RM's made it official

And Tom Timmermann has made it "official" that he reads this board. Good work, Mr. T.

Hrmm? Maybe I am just missing it.

Timmerman is a nice guy. However he didn't exactly express his admiration for this forum last year to me in Atlantic City.

Everything we've been discussing on the board was addressed by Timmermann and Majerus in the article, so that's evidence that Mr. T reads the board -- not irrefutable, but still evidence.

Read TT's article today. RM basically saying he's not sacrificing his system to fit this year's personnel. He's conceded this year will be a struggle and probably next year as well. The most we can hope for this year is to see players get comfortable in his system, especially TL, KL, BE, and PE so at least we have some foundation to build on with the incoming class. Also, that we land a couple of solid JUCO's that will make this transition period a little easier to swallow. But it's clear now this year is going to be a "test track year" rather than a year to try and win races. He's not going to give in and say, ok let's do something you're comfortable with. Very telling about our woeful shooting when TL gets scolded for taking a 16 footer, "that's not a shot we like", then passes on a wide open 3 because of doubt. As many have noted on here, you can't shoot well if you're trying to decide in a nano second if this is a good shot or a bad shot. Well, no one ever said it was easy being a Billiken fan.

How selfish is that, rm is an a_ _ hole. KL and TL should transfer as soon as possible. TT put this in the news paper.

P.S.: Just because he doesn't admire the forum doesn't mean he can't read it to get a sense of what makes his readership tick.

I'm not sure it can be called 'evidence' though. He's watching the same team that everyone here is watching, so naturally the same issues will be addressed in his blog and articles. If I didn't look at this page all season but saw all 11 games this team has played, I'm still pretty sure I could guess the major concerns on this board. Maybe he comes over here to check what's going on, maybe he doesn't.

It is clear he reads this board. He has wrote multiple articles that directly related to topics that were being discussed here right before the articles were written. I think it is smart on his part.

The fact he does not admire this board probably goes back to some of the beatings he took on here in the past. Some of those beatings were uncalled for.

Brian-they don't need to be mutually exclusive. His disdain for the media reflects his disdain for the fanbase since we get our info from the media.

Does it show disdain or the fact that he believes he has more important things to be doing right now? After watching this team so far, I think he has more important things to do.

It will be fun to see where all the anti-RM people stand when this turns around. This program is not the little mom and pop operation it used to be. Right or wrong that means the closeness that we felt to the program is going to change. It is just the way big time athletics operate and unless you are a big time donor like Novelly, Tucci, Chaifetz, and others on that level it will never be the same kind of access. Get used to it. We all wanted big time and this is what comes with big time. Seriously, if you don't like it find another team to root for or get used to it quick. You are going to be miserable otherwise.

brian, just to clarify, few of the folks that are upset right now are saying majerus is a mistake or actually wish him gone. i think most of us are just disappointed this season is taking such a nasty turn. i know i am 100% convinced that he is a great hire and in the long run will lead us to the promised land. i just dont like the sacrifices he is making to get there. i admire him so much and believe in his abilities that i think it could have been accomplished AND not sacrifice this season and the likely soon to be departure of probably 3-4 really good kids and good basketball players who just dont fit his profile of his basketball player.

there is a big difference. expectations should be higher for the likes of a rick majerus over a brad soderberg. majerus has earned that over his lifetime. and quite frankly we are paying for that. but i dont want any other coach to be the billiken coach than rick majerus. and i doubt most others want him gone either. if that is incorrect, than i am misreading the attacks. the attacks i am reading just are disappointed he has thrown this team under the bus instead of inspiring them to be all they can and using the tools he as to achieve the most he can now.

Would agree with Broy, this isn't like last year when a lot of us were saying UB had to go. But have to disagree that he's throwing this team under the bus. How's he doing that? He's trying to make them better, even TL's said that. This is not an unusual situation, ie adjustment w/ players and new coach. But no, I don't think we're holding a town meeting at St. X cathedral any time soon calling for his resignation or dismissal.

Roy, I know there are two groups of upset fans right now. There is definitely a group out there that is anti-Rickma at this point. You can see it in their tone. You can see it in the shots they are taking at the coach. I am just amazed at the number of people that are righting this season off after 11 games. Just amazed.

It all comes down to wins and losses. How many more wins do people think we should have now?

i had us at 8-2 right now. and if i had predicted the score of the two losses i had figured (pitt and boston college) they would have both looked like the pitt game.

imo, the worst is yet to come. i had assumed all along that the a-10 was going to be substantially better and it would be tough to make the top 4 this coming season. now with us playing as we are now and the a-10 indeed being this good, realistically our conference mark instead of being the 8-8 i previously thought, might be more like 5-11 unless something flips around real quick.

You had us winning at MSU and KSU? I think you were overly optimistic even under the best scenarios.

why is that? missouri state lost more returning and key players than we did and i had no clue that kent state was that good.

My friends; the Bills will be lucky to win 10games this yr. So grit your teeth, next year will be much better.

Ten wins really? You only see 4 more wins if we are lucky?

brain, while i think we will win more than 4, probably more like 8, i think only loyola, lasalle, richmond, and st bonnie are looking like heavy favorites.
