  1. Rick was one of my favorite coaches of all time. He was a Great American and one of a kind. It is a tragic loss, and my prayers are with all of those in pain tonight. May God Bless Rick Majerus.
  2. "I would rather be lucky than good" X is lucky no doubt, but we just made our 4th Sweet 16 in 5 years. That Lehigh team also won 27 games, and we were down 15. I wasn't feeling so lucky then, those guys can flat out ball and I give them the respect they deserve. And beating Duke in the tournament would have made us heros, so those bastards did steal that chance from us. I would have loved to beat Duke. That would be the stuff of Xavier legend. Lehigh took that away and they damn near beat us too. I wouldn't mind playing them a home and home. At some point you make your own luck. Tu Holloway is playing in his third Sweet 16. Kid is a baller. Frease gave us his best game of his entire career in the NCAA tournament. For all the crap people give that kid, he is playing in his 10th NCAA game against Baylor, and I wouldn't be surprised if he puts up another double-double. That kid is playing well in the senior stretch. I think that SLU was strong in the Dance, the Bonnies were strong in the Dance, Xavier is strong in the Dance, and of course you have another Temple fail. Tell you the truth, I won't miss them. They are gone anyway, and the power shifts to the west and my Catholic brethern. This is truely our league now, let us all prosper. I won't miss Temple. I don't see this league skipping a beat without them either.
  3. It is always hard when the final whistle blows. That will never change. You guys fought hard against one of the best teams in the game, and never let up. Moral victories aren't what we want, but you guys did well and should keep your heads up. The future is bright. The most disappointing thing for me is that I was looking forward to seeing you guys play the next game. Get past Michigan State and why stop at all? I would have been rooting for your guys to make the Final Four. I already said that you guys got screwed on your seeding, and I think a fair case can be made for that by your fine tournament performance as well. You guys had a great year, and I expect more in the future. And losing to Izzo is no shame, because everyone does it. That guy is the mad genius of winning in the tournament. Every year I seem to find a reason to pick against him, and then I end up kicking myself when he wins and wins again. What a rock solid guy too. That is why I was looking forward to this game, two of my favorite coaches. I knew it would be a battle, and a battle it was. With a different bracket you guys would still be dancing. You weren't that far off from taking them down. It is a hard way to end a year, and a very exceptional year for SLU at that. Congrats on your season, and I look forward to rooting for your guys in the non-con next year. With UMass and SJU, and Dayton with Archie Miller and a rebuilding Richmond, this league is going to be fun to watch. This is a great league and I am proud to be affiliated with Saint Louis University. Go Bills! Another thread currently on here predicts that you will be Top 25 next year. Sign me up for that too. Can't wait to see it.
  4. Go Bills Baby! Tomorrow is a huge game, and that makes me Captain Obvious. I really like the matchup in this game. When it first came out I thought it was cruel. I thought it was a crime. Izzo is one of the great ones and he makes the Final Four and wins in the tourney all the time. For the season that you guys had, and the power rankings that the A-10 had, that seeding was horrible. You got screwed, but whatever. Memphis should be complaining more than you right now, and they had a reason to complain too. But who cares? What is done is done. Now we have to play the games. I need a favor from you guys. My bracket pool is limping, and I predicted SLU to the Elite Eight. You guys may be my last best chance.. I wouldn't mind making some coin. I have been looking forward to this game since the start of the tournament. I think you guys are going to win it. I love your balance. I love your inside-out game. I love your guards and the tall guys that can stroke from long range. Most of all I love your defense. It is badass. I love you guys on both sides of the ball. Sorry for getting just one victory out of three this year against you guys, but I still feel it was our best victory of the season. And we needed it, too. I think you guys are going to win tomorrow. For my analysis, it comes down to the big guys you get open to stroke the threes. When you guys get your outside game going, you look unbeatable. Expect Izzo to try to prevent that. I am rooting for your guys hard, and not just for the money. I love Majerus, I read his book and I think he is a great one. You guys really snagged a huge fish there, because that man is an incredible coach. I want to see Izzo vs Marjeus, and this is what the tournament is all about. I think you guys are going to win this game, and the Snipeman will be watching and going batshyt crazy when you do. And then it will dawn on all of you, and it will be a beautiful dawn. Once you win this game, there is no stopping you. The time is now. I can't wait to watch this game. Good luck Bills!
  5. You are both a poet and a scholar. Good luck SLU. Look forward to rooting 4 teams on in the Big Dance. I like our chances.
  6. SLU is a rock solid lock, and they should be seeded ahead of both Xavier and Bona if the A-10 gets four bids. The notion that they could get bounced with this soft bubble is silly nonsense.
  7. Good luck from a Xavier fan. I was happy when you guys joined the league and esctatic when Rick joined the coaching staff. I have always had high hopes for SLU, and this year you guys proved me right. I think this year will start of string of great ones for the Billikens. Xavier still was on the bubble and needed the game more, and you guys had already dumped us twice, so I think you guys can get over this in short order. I like your chances going forward. I think that SLU has a major advantage stepping out of conference in the NCAA because people are unfamiliar with your style. You pose some very difficult matchup problems and you make people play ugly basketball. SLU is going to be my darkhorse pick to make the Sweet 16 or the Elite 8, and I don't even care who you play. You guys can make some noise for sure, and I will be rooting you on all the way. Glad to have you guys with us in conference, and I look forward to many great battles ahead. Go Billikens!
  8. I think that they do have a plan as well.
  9. Xavier is going to stay in the A-10. We need to find a way to help Fordham back into the Patriot league and then get back to two divisions. I think you guys would like the A-10 a lot better if you played in a division with Xavier and Dayton. The Catholic League is a pipe dream on the Xavier boards too. I love the dream myself. It would be awesome and a great way to promote like minded institutions. Brotherhood and all that. The hoops would be fantastic. I am against the A-10 expansion. 14 teams was too many, and 13 is still too many. The solution to Temple leaving is not inviting Butler in, but getting Fordham out. We only played Temple once a year. If we get rid of Temple and Fordham from the schedule next year I would say it is a wash. Xavier has no interest in playing in the MVC at the present time. No insult to the MVC, they have some great basketball teams. When Pete Gillen was our coach many moons ago he used to talk about the MVC as a possiblity. I think that ship has sailed. I really like the A-10 and I would like to make it better. You guys seem to be doing just fine right where you are. I can't see why we can't be successful in the A-10. Nothing is going to happen in a big way until the basketball schools of the Big East break. That is what people are waiting for, and that could be quite a while for all we know. The A-10 has been great for Xavier.
  10. If the A-10 could get down to 12 teams we could switch back to two divisions. Xavier, Dayton, and SLU could all be in the same division and play home and homes every year. I would add Duquesne, Richmond and Charlotte but you can mix and match the others to your preference. I think if Fordham went back to the Patriot league and the A-10 went divisional it would actually come out a better deal for Xavier, Dayton and SLU than when Temple was actually in the conference. We only played Temple once a year anyway. I would much rather have rivalries and divisional races.
  11. . http://ncaabbs.com/s....php?tid=544361 Some of you guys mentioned him when I came here to talk some smack. I know he hasn't been here since your teams parted conferences, but he seemed to have left an impression. He was 56. For those that he impressed, I wanted to give a heads up. As a Xavier fan I have to say though he was a rival fan he was funny as ###### and quick and cutting with the wit. Just the heads up on that. RIP Gruehls.
  12. Tu has got your *****, swinging. Don't they teach you folk how to spell All-American? What passes for Jesuit education these days... Keep getting better and have a goal to nip at our heels. We would really like someone to at least act like some competition. Glad you guys are ranked. I think Rick is the real deal. Wouldn't be surprised if the next time you weren't ranked was a few years from now. He is that good at the system. Freaking genius. I wonder what he could do with a guy like Brad Redford. Your best years are to come, and I look forward to the battles. Good times my friends. Smell The Glove.
  13. I think a win tomorrow and SLU should be ranked. I will be rooting for you. Good luck.
  14. Good stuff. Even I was starting to get goosebumps. I think every team in the conference is going to hate coming into the Fetz for years to come. At the begining of the year when I looked at the schedule I cringed when I saw we played you guys late in the year and on the road. I would have prefered 1st conference game at the Tas.
  15. Mouseketeers? I don't have the time right now but during the offseason I promise to drop by and go over the finer points of laying down some good smack. This is a good example of what you should not be doing. Many people take the high road and avoid smack which is a respectable option. The key is if you are going to go there you have to go balls out and make a statement. Mouseketeers? I could get that from the Marian wussies at Dayton. We are all Jesuits here, and I am going to have to hold you to a higher standard.
