  2. Welcome Josiah! Can't wait to see you play.
  3. Not a stretch 4, but looks like he has legit power forward size, listed at 6' 9" 221. Hasn't played much for Miami, but was highly regarded out of high school. While he wouldn’t stretch the floor, if you have an inside guy who requires a double team, it leaves an open shooter on the perimeter. It depends on how he develops. I'm sure Schertz has explained how he fits.
  4. In today's game they may have different ideas about NIL value
  5. I was really hoping to get Turnbull. I hope is next place works out. I thought this was the perfect system for him. We only have 2 bigs and one is a very skinny freshman and a foriegn player and they often have difficulty getting cleared to play.
  6. We have been pining for stretch bigs and a coach that knows how to use them since Majerus passed. We now have 2 in Robbie and Mako. Now hoping Turnbull joins the party. Schertz has a great story in developing Robie, especially with his limmited athletic abilities. I was super impressed during Indiana States tournament run that Robbie didn't get into foul trouble when defending bigger and more athletic big men. He has a high basketball IQ. Come on Connor, this is the best place for you!
  7. Using a surfing analogy, we missed that wave. All we can do is prepare for the next wave, whether it's Big East or something else, like a new basketball only conference.
  8. I would love to see Turnbull sign. I think he is supposed to visit in next couple of days.
  9. Carr is also entering the NBA, draft.
  10. I will take issue with this. Sorry Zack this takes some reading: You can't have 5 guys who can't bring the ball up the floor, or 5 guys who are short and can't defend the rim. Identifying positions and players to those positions, helps in identifying team needs. For example, every team needs a player who can bring the ball up the floor under heavy, on ball pressure. That's a 1 or point guard. Every team has a second best ball handler who can bring the ball up the floor under moderate pressure and assist against full court pressure. That's a 2 guard or shooting guard. 3 guard or small forward is generally an offensive player who does not handle the ball under pressure. The 4 or power forward, is generally the second tallest player on the floor who can hold his ground near the basket, rebound and protect the rim. The 5 is generally the tallest player who protects the post on defense. There are over lapping skills, like 4s compared to 5s. Schertz 5 out offense reduces the significance of height in the half-court, because players can all hit 3s and pull defenders away from the basket. Though on defense, you are still looking at a conventional man to man or zone. Someone has to stop the apposing 6'9" and 6'11" post players. Numbering the positions makes it easier to analyze and talk about. If it were truly positionless, just take your 5 best players and put them on the floor without regard to their positions.
  11. Kent gone, might make the SLU opportunity look better to Turnbull.
  12. GIBSON JIMMMMERSON will thrive in this system!
