  1. I think he said something about when the alumni come back to basketball games, hopefully they'll have won a game this century or something to that effect.
  2. Why does it feel like we're winning by 2?
  3. Is there no fast-forward button. I need there to be one.
  4. if the ball is not in anyone's hands, 9 times out of 10, Evans will be around it.
  5. I love coming out of a meeting to find out we're up 16 pts. Best surprise after a crappy day.
  6. Oh, I would definitely not want a Mike Anderson-style mass substitution 5 for 5, but the group that wouldn't start has potential to be just as effective as the starting group. Not that starting really matters, especially in college basketball. Injuries aside, Willie gets his act right, and that I personally don't see anyone transferring, RM has a good amount of flexibility in his combinations and match-ups next year. As has been stated before on this board, we're going to be a more experienced team that has learned from the mistakes in close losses and close wins and that doesn't crap their pants when RM rips them a new one. We'll have more guys who want the ball when the chips are down and who know what to do with it. It surely can be frustrating as a coach and especially as a player to have 10 court-worthy players and good people on your team, and not enough minutes to go around. It's going to be a dog fight for minutes next year, but if the intra-team competition stays positive, and they have everyone back, SLU men's bball 2011-2012 could be a dangerous team. Heck, maybe we'll make some free throws.
  7. I love the fact that we have, in some way, shape, form or puzzle, 2 potential starting groups. They can sub in for one another and we won't lose our momentum. Where we could lose three point shooting or size we could make up for in better slashers or more athletic players. Each rotation will obviously have its strengths and weakness. Barring some unnatural disaster, RM will have to appreciate the fact that he doesn't have to look at his bench and say "Who the eff am I supposed to play now?" Also, I see that many people would like to see RL and WR start together. I'm not a fan of that idea considering that both players' conditioning has been and potentially will be very suspect. We'll have our two tallest guys extremely winded 3-4 minutes into the game/possession and RM'll have to potentially make some substitutions that will take us from quite big to moderately big when he won't have to do that by not having RL and WR play at the same time. I'm not saying they will never play together, but I see that potentially messing up the rotation for the remainder of the half.
  8. Totally agree with you on that, well when JB proves me wrong, someone's getting the death glare.
  9. Haha, I would be that troll you're referring to and again, a trusted insider told me how he doesn't play great D in practice and he doesn't drive that much. People are so quick to throw this troll term out there just because of opinions/statements that are different than those of the board and that aren't meant to incite mass panic/backlash. I've never said anything that was meant to be inflammatory. Okay, Moser and Majerus said different, I was just merely stating what I was told, I am obviously not at practice everyday. If I see Barnett playing tough D, I'll punch my source in the face and call them a blind idiot, or maybe JB doesn't play D in practice too much because he's not playing, but acts completely different in games. geez
  10. Kirk Franklin is a gospel singer, makes sense since JB's pretty spiritual. I saw him this summer and he's definitely a gritty type player, but I was just pointing out something an insider told me.
  11. Considering a player on the team told me this, I'm definitely trolling.
  12. I hear Barnett doesn't play a lick of d, doesn't drive much, and just shoot tres. He'll be deadly for us outside, but I'd' be worried about him scoring 20 and so does the guy he guards.
  13. If I remember correctly, he just may have a 7' wing span. Don't take my word for it.
  14. I question whether Loe has a chance to make it. Yeah he played great yesterday: hit the threes he was signed on to make, blocked shots, and boarded, but look at his conference stat line: ## GP-GS Min--Avg FG-FGA Pct 3FG-FGA Pct FT-FTA Pct Off Def Tot Avg PF FO A TO Blk Stl Pts Avg 51 RL 13-9 211 16.2 30-73 .411 15-41 .366 8-13 .615 10 28 38 2.9 25 1 12 19 8 6 83 6.4 Here's Evans and McCall: 21 DE 13-12 336 25.8 49-99 .495 0-2 .000 31-50 .620 33 64 97 7.5 35 1 15 21 10 7 129 9.9 11 MM 13-12 372 28.6 46-120 .383 18-55 .327 17-23 .739 5 25 30 2.3 38 1 30 23 1 13 127 9.8 And now some examples of the aforementioned competition: TJ McC 12-11 30.5 48-107 .449 14-42 .333 15-23 .652 6 34 40 3.3 18 0 52 12 2 34 125 10.4 Staten 13-13 28.3 45-112 .402 2-5 .40 22-33 .667 5 30 35 2.7 17 0 65 30 0 10 114 8.8 Rob's a great kid and although I harshly bashed his basketball skills in my first billikens.com post, he for sure has gotten better, but I don't see how he could make that team. I do understand some people here will have a bias and feel vindicated or what not in someway if all three were to make it but I'd be surprised if he did just by comparatively looking at the numbers.
