totally agree. the fact the sycamore fans are upset only proves this is a good move if the Billikens can finish the deal and bring Josh to Saint Louis University.

tatum left CBC to get another level of head coaching than high school. i.e. he is already 2 steps ahead of ahearn. ahearn needs to follow his example now and do the same. tatum already 2 levels ahead of ahearn. -

ummm it's only been 4 years since the NCAA tourney. this past year was the second time under 500 since ford came to Saint Louis University. had it not been for the chinese flu virus slu would have had 5 consecutive 20 win seasons going into this now past season. in 2019 the billikens were in the NCAA tourney. the billikens did get to the NIT a few times in the 10 years. yes no one is content with that. but i dont think it is "down the drain" as you stated. it just isnt what the fandom wants and with the change in rules with pay to play and no penalty for transferring, Ford no longer has any advantage to remain a college coach and it is time to move on. i would hope the powers to be are smart enough not to resort to a shooting coach with no head coaching experience at all. since you obviously dont understand the role of a head coach, that means more than the experience of drawing a play on the floor with chalk during a timeout. a lot more. ahearn needs to go coach a few years in high school you know maybe go to desmet and be the head coach. he wins a state title and then he can go to a juco or D2 job and be a coach. win there after a few years he can then be an assistant on a D1 school. he then could earn a shot as a head coach. i am guessing maybe about 2048 Josh Schertz will be ready to retire after getting to the NCAA over 20 times, numerous sweet 16's plus. then if Ahearn earned his chance he could apply for the Billikens job then. there is nothing wrong with being a good shooting coach. i've read he is good at that. if he isnt content at that, then maybe some college would indeed hire him as an assistant that specializes in that. that could cut a few years off his road to a D1 head coach. but be serious. we arent going to resort to a shooting coach skipping all the experience steps to get to our job. -

i think that is a worthwhile to consider backup plan. but schertz getting snubbed today will not be on as bright of a spotlight had the sycamores got in the tourney and he had won a couple of games. the big boy programs will likely ignore him now. i still say Schertz is plan A -

the question was what would it take to say yes now. i already had everything that you suggest in hand to make the decision. so will Josh Schertz. he has already talked to a number of suitors. so he knows what he can get. ask him what he wants. -

dont even suggest in jest that this would happen. there is no way ahearn should even think he can be the slu head coach. he needs to go put his time in as a head coach on a lower level. go coach DeSmet. go coach a Juco. go be an assistant at a mid major. i wouldnt even think he could do that yet without some lower experience first, but i do admit he is a shooting coach. so he has a known skill to pass on. but what does he know about running an entire team and all the moving parts of such. it is more than rolling the balls out and telling the boys to go get em. no no no way the slu elites that will make this decision are this stupid to hire a guy that has never been a head coach or even a high level D1 asstl -

i agree. if we got the resources, go get him. when i was recruited a number of years back by a competitor, they asked, "what will it take to get you to say yes today?" i told them, they complied and i had a new employer. do the same Saint Louis University. it isnt that hard. dont make this more of a chore than it is. at the level we are recruiting what deep vetting is really needed. hell we have all did deep research on Josh Schertz already. go get him. -
im really enjoying the Dukes. they play belly button defense and they play fast. this is fun to watch. this is what Ford should have been developing the last 8 years but never did.

hahahahahaha those spartan fans sure love their guys. for the life of me, how can ahearn expect to be a coach at a school as high up the ladder as an A10 school when he has never been a head coach? if he wants to be a head coach, maybe he should start out coaching DeSmet, then after 4 or five state championships he can go coach a juco or D3 school. then another 4 or 5 years of top success he can look at a low D1 school and then another few years of 20+ wins and conference championships he can look at the SLU opening sometime around 2045. -
I've never thought much of Grant as a coach.

we would be naive to believe schertz's agent wouldnt try to find an angle for negotiating. i just dont want to spend more than we were paying ford. but we got a lot of room between that number and what Josh was reported to be making in Terre Haute. personally i think Indiana State will be a bigger competitor than Louisville. if schertz goes to louisville he must have really hit a homerun in the meeting with the cardinals. im guessing louisville is looking bigger and more established. but then again payne was so bad maybe their standards have dropped considerably. -
where is everyone getting this? i havent read or heard a thing that indicates he is going to leave SLU. that said, one has to believe some strong run and gun offensive team is sure to come sniffing around. but i havent heard any specifics.
