Recruiting - 2016

Recommended Posts

We haven't started a "Recruiting - 2018" thread yet, so I'm posting this here. Vianney has a 6'7" freshman named Carte'Are Gordon that just led them to an upset of Justin Tatem's reigning state champion CBC team in district play. This kids isn't finished growing. I have been told that he was a serious contributor for Vianney down the stretch.

We often hear kids say that SLU got into their recruiting well after they heard from other schools. Maybe we should get in at the start on this kid. I'm not saying extend him an offer. I'm just saying have someone from the team should contact him and say that SLU is interested and that they'd like to watch his progress over the next two years. Seems to me that just something that simple can stick with a kid. Not sure why being first on the seen is important to some guys, but it seems to be. You always hear recruits talking about schools that were on them from the start.

I heard Gordon thought about playing for WG with his brother, but Blossom and Websters practices were "to hard". And like I said with Ramey who has already been to some SLU games.

SLU has already shown interest. CC was at the Vianney-SLUH game to watch the young stud. He brought his daughter and stayed the entire game. Representation is there - don't worry.

This kid was mentioned on here earlier: Unique McLean. I just watched his highlight video and he reminds me a bit of Justin Love. 6-1 with what appears to be a D-1 ready build. Looks pretty impressive on the highlight reel, but then again, who doesn't?

i like what i see. looks a legit 6'1", has a very smooth left-handed stroke, appears quick, has unique name, can stuff it.

yet to be seen if he can pass or not, but i'm finally excited about a recruit a little bit.

Althoff just beat two-time defending state champ Morgan Park to advance to the Illinois Class 3A state title game. Those kids from Althoff can really play. I'd love to see Gooch and/or Goodwin (2017) in a Billiken uniform.

+1. I think Goodwin was an assist short of a triple double. I think we recruited some kid from Althoff awhile back, Lisch or something like that.

Althoff's team is impressive. They really share the ball and pass well without hesitation. Goodwin may end up being Donnie Dobbs. Gooch has long arms and handles the ball well. He is thin, but not skinny like Bartley and Gillman. He looks like he will develope muscle. I'd gladly take both of them.

Both Ferguson and bateman are imo going to be better than gooch. Like I said I'd take all four.

Bateman is about the best outside shooting prospect from the area since claggett.

Ferguson does it all. And is the most complete player of the four.

If goodwin Develops An Outside Shot To Go With THE Rest Of His game He Is bigtime. He is a ferocious rebounder and with the ball just gets to the rim.

Gooch is a good rebounder and defender. Incredible reach and plays bigger than his size.

It's really hard for me to evaluate Gooch at his present toothpick size. If he can gain muscle in college, we may be looking at a fundamentally different player. He is outplaying taller, stronger kids at 6'6 170. What's he going to do as a 6'7 200lb college swingman?

Chaminade lost today in a shocker in the state semifinal.

If Tatum can't lead his high school team with all those D1 prospects to the championship game, how can some of you expect him to lead SLU to the NCAA Tournament?

To be clear, I think Tatum is an incredible talent and I really want to see him in Billiken blue. That said, you bring up an interesting point.
