scottybscout CBC 2016 PG Jordan Barnes played awesome game. Underrated floor general running show and is LIGHTS OUT from deep in this game. 20 pts

3star_recruit
I see that Eric Curry went 12 and 11 in his first game of the weekend. If Biancardi has anything to say about it, he'll be in the ESPN top 100 before the AAU season is over

For-DaLove
1.) Curry is a stud. 2.) An offer is coming for Barnes. 3.) We're going to be damn good in the 2016-2017 season.

RiseAndGrind
@scottybscout: CBC 2016 PG Jordan Barnes consistently played well all spring. Smart PG that plays w pace. Feel for finding guys in spots. Shot it great! ---- Based on the Twitter commentary this weekend, sounds like Barnes should be a Billiken. (As should Goodwin).
3star_recruit
If you were the coach, how would you phrase the offer? We currently have one scholarship to offer beyond the one we're reserving for Tatum. The only junior offered in the spring was Curry. It's clear he is the priority with the other scholarship. Tatum's friendship with Barnes is not new information. Tatum was just on campus a few weeks ago for an official visit with the staff and the president. He's the only player Crews is following on Twitter. If offering Barnes was something Tatum absolutely had to have, he would have been offered already. We all expect there will be at least one transfer at the end of the upcoming season. Even if you offer Barnes now, you're asking him and his family to wait until that scholarship materializes. What if they don't want to wait? He's got other offers on the table, with no strings attached.

3star_recruit
Any school that offers scholarships it doesn't currently have is asking a kid and his family to wait. That's why you usually see the overcommitments happen late in the recruiting process, not a year ahead of time.

willie
13 players are not all going to play well and get quality minutes. Someone will want to or be told to go. I think it was 2 years ago that Louisville had 17 commitments going into the summer. I'm not suggesting we become Loisville but I don't see the problem of being 1 over when in all likelihood it will work itself out.

We are going up against some pretty big programs in that recruitment and if our staff has determined that he is a long-shot then we'd be completely foolish to wait for his decision before moving on to other players. Sometimes an offer can be given with the hope of spurring an action by the player to commit shortly thereafter. If the player doesn't commit or show significant interest you move on and no longer consider him a real option. I have no insight into the Curry recruitment but I wouldn't assume that simply because we offered him this spring he is our second priority to Tatum. As for asking kids to wait, that isn't true at all. We could take three LOIs this fall and all would feel secure that they will have a scholly next year. That may not make the 9 sophs and freshmen on the team feel terribly comfortable but maybe it has a positive effect and makes them all work harder. Isn't that how a lot of the package deals work? I don't think Barnes is a guy worth a scholarship offer based on his own ability, but if it can help us get Jayson I am all for it. I'm not sure Barnes would go for that. It doesn't make him feel wanted at all and he should be concerned that he'd be dropped from the program as soon as Tatum moves on. I think you have to sell him on the idea that we weren't 100% sure that he could play at this level and didn't want to offer him a scholly just to sit on the bench. Based on his recent play we are now convinced that he can play significant minutes at SLU and thus we'd like to extend an offer.
