  1. I was at the game in Charleston and Frerick was definitely having problems. Everytime he went to the bench he immediately used his inhaler. He was clearly having breathing problems. This was the first time I saw the Billikens play this year and based on what I saw, the Billikens will have to win games with defense. We won't see much scoring in the paint as far as I can tell. West Virginia is not real physical but we had a tough time handling their big guys. Hopefully the Greek kid can help us.
  2. Don't you believe that this is a neutral game site. Ask Florida who came into Charleston last year ranked in the top 5 and came out a loser to WVU. There will be 10,000 fans in the Civic Center tomorrow night and almost all of them will be cheering for the Mountaineers. WVU will make it noisy with their cheerleaders and pep band. WVU is a young team and returns five starters and no seniors. They can be very good or very bad. WVU has several good 3 point shooters, especially their 6'10" forward, Kevin Pittsnogel. They have a slashing 2 guard by the name of Drew Schifino who could give the Bills fits. They also have a foreign connection in 6'6" Johannes Herber. He's the Chris Sloan of WVU. These are the main guys to watch; others are Tyrone Sally a young 6'7" forward, D'or Fischer a center from the JV ranks and of course Patrick Beilein, the coach's son. SLU can win but they must play tough defense. WVU has some height but their big guys don't carry much weight, so SLU needs to push them around inside with Fredericks. Defense and rebounding will win this game for SLU. Don't get in a shoot-out with these guys.
  3. The Charleston Civic Center may not be a campus site but it is cozy and noisy. Folks in Charleston are almost three hours from the campus arena in Morgantown and so many cannot typcally make a weekday game. I am sure the Charleston Civic Center will be packed with WV fans (capacity is probably only 8000 to 10000). Probably 99.9% of the fans will be cheering for WVU. My guess I will be one of only a few SLU fans. This is not a neutral site for the Billikens and West Virginia is not a push over. They have a young and experienced team and a top-notch coach that will give SLU all they can handle. Top players Pittsnogle - 6'11" center can shoot three like a guard, on USA Junior team last summer. Schifino - 6'5" small forward can go to the hole & create shots Herber - Not sure of height but tough, heady German player who can shoot
