slufan13
Anyone hearing anything about our schedule for next year? Doesn't seem like there are any good holiday tournaments left, but we may be able to squeeze into something good. If not, hopefully we can at least get into something better than last year. Also a possibility we could be part of the ACC/A10 doubleheader at Barclays. I don't know why they'd choose us, but I thought someone on here said we were going to be in it. An article from earlier in the year said we renewed the series with Wichita St, but this recent article doesn't have us as a part of their schedule next year. Some posters on the WSU board were saying that WSU wasn't happy that we killed their SOS this year and were hoping to push back the series a year until we're out of rebuilding mode. http://www.kansas.com/sports/college/wichita-state/shockwaves/article13997570.html I think the Indiana St and Vandy series are up. I'd like to see the ISU series replaced with a better team. And either continue the Vandy series or start another series against an improving BCS team on the road. Other games that have been discussed on this board or that we play every year... SIUC - fine with keeping SIUE - get rid of it unless we would just replace it with another terrible team. might as well play the bad local teams if we're going to play bad teams Missouri St - someone said this is happening? Rockhurst - for the love of god, please no unless it's our preseason game Mizzou - maybe when Alden leaves We need to schedule for the 16-17 year when our computer numbers will really matter. But after last season, we may need another appealing home game on the schedule for next year and plus we have a couple series ending that we can replace to give ourselves a boost this year and next. I'd rather have our guys tested going into A10 play so that if we are actually good, we're ready to play, and if we suck again, we get the experience. The bad schedule experiment didn't work this year. Hopefully we learn.
ACE
It would seem like we could get a home-home with a Big East school. In addition to Vandy, I would think some mid to low level BCS programs could be realistic targets for home & home series: Purdue, Kansas State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Tenn., Minnesota. Other programs I would target: SMU, St. Mary's, New Mexico, UNLV (may be interested with McCaw).
hsmith19
I guess if Crews and Cheaney had the hook to get a home and home with Indiana, they would have done it by now. Maybe at least a homecoming game on the road in Crawford's senior year?

Maybe at least a homecoming game on the road in Crawford's senior year? That will probably end up being Ball State or IUPUI... Similar to how we got Portland for Conk instead of Oregon or OSU

SLU_Nick
Moy....you actually remember that? I am pretty sure the bartender was serving each person 2 (double) drinks at a time starting 90 mins before May gave his speech. All I remember was him trying to get us to settle down over the Tribe called quest, or whatever they were.

JMM28
Grrrrrr... Hopefully zombie Majerus comes back to rectify this situation. I'd rather just play SIU, at least their SOS suck of a game is closer for the return game.
cheeseman
I believe MO St. is happening and SIUC is ending. I have no interest in playing SMS or SIUC. Neither helps us nor do they bring a lot fans in unless SMS is playing us here on Winter Break and who needs that stupid mess again. I know SIUC does bring some fans in but really not enough to keep them on the schedule. Of the two if we have to play one of them then SIUC would be my pick but it really is the lesser of two evils. 3star_recruit
I would support a home and home with Tennessee. They are in rebuilding mode just like we are so that's a winnable game. A home and home with Memphis would be even better. Gives Roby a chance to see family and go off on the school that didn't offer him.

The thing is that there aren't a ton of more attractive programs beating down our door to play us home and home.
ACE
Buffalo might be a decent opponent now - they have been ok recently, Whitesell is there now and Reggie played HS ball in Buffalo.

slu72
One would think with all the respect Crews gets from the national media and fellow coaches he could get us a decent schedule. Last year's sucked big time. I know we needed to put a lot of cupcakes on there given the rebuild we're going thru, but it does nothing for generating fan interest. And I thought the WSU games were extended for two more games? Maybe if Jayson picks one of the other 3 schools he'll insist that they schedule a game in his home town. Seems only fair. SLU_Nick
Who actually has the job to build the schedule. In addition to compliance, that is another AD function that we can just outsource to this board. Here is the process: 1. Look up Kenpom rankings and eliminate 300+ 2. Call all big conf bottom feeders with name recognition to see if they will do home/home 3. Call all mid majors with high kenpom stats and ask same question 4. Fill up remaining slots with buy games in the 150-225 kenpom range. There ya go that is my draft. Now the board will poke holes in this and improve it...and then volunteer to be part of the search/scheduling contact commitee. Anyone willing to wager that this is not more robust than the process that actually occurs....ya me neither.

Quality Is Job 1
If some team other than SLU were to be Jayson Tatum's choice, resulting in his request for a game to be played in St. Louis, that team would schedule a neutral site, made-for-TV matchup against a power conference team at Scottrade — possibly as a double-header with the Braggin' Rights game. That is, no SLU, and not at Chaifetz.

That is, no SLU, and not at Chaifetz. While I could see them wanting to play a game at the Scott trade I find the possibility of a double header with the bragging rights game nearly impossible. Why would mizzou and Illinois give up any revenue from a game that is already sold out. You can't sell the same tickets twice. The most realistic scenario would be a game vs slu to be played at the Scott trade followed by a return game the next season. I think we'd do it for those three schools. Not sure why people keep saying SIUC and Missouri st don't improve attendance. They almost always have a higher average than other non-conference games and last year our only sellout besides vcu was SIUC. We should play them both, particularly given that we aren't an attractive opponent for most teams right now.
