To accurately determine 'acceptable progress', especially in conference play, we have to see the state of each A-10 team. It's still early, so some things may change. <I emailed this to a friend a few weeks ago>

A lot of teams lose their best player but return practically everybody else (Davidson, Dayton, Richmond, VCU) so they should still be pretty good. It will be interesting to see how these teams adapt.
In my opinion, GW and Rhodey look to be the frontrunners going into next season, along with whoever can best replace the loss of their best player from the teams mentioned above.

RT @JoshuaParrott: Fordham F Eric Paschall announced he has permission to contact other schools. A-10 FRofYR/15.9 PPG/5.5 RPG as 6-6 FR. 3-star recruit from NY

RT @JonRothstein: Fordham's Eric Paschall will transfer, per the school. Three years of eligibility remaining. Long line for this one.

Wow...that's huge. I'll edit. I don't understand why Fordham didn't give Pecora 1 more year.

His dad played at LaSalle. It's crazy how successful the Explorers are at getting high level transfers.

Based on what the rest of the league is returning, expecting us to leapfrog 6 of them isn't realistic, as brian noted elsewhere. The preseason mags will pick us to finish near the bottom again. A record above .500 would put Crews in the running for his third Coach of the Year honor in 4 years. If expecting something closer to 8-10 makes one a Crews apologist, then I'm a Crews apologist.

Interesting exercise and good idea, Bizziken.

Another edit to the list: Derrick Gordon just announced he's transferring out of UMass for his final season.

Looks like most teams in the conference will improve marginally, given the high percentage of returning players. LaSalle and Bonaventure should both drop deeper back into the bottom half after being mid-tier teams this season. I could also see VCU being slightly down from this season.

I saw that Gordon transferred. That's crazy...I would add UMass to the list of teams that drop. 3 of their best players gone will hurt.

Also, Detwon Rogers transferred from Dayton...I thought he had a chance to take over Sibert's spot, but it looks like that's going to be Charles Cooke.

I don't expect to see a drop-off at Dayton despite losing Rogers and Sibert. They add some much needed size and depth. I could also see a nice transfer or two landing there.

But yeah, UMass, Bona, VCU, and LaSalle will probably all be down from this season, although VCU always manages to stay an NCAA Tournament-level team. We'll probably still see some other transfers head out from the league, too.

Like 3star says above, I don't think there's enough drop-off from the bottom half teams for us to leap frog very many. We're still a long way off.

Any other coaches on the block? Is Martelli still hanging on for another year?

We can be a much better team and still be something like 7-11 in conference, if the conference is much better too.

This is kind of what I'm expecting. Unfortunately (but probably fairly) results matter. So if we still aren't winning, it won't be a fun year on this board. Still I have no idea what to expect and as I said in another thread, I'm not going to let some positive or negative vibes this summer change that. Next year could be anything for us. I won't do too much speculation.

Bonaventure just got a commitment from Courtney Stockard, a 6'5'' JuCo who is originally from St. Louis (Jennings). Anybody know anything about him?

Undersized 4. Slasher, can't shoot. Improved immensely since HS though.

Fits in with St Bonaventure. He's long and can score. He looks more like a player than he actually is. The Bonnies collect guys like him, swingman size, wingspan of a 7 footer, poor athletes.

you guys have to make that long journey to Otterville this season ..... we'll finish this discussion then.

I have a feeling that your opinion of the St Louis native Courtney Stockard will improve after the post-game interview.

Let's go Bonas
