  1. Ha. That’s what auto correct does. (Went back and changed it - appreciate your comment.)
  2. https://www.scoopswithdannymac.com/gibson-jimerson-and-robbie-avila-the-kilcoyne-conversation/ FF to about 5 min for the start of the conversation with Jimerson. "It was like I transferred without transferring" Jimerson's comment on staying at SLU with a new coach and new system. Getting Bonner's point record is important to him. He knows Highmark, but not Clag or Bonner. He is focused on getting to the NCAA tourney. "That would be special." Proud of playing the best basketball at the end of this previous system, with everything that was happening. Last team talk with Ford was after the last A10 conference game. Wrapping up his master's program in Business Administration this month. He got this done in a year. Won't do anything more academically this coming season. Will focus on basketball. If there is an option professionally he will take it, but he isn't 'putting all his eggs into that basket.' Avila at 20 min. Obviously following Schertz, and his trust in Avila, was a huge factor. Was recruited by mid-majors out of high school, particularly Valley Schools. His final choice was between UNI and ISU. Awesome to continue playing with Swope. All 5 ISU starters had talked about staying together, but it didn't happen. "It's bigger than the money"...his comment on the portal. He knew he was following Schertz when he entered the portal. Likes the Champion's Center and Chaifetz being available. He hasn't met Dr. Chaifetz yet, even though he is a Chicago guy just like Avila. He has not met Larry Bird either. Thinks his game is similar to Jokic and Domantas Sabonis and Kevin Love. His Dad started coaching him on dribble, pass, and shoot early on. Goal is nothing short of an A10 championship. Excited to use his player profile with goggles as a platform for young players who need googles. NIL for Goggle company is coming. Likes "Rob Way" and "SLU Alcindor" for nicknames. [South Side Chicago White Sox baseball fan.]
  3. Look at Schertz's other two years at ISU. It was different.
  4. And he ended up at 36%. It happens. If half our shots are from behind the arc, I'd like another proven shooter on the roster.
  5. I'm looking at actual production, not extrapolated production. Besides Avila, Jimerson and Swope, minutes per player for next season are wild guesses. Those three will have high usage. I would like to see more proven rebounders on the roster. Maybe that's just me. (BTW, I'm a huge fan of Thames. I'm certainly hoping he has a stellar season.) I'll also state that with 1/2 shots behind the arc, rebounds are less predictive. Missed three pointers typically aren't rebounded right at the rim.
  6. Good question. I'm looking at last season. That's a pretty good sample size for me. I don't look at HS stats either.
  7. Rebounders, Shooters and Rim Defenders/Shot Blockers ISU took 50% of their FGA behind the arc. On the roster today we have four 36% three point shooters and one 39% shooter. Need another high 30's / low 40's. With today's roster, I'm not seeing where the boards are coming from. Avila 6.6 and Thames 3.7 lead the pack. It would be nice to have someone who could average 8 or so. The 45 total blocks last season from our current roster isn't enough. Last season the Bills had 101 blocks, which wasn't sufficient. Neither Thames (4) nor Hughes (3) showed much blocking the rim. Avila had 24 blocks, Jimerson 7, Casey 6, Swope 1 and Dotzler 0.
  8. Hunter didn't play last season. Broke his foot in October. He was in the portal last season (before his injury) committed to Butler and then reneged and stayed at Central Ark.
  9. In an early interview with Bernie, Coach said he can adapt his style to the player on the roster. He mentioned a starter at LMU, Emanual Terry who had a cup of coffee in the NBA, but he couldn't shoot or pass, but was a runner and a great rim protector and defender.
  10. Turnbull was recruited to Butler by the now Evansville Coach Ragland. Hence the connection to the Aces.
  11. OT. Spent some time in Omaha earlier this month. That’s a very nice city. The zoo is top notch but very expensive. The soccer stadium, Schwab Field and CHI Health Arena are impressive. Walking across the MO River on the pedestrian bridge was a must do.
  12. If you don’t care about his performance at Creighton, that’s fine. One or two may care about what he did last season. He pretty much has a clean slate coming here. But thanks for your thoughtful feedback.
  13. I don’t know anything about Dotzler but I did look at his stats. He only got 77 minutes total last year, 28 min against Big East opponents. That’s not much exposure. He made 3 of 11 three pointers. He had 3 assists total. Let’s see what he does next season.
  14. Both Camren and Cameron sat out last season with injuries.
