Brad to Loras College as Interim AD?
sp_billiken replied to sp_billiken's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
Here is the announcement: http://www.loras.edu/athletics/ -
Still looking for an official announcement, but I'm hearing that Brad and the family have already moved to Dubuque where he accepted a one-year contract to be interim athletic director at Loras College.
-
I don't think he should have been arrested, but doesn't it make you wonder where he gets enough cash to be able to do that and not miss it?
-
A darn good source on the Badger message board is saying that Greg Gard (UW #1 assistant) and Brad are finalists at Toledo. It seems like that would be a nice fit for Kramer as well.
-
I haven't seen much here or elsewhere lately. I take it that he lost out on the Mich. assistant job. Any other feelers out there for him? Thanks.
-
I've done a complete flip due to the timing of this whole thing. It sure didn't take Kentucky very long to come to terms that were a lot higher stakes in terms of total package than this. If RM REALLY wanted to be here, I think it would be announced by now. Since it's not, I'm leaning much more toward hiring a lesser-named coach who really wants to be here.
-
What he really wants is an excuse not to make the deal. KM - I don't have any super-inside info, but I think you hit the nail on the head.
-
Has his name been mentioned anywhere?
-
There were always rumors up in Wisc that Dick Bennett got the job because of an influential booster. Dick brought in Brad from U of South Dakota, etc. RadDad - Do you remember that stuff? As I remember, consensus was that it was valid. Anyway, there should be some quote here that's appropriate. "Live by the sword, die by the sword?" I wish Brad and his family the best. He is a real good guy.

Per OJ, Kramer made the 17U Eagles roster

Sorry, my bad. I don't know about them all being 17, only Kramer. -
Brad mentioned as a candidate for the Iowa State job

Courtside: I think we agree more than we disagree. You raise some good points. -

Hoops, for now, sure...it is on par with SLU.......play-wise.....venue-wise, off campus... 2 NCAA tourneys in 2 years and they're "on par" with SLU? Look at how quickly UW-M was able to turn itself around, if perhaps only temporary. Why hasn't SLU been able to do that with LR and BS? I'm not ready to put them in with the big boys, but if I'm a kid looking to commit to a program, I have to rate them higher right now in terms of basketball than SLU. Remember, these are 18 year old kids with pretty short memories. Also, not to be argumentative, but it's much easier to keep a borderline kid eligible at UW-M than SLU. -

Remember, they made U17 because they are too old for U16. Still a great accomplishment, but Kramer is an "old" sophomore who turned 17 in January. Still, a heckuva nice kid and an excellent ballplayer. -

1. I wouldn't put much stock in the Brad / Jamie Pollard connection. Jamie was Alvarez and Richter's guy. Richter was the one that let Brad go. 2. I would agree that Brad's relative success or lack of would not have him as a candidate for No. Iowa's job. However, Bball coaches like schools with football programs. It adds name recognition and helps in recruiting and campus visits. 3. Brad is catholic (as has been mentioned.) He is also what I would call a charismatic catholic who used to be (maybe still is) active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. 4. Is UW-M a better job than SLU? Maybe doesn't pay as much, but MUCH easier to get kids into school and keep them eligible. Personally, I don't think he's going anywhere, but not necessarily because he wants to stay at SLU, rather that there is not a lot of interest in him in places he'd consider a step up. Fun to speculate!
