  1. As long as sports are tied to college education, there's a somewhat logical length of time that a career can last. As toothless as the NCAA has become, I don't see careers stretching over the existing 6-year limit. But hey, you're the lawyer, not me. By the way, midseason transfers already exist. I'm not sure why that's part of this particular argument.
  2. I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you saying there will be a lawsuit stating that they can stay eligible within the NCAA indefinitely? They're already not restricted to 4-year careers - athletes have 6 years in which to play 4 full seasons.
  3. We're going to see some of the bloat exit in 2025 after the final season of COVID bonus players work through the system. However, I expect to see every stall tactic possible from players. Everyone is going to take advantage of the grad transfer rule now. If players have any chance at all to redshirt, medical or otherwise, you'll see them go for it. Any way to stretch a 4-year career into 5 will be utilized. And it's hard to blame them as long as the market exists.
  4. Some big announcements in the next couple days should calm your nerves.
  5. We don't know yet. Enough people are following closely enough that when we have any information on Williford, it will be shared here. Yes. It goes through May 15. It will be more of a trickle than the week-long period in the fall.
  6. This upcoming season is the last possible time to use a COVID bonus year. I don't disagree that the market has gotten out of control. I still think we're going to see it cool when some of these really high dollar signings don't pan out, or at least don't turn out to be worth high-6 or low-7 figures to the fans who funded the deals. I like the endorsement side of NIL. Every time I see a college athlete pop up in an ad, I remember there's no reason we couldn't have had that all along. And had they allowed that all along (back before CBB and CFB became multi-billion-dollar industries), it probably would've prevented the out of control super PAC-style unregulated NIL market that we all hate- expensive to compete, devoid of transparency, and chock full of unscrupulous actors.
  7. No matter what your long-term recruiting strategy is, if you're in a major market, you can't just stop recruiting it. There are going to be HS prospects from STL with the ability to play immediately. You can't be a passive observer letting those guys all go to other schools.
  8. Yeah, there was very little recruiting activity this entire season. They basically offered a few juco players and that was it. Offered some local kids last year but then didn't maintain those relationships.
  9. Lamont Evans is also in the portal.
  10. The Recruiting Lists thread has been updated as follows: 2024 offer names have been updated, but these are still the players that Ford's staff offered. Because the recruiting cycle is so short for a new coach in the spring, I'm not updating it with Schertz's offers for this class. It is unlikely any of these players are still in play for this cycle. 2025-2027 offers from Ford's staff will remain. Most of these will become stale if they aren't stale already, but there is the chance that Schertz's staff refreshes some of them. I keep all offers listed for documentation purposes, regardless. 2024-2027 interest names for the previous staff have been removed. Remaining interest names are only players that the previous staff recruited and the new staff follows. Interests have not been updated to reflect all recruits the new staff is tracking. I will let the dust settle a bit from this period and then pay attention to the new recruits they're pursuing in the 2025 class and beyond. I still have to do updates on 2025-2027 in terms of recent offers, interests, etc. Much like the previous staff, I have not done a lot in recent months. That will be changing now.
  11. Not Conwell. Swope and Avila Thursday.
  12. I've searched but can't find anything about who it is.
  13. Graves was his lead recruiter. Seems like Indiana State is still his most likely landing spot. I'm still not sure about Alderink or Birmingham, the other 2 ISU signees.
  14. It sounds like the Dutch kid coming in this weekend would be a good get if Nitu stays committed to Graves and ISU. Max Pikaar, 6-11, 200. Very fluid stretch big. Skinny but a good fit.
