  1. The good news is. . . he's well-known for picking losers. (just about every investment - Solyndra, etc.) Let's hope the streak continues!
  2. German Village has lots of great neighborhood bars and restaurants. . . AND if you are into reading at all, you really need to visit the Book Loft www.bookloft.com
  3. Short North (www.shortnorth.org) Easton Town Center (www.eastontowncenter.com) German Village (www.germanvillage.com) One of the best zoos in the country. . . (Jack Hanna is director) (www.columbuszoo.org) The auto show is in town at the convention center. . . I believe there is free admisson with NCAA tix stub.
  4. FYI - for anybody who is in town on Thursday- practice is free and open to the public: THURSDAY – MARCH 15 Nationwide Arena open to the public for FREE during the players practice Noon-12:40 p.m. North Carolina St. 12:45-1:25 p.m. Belmont 1:30-2:10 p.m. San Diego St. 2:15-2:55 p.m. Georgetown 4:25-5:05 p.m. Memphis 5:10-5:50 p.m. Michigan St. 5:55-6:35 p.m. Saint Louis 6:40-7:20 p.m. LIU Brooklyn
  5. Good luck with the hotel. . it is probably home to a lot of long-term residents. I wonder if you complain to Expedia based on Trip Advisor comments, etc. if they would refund you. It is on West Broad Street, so you can go east on Broad to get to downtown (5 minutes)The west side of town is not a place you go for much although the far west side will be home to Columbus' first casino in the fall.
  6. Very excited just to see that Billikens were in. Coming to Columbus is even better as I purchased tickets back in the winter when the NCAA put them on sale. I don't think my daughter can make it on Friday since she is starting a clinical rotation this week so the Bills need to win to get to Sunday when she can get to town.
  7. Holiday Inn hotel is fine. . is not really walking distance to the Arena unless you really like to walk. It is about an 8-block walk to German Village, though, so you would be closer to that area.
  8. I wanted to reply after reading some of the discussion here. I am a father of a SLU student who is finishing up this May. I have enjoyed my many trips to St. Louis to visit and attend Billiken games and have enjoyed reading this site to keep up on the Billikens from long-distance. (THANKS especially for posting game streaming information) I have also lived in Columbus for 30 years. First of all, welcome to everyone coming to town this weekend. I really think you will enjoy the town. Secondly, DON'T stay at the Knights Inn at 70 and West Broad Street. Calling that hotel "downtown is a stretch". .. If you want to save some hotel bucks by avoiding the true downtown hotels, it is a better bet to go north or northwest. (Hilliard, Dublin, Campus, Worthington) Columbus is a pretty easy town to get around in if you have a car. Unfortunately, our public transportation is almost non-existant. Cabs are beginning to become more prevalent. Someone asked about the Crowne Plaza. . it is downtown and is a nice property and is an easy walk to the games. There is also a Drury Inn close by. The Arena District is a great area with a lot of bar/restaurants, but also noteworthy is an area called the Short North (from the Arena, go east to High Street and then North on High toward the Arches. It is an easy walk from the Arena District and full of Bars, unique restaurants, shops, etc. north of there is OSU campus which is worth a look if you haven't seen Ohio Stadium, etc. We also have an area south of downtown (little too far to walk) called German Village which will remind folks of Soulard. Brick streets and lots of restaurants and bars. Hope this helps some of you out and GO BILLIKENS!!
