Shaun Pratl has made a decision. After weighing his options--should I play basketball or football in college?--the 6-8, 210-pound senior from Richards has decided to concentrate on basketball.

"The recruiting process has been very frustrating for him," Richards basketball coach John Chappetto said. "He lost out on a couple of basketball scholarships because he wasn't committed yet and they went ahead and got someone else. Because he wasn't sure which sport he wanted to concentrate on, schools didn't express as much interest as he would have liked."

Now interest figures to pick up. Pratl already has basketball offers from Illinois State, Indiana State and Eastern Illinois. But St. Louis and Indiana-Fort Wayne already are expressing interest and Chappetto expects more calls as word of Pratl's commitment spreads.

anyone have any idea how good this kid is?

wonder if we have a shot at him

it will be interesting to see how the competition list changes (or not) now that he has renounced football. he could be good but the bcs'rs were staying away because of the possibility of him taking football.

if that list doesnt quickly change now that he has defined his future plans more, that would likely speak volumes as the list mentioned above isnt all that impressive of other schools recruiting him considering his very attractive physical dimensions of 6'8" and 210 lbs.

It will change. The list of decent Midwestern big men is paltry this year.

this is Illinois.com and I quote Daniel Poneman "currently Wisconsin Green-Bay, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Loyola, Penn State, and Dayton are the other schools recruiting Pratl for basketball, with Wisconsin Green-Bay, Indiana State, Loyola, and Illinois State recruiting him the hardest. Virginia, Michigan State, Illinois, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Iowa and Notre Dame are recruiting Pratl to play football."

so why do we think we just discovered him? his football recruiting was active as tight end and show him 6 8 and 230lbs probably drops weight for BB
