Recruit (1/7)

  1. Look again, Ian has obviously developed physically. He looks good and I am impressed. slubbfan
  2. Is there much concern about Kevin's dad. He was pretty vocal at the Althoff games I attended and I always got the impression that he was "that dad" who harrasses/helps the coaches. Maybe I am way off-base. I've never met the man, just seen him, and heard about him. That being I love Kevin's game and what he can do for SLU. slubbfan
  3. I'm not suggesting we have a racist program. There are plenty of non-white Chris Sloan's in D1 basketball (E.g. Justin Love). I like Brad as a coach I just want him to open up to the possibility that team chemistry is generated by the team and is not constructed like a play by the coach. Whenever DC got minutes in a game he performed on the court. I don't live on campus so I can't attest to his studies, or practices, etc. slubbfan
  4. I'll trade Drejaj for him straight up right now. I also would question whether LM is better than him. When I saw X play he got beat by KL every time they played but I honestly don't think X was that far behind. Maybe I don't have an eye for talent but after 1 year of D1 practice, and KL coming off a couple injuries, I wouldn't be surprised to see X give KL a run for his money. The only reason I can think of not to get X in the door right away is that he has an attitude problem. After seeing DC run off and JJ benched I am concerned that Brad finds a reason not to like a kid who doesn't dress, act, and look like Chris Sloan. I'm just observing from 300 miles away though... slubbfan
  5. Thanks for the info. I just hope Brad can find a way to light a fire under him because he's got good size, strength and a lot of ability. slubbfan
  6. JJ had 6 boards in 10 minutes!! Wow. Our pf answer is right there. I'm not in STL to see practices but evertime I have seen him play (just twice) he has played hard and well. VN should back him up next year. Put Ian at center with BH behind him and we could be a solid inside team. Why doesn't Brad play this guy more? slubbfan
  7. I like Petro too but he wears me down when they play those stat games like "stump the chump". Hopefully the 810 sports zone will be a sucess. I can't figure out how some many restaurants have failed in such a prime spot. slubbfan
  8. He basically quit, and then when they came back from break they had Doug Fronz doing the show. It sounds like they were supposed to have a permanent co-host and since Billy left Jason has been doing the show all by himself. I guess he either wanted more money or a co-host (Neil Jones) so he could free up his schedule some and corporate said no so he walked. He is a busy dude I don't blame him. DA show in the morning is great. I will only listen to 8:10 for the Royals and pre and post game reports. slubbfan
  9. Could not agree more. Horrible announcing. How many times was there just dead air as the game played on? Also did Spoon have 1 positive thing to say about us??? The old UAB coach was just going on and on about UAB's players and coaches. You could tell he had a passion for the school in his heart. Spoon just stood there and took each punch to the gut. I'm not saying he should act like we have a great team on the floor, we clearly don't. All I'm saying is that when we are on national tv try to say something positive. I was only in STL for Spoon's last year and quite frankly have never been a enamored with him so maybe I am biased here. On a side note when was the last time we won a game on national tv? I've seen to many and been to several and they were all loses. Maybe the KU game in 1999? Overall it was great to see the Bills play. The only other game we've got here in KC was the Iowa game on New Years Eve. Both were close exciting games when our guys played with a lot of heart. Getting a chance to see the team play again here are my thoughts. I really liked what I saw from Polk. A lot of pg's have a hard time handling that kind of pressure and Polk did a good job. Seeming he is a freshman I think he will be very good next year. Also, a lot of people seem to complain about him not shooting enough - I liked his shot selection and am hoping he will look to average around 10 points a game ihe future. Ian and VN played good games down low. Ian seems a bit slow but they both played hard and I was impressed. If we can get that kind of performance next year from those two I will be happy. Izik played great but the team should have looked to him a lot more in the second half. The team doesn't quite seem to understand that you keep the ball in a hot players hand. We will miss him next year. Brown has a lot of potential. I liked the shots he took, and he hit some big 3's. He should definitely start over LM next year. Reggie had a good game all things considered. Hopefully he will play a nice roll with the team for the rest of year. LM looked slow and "out of it" at the end of the game. I'm guessing we had no TO's but he should have looked to pass. Heck Polk should have gone and gotten the ball from him. He has potential to develop into a solid roll player. AD played really hard and I have to respect his several dives trying to keep the ball alive. He has a lot of heart which is great to see. However, his shot looked bad, he picked up bad fouls and he is turnover prone. I really thought we played better basketball with him out of the game. I hope he finds a much smaller role with the team going forward. DC and JJ didn't get to play in a very athletic game. It is apparent to me that coach is trying to run them off. All in all I loved the chance to see SLU play. I am standing by Coach and his decisions. Polk, Brown, Lisch, and Tommy will bring a lot to the table next year. With Ian and VN down low I think this team will be able to compete a lot more next year. SLUBBFAN
  10. Nearly half the time?? I watch Simien play at KU all the time and I would say he does it about 25% of the time. Give Ian a break. slubbfan
  11. I love Drejaj's heart and his ability to take a big shot but he is just too slow. When he brings the ball up the court we are always up againt the shot clock, and his dribbling puts us in trouble. I love it when he makes a big 3 but from the games I have seen this year he is jacking up way to many 3's which are way off. I would play Polk and use Drejaj sparingly. slubbfan
  12. I'm glad to see Brad made some positive adjustments to his lineup. I was thrilled to see the Iowa game on ESPN + on New Year's Eve, and if you werent able to see it you missed an athletic JJ playing hard. He should start the rest of the year, with Izik at the other forward position. TF and Ian should be substitutes, and Husak should see small minutes and continue to prepare for next year. I didn't see or hear the Tulane game but AD looked extremely slow against Iowa, couldn't find his shot and seemed to be a marginal dribbler. I would look to start Brown or Clark in his spot and bring AD off the bench for defensive stops and energy boosts. I don't question his heart, I just question his ability. The biggest problem I could see with the team is horrible spacing, most times every player on the court was between the FT line and the 3 pt. line. Hopefully with the better line-up, and a healthy Bryant, the team will continue to play better. With the following starters I honestly believe this team will have a strong C-USA season: JJ Izik Bryant Polk Brown Clark Dejected but hopeful. slubbfan
  13. I've read a lot of cheesycow's posts and have never once thought that he lacked class or integrity. He may favor MU, but its still refreshing to get some new input every once and a while. slubbfan
  14. To be honest doesn't sound like the kid is all that bad too me. I'm sure we've had plenty of players who used and maybe even sold marijuana. Hopefully he will have a succesful career at Ok. State. slubbfan
  15. I believe it's a library devoted to vatican documents. slubbfan
