  1. I agree completely with this. I truly don't want a lot of attention towards the high school players. We coach them up and then they transfer up to a P5 team. Look at Schertz players from last year at Indiana State. True we were compliant in attempting to pirate those players but the first 2 even skipped over us and transferred to Texas for a apparent big pay raise I hate what the Division one scene has become, but it isn't going back. If we get a high school kid we better really want him and be willing to pay big. Considering high school recruiting at the Billiken level has always been about finding potential and hoping for developing that potential. Now we're going to be developing it so they can go somewhere else when they finally reach the production level? No thank you
  2. That's the hardest I have laughed at anything SNL for about 20 years. Atta girl Caitlyn!
  3. You are wrong on Goodwin. Ford was at Goodwin practices workouts and summer games almost daily after ford got hired. Ford recruited goodwin
  4. admittedly i have only watched Avila on TV a handful of times this year. IMO, he is a surprising star. Watching him, he doesnt overwhelm you with high flying dunks or blocked shots into the stands, or blinding speed on fast breaks. However at the end of the game he fills the stats chart, he has more assists than what team's big guys normally has, his shooting percentage particularly from the three point line is pretty much unheard of for a big. imo he is Nicola Jokic in the making. I guess jokic is a product of the Schertz offense as well. Jokic wouldnt be anything without being a product of the Schertz offense. right? i love Avila. he plays basketball the way the game is supposed to be played. i want him to be a billiken so much.
  5. would seem like the best choice. both would seem to be desparate to fill the spot.
  6. wouldnt it be something if ford falls into this? i find it hard to believe but if everyone is afraid of the expectations and pressure, who knows who they might resort to being their next coach.
  7. somehow they would have to free up a roster spot. no idea what their individual players remaining contracts are currently. you would sure think so. they obviously like him considering he is playing over their main roster players now. that said, Ja comes back next year as well as marcus smart and derrick rose. that's a lot of former star power that goodwin would have to battle for floor minutes. he might be better looking for another team that is in need for a guard. you can bet scouts from other teams have noticed.
  8. wow would never expect a statement like the above from you. havent you been awarded the most negative and pesimistic billiken fan like 8 years in a row?
  9. one of my alltime favorite movies. thanks for the smile tonight Brian!
  10. Schertz should take his tennis racket to the game and blast a serve to the catcher.
  11. and i am saying you and i dont know the whole story of the true scenario. we are all guessing to a great extent. what matters is the end result. and from my view it is a home run. the fact Chris May is still here and taking a very active role in the roll out of the red carpet and handling all the public work, i would say he was the one swinging the very successful bat. but again just a guess. we dont know. but it sure seems silly to continue with the bashing he endured all year long in my opinion. if half of that was true he would have gotten fired.
  12. so when your production drastically falls off the boss has to stick to his support statement from months ago? what if you had a teacher that went from award winning to slacking off, sleeping in class, unfairly disciplining kids, just not a good teacher anymore. you still going to stick by that award you gave them the year before? how do you know that this year there were not discussions between ford and may about the obvious fail in process? as to the deal, i agree thanks to our society becoming a world of litigation and loopholes, it isnt a deal until signed sealed delivered. that still doesnt mean that schertz didnt verbally agree. and if you read my above follow up post, it only goes to show that schertz is a man of character and a man of his word that he stuck by it even though over the course of the NIT his popularity exploded. only goes to show may did his homework and found the man that was best for the position. i just dont understand why you folks continue to play the "may is worthless card" when all signs point to the fact he did a very complete job on this whole process.
  13. 13, you are a good poster and i love reading your takes and comments. but i think you got this one wrong.
  14. the backdoor layup is the difference. uconn used the weave to start the play. ford did nothing but waste time with the weave. it's like he fell asleep in the weave class and missed the part about what can be done off the start of the weave.
