cgeldmacher
Tied with Mizzou, Nebraska, and New Hampshire. Not sure about New Hampshire, but being tied with the other two doesn't elicit warm fuzzy feelings. Still, being in the top 100 isn't bad. cgeldmacher
Other interesting notes: Maryville University in West County finished at 156 tied with VCU and slightly above Rhode Island. University of North Dakota and University of South Dakota finished tied at 168. North Dakota State and South Dakota State finished tied at 181. Duquesne 116, DePaul 121, Temple 121, George Washington 54 Some other schools, like Xavier, were not ranked nationally, but regionally. Not sure if it was the school's choice or the publication. brownwolves
Sep 09, 2014 | St. Bonaventure University is ranked No. 3 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 list of best values in the North — the highest ranking for any college in New York. The ranking is St. Bonaventure’s highest ever on U.S. News’ “Great Schools, Great Prices” list of Best Regional Universities in the North, which includes colleges that offer a full range of master’s degree programs. U.S. News ranked St. Bonaventure No. 5 for value in 2014. JMM28
These rankings are evolving similarly to high school athletics. They keep adding classifications so damn near any school is top 10 in some small subcategory.

Bizziken
I have a particular interest in these rankings from year to year given their relative importance in the eyes of students, parents, and even professionals. It's fascinating to see how the methodology has evolved over the years... SLU's Rankings - 2011 we were 86 - 2012 we were 90 - 2013 we were 92 - 2014 we were 101 - 2015 we are 99 This article discusses how the rankings-obsessed former President of Northeastern University improved the school from 162nd to into the Top 50... http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/article/2014/08/26/how-northeastern-gamed-the-college-rankings/ Their (Northeastern's) 5 year increase - 69 in 2011 - 62 in 2012 - 56 in 2013 - 49 in 2014 - 42 in 2015 Also interesting is UMass's rise - 99 in 2011 - 94 in 2012 - 97 in 2013 - 91 in 2014 - 76 in 2015 (WTF???) As someone who has been to Northeastern's campus on more than a few occasions, known students and professors from Northeastern, and even watched a few of their course videos, I can say that, without a doubt, SLU is the better institution in my opinion. And that's not to say that Northeastern is a bad school by any stretch of the imagination. When I was at SLU in the mid-2000s, the aspirations were to catch Fordham and be a Top 50 school (I think we were in the low 70s at the time). I'm not sure what happened, but hopefully an upward trend starts soon.

Box and Won
Per the U.S. News profile, SLU is 58.5% female. This should be a major selling point to dudes.
brianstl
Per the U.S. News profile, SLU is 58.5% female. This should be a major selling point to dudes. I think that is pretty close to the national average now.
Pistol
-what is your expectation as to the time for "Fred" to right the ship? Certainly not already. He's still new. But with each of the next few releases, I'd like to see that ranking keep going back down to where it was. I think it was in the low 70s when I attended (2001-2005). Biondi's last years saw it going in the wrong direction.
TheChosenOne
But with each of the next few releases, I'd like to see that ranking keep going back down to where it was. I think it was in the low 70s when I attended (2001-2005). I was going to ask what the ranking was when we were in school. It is kind of crazy to look at the schools ranked around SLU. A lot of those schools would seem like a lot more fun to attend (big time football programs with passionate fans), have better facilities (primarily funded by taxpayers), and cost a heck of a lot less, kind of a tough sell for SLU.
