I have reached billiken_roy levels of posting (7/7)

  1. I really don't think CTF trusted him ..... CTF only went so deep and Curcic wasn't one of them. He used him only when things pressed despite the kid having good results as you have pointed out in the past.
  2. If he was recruited by Harriman, he went with Harriman. Kids sign with coaches.
  3. I think slu92 should change his moniker to "I Hate Chris May." All his posts say the same thing.
  4. @73Billiken: why not? Joe Bamisile did it very well for VCU ..... Va Tech, Geedubya, Oklahoma and then VCU. For what it's worth, Verbal Commits has neither Ezewiro nor Zhang transferring. They do have Magassa, Parker, medley, Jimerson and van Bussel.
  5. I think Hughes is at best average. I've always wondered why he had no collegiate offers .... was that because all thought him a lock for SLU due to his dad? I've watched him closely over the season. While he is athletic, he rarely was an offensive option when the game was in the balance. We couldn't defend the three yet he was helping out on lane passes only to get burned on threes with the return. I think he has a place, but at best he and Curcic are really the same player with plusses and minuses affecting both. One or the other, not both. I'd keep Hughes, but as the eighth or ninth man. Fourth guard at best.
  6. The whole roster is essentially gone. Depends on how you take that ... good or bad. But one thing is certain, there will be no "he was a Travis Ford recruit" excuses as next year unfolds.
  7. Article and others say Donovan is the splash hire. Hurley has been and always will be an East Coast guy. He can play a substantial raise out of this and another title. Wright has an easy TV gig and speculation is he wants no part of the portal and NIL. Pitino is a no way and is currently 71 years old. Oltzerberger and Oats have huge buyouts. Pearl has significant baggage as we all know. Bryce Drew appears second choice. Tommy Lloyd a west coast guy.
  8. Top Nine list for UK: Jay Wright, Danny Hurley, Rick Pitino, TJ Otzelberger, Bryce Drew, Nate Oats, Bruce Pearl, Tommy Lloyd, and Billy Donovan (per speculative article).
  9. SLU Hires Josh Schertz as the Head Coach of the Billikens (a10talk.com)
  10. @White Pelican: thanks. Good to know.
  11. I think the most amazing thing in general about the team is that this will be their 40th game of the season. FORTY!
  12. I am curious as to the current state of transfer rules in terms of if or how many ISU kids will transfer with Schertz. If you recall, we have quite a few JUCO transfers over time because we didn't have a PE major and therefore JUCOs with PE AA degrees were having a hard time getting in. Does stuff like that still apply? Anybody know what the ISU majors are? Or has that gone the way of sit-out transfers and APR rates?
  13. @Cowboy II:You are mixing up two separate facts. The first is that no matter who comes here as a big, developmental time will be necessary no matter. If you are good enough to play as a freshman (see Kalkbrenner, White, Woods, etc.) you are going elsewhere not little Saint Louis University. The second fact is that Ford developed very little in ways of big men ..... if Okoro is the answer as Hoozer says, he regressed his fourth year. DJ Foreman got no better either from CTF Year One to CTF Year Two. He went from 6.9 ppg and 3.4 rpg to 6.1 ppg and 4.3 rpg; down a point, up a rebound. You really want the big man shame, look no further than Hasahn French. French's freshmen numbers were 9.3 ppg and 7.1 rpg as a freshman to 9.2 ppg and 7.4 rpg as a senior. Can you imagine French with even a five foot jump shot? @HoosierPal: if you think eight years and two marginally acceptable post players are good enough to give a coach a passing grade, good for you.
  14. Conklin was a 6'6" power forward pressed into playing center his senior year. Lorentson is listed as a big in the Verbal Commits roster. That's my rationale. Ezewiro I won't argue on. Okoro went downhill by all estimations from his junior to senior year.
