New freshman mascot guy this season; he apparently is pretty good at what he does. Veteran with lots of experience from being a high school mascot.

3* recruit. Got calls from some big programs but Missouri valley were his only solid offers. I still have my doubts about him...not sure he's totally ready to make the jump to this level

Disagree. Our depth was a factor in this game tonight. N. FL went 7 deep and lost their legs in the second half. Playing 9 had nothing to do with the win. If we had played 10 or 11, we still win.

Last night it may not have been a factor but I know for a fact that there were more than a couple players last year who thought that the long, inconsistent rotation kept them from ever getting into a rhythm and playing to their potential. A couple of those players are key players on this year's team.

One poster a few pages back said MY played a good game. This goes to Billiken Roy's complaint about using initials-MY had a miserable game, even if he got 7 rebounds and obviously the coaches knew how bad he was since he sat much of the 2nd half, including the last part of the game when we pulled away-he seemed to be in another world tonight. Reggie was a beast under the boards. Don't know what game Hoosier was watching-as Billiken Roy said Miles was on their top scorer---#14. When Miles came out, Roby came in and also shut down #14, who picked up some points in garbage time-great job on "D", Miles and Davell. Obviously, Ash was a stud tonight, I just want to see him play this way on a consistent basis. A very exciting fun game to attend over a very good team.

Milik made 7 rebounds in 14 minutes of play, true he did not score but in a game that depended primarily on defense 1 rebound every 2 minutes is a fine contribution to the team, not a misearable game. Davel played 12 minutes, in that time he made 7 points but no rebounds. Neither of them were credited with assists. Both contributed significantly to the win. And both spent basically the same amount of time playing and warming the bench (Davel warmed the bench a bit longer than Milik did).

My turn, I was there, attendance was mediocre and the bulk of the students had apparently departed for Thanksgiving already. The band was about 20-25% understaffed.

Against all dire predictions, we won, we won by 13 (70 to 57). I have no access to statistics of the game until tomorrow, but coming into this game UNF averaged 86.7 points per game, tonight we held them to 55. This is very good. Defense was superb, we basically closed most of their 3 pointers. In the second half, when things were getting increasingly out of hand for UNF they were shooting 3 pointers that did not connect. UNF shot 20 3 point attempts and made only 5 of them (PD just reported this), an unheard of outcome for UNF. A very satisfactory game to see.

It appears to me that are using two basic lineups, the starters and the second liners (which are about as good as the first line), and two variations of the theme: We play with two bigs (Gillman and Neufeld in this game) or two smalls (Reynolds and Bartley). This results in a lot of possible shuffles that will probably confuse the opposition's defense. We can play against the zone! Not the usual passing on the outside and then shooting a desperate 3 pointer attempt that does not score at the last second, as we used to do. We blocked their 3 point shooters pretty well. We rebounded well, we were physical. All of these are positives in my mind.

Yacoubou was superb tonight. Reggie did very well by himself and handles himself well in furballs under the net. Miles was likewise superb in many different ways, including penetration to the net. Bartley, Gillman, Neufeld, Roby, Milik, Crawford, were very good and played very well as a team.

At the beginning, and up to the end of first half we were pretty even in scoring and only got ahead of them for a limited time. In the second half we had them. I think towards the last few minutes of the game, with a number of their best players at 4 fouls, they got a bit desperate and lost some control.

In all a very well played game by our team (not free of errors, of course) showing we are working well as a team against reasonably effective teams like UNF. I was very happy about this outcome.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

First of all you can go to the SLU AD website and within minutes you get the box score after the game. Second Milik did not have a good game - worse of the season for him. NFU had two players with 4 fouls and they played 33 and 32 minutes each plus most of their players who played over 30 minutes of the game did not have 4 fouls so foul trouble was not their issue - their problem I agree was that they wore down, we generally defended the 3 well and we killed them on the boards.

What about 3 or was it 4 horrible turn overs - getting a rebound is great but if half of what you got you gave back to them in turn overs I would say is not good.

I do. It would mean that we'd finish with a fairly respectable record, and it would be great for this young team.

Agree. Extra games like that for a young team are great. The CBI year under Majerus was versus a VCU team that went to the final 4 the following year. Of course we all know what John Cook did to SLU.

On a related note, I wouldn't hate an invite to the new Las Vegas 16. All games played conference tourney style in Las Vegas the same week as the sweet 16 games.

Agreed. We all get that the NIT or NCAA is better but the more this team wins and plays the better it will be for future years.

Cheeseman, always the fair, bias free, and knowledgeable poster! Well I did check the SLU AD website for stats (thank you very much this was very useful) and found the following:

Yarborough 2 TO, 1 A, 7 R

Roby 2 TO, 0 A, 0 R

Neufeld 2 TO, 0 A, 2 R

Bartley 1 TO, 4 A, 1 R

Agbeko 1 TO, 1 A, 9 R

Crawford 1 TO, 1 A, 9 R

Yacoubou 0 TO, 2 A, 10 R

Reynolds 1 TO, 4 A, 4 R

Gillmann 4 TO, 3 A, 0 R

Milik'a game was not terrible, he did contribute positively to the SLU win.

As you can see above you are entirely wrong in your call of the multiple and horrible turn overs committed by Yarborough. He had exactly 2 turnovers, no more than Roby or Neufeld and less than Gillman or Agbeko. However you in your "well informed impartiality" decided to bad mouth Yarborough by saying his rebounds were nulifiied by the 3 or 4 turnovers he had. Wrong baby, he only had two turnovers plus his one assist and 7 rebounds which leaves him in the (+) column, and not worse than most of the other players.

Please check your facts before you post insults to our players. I presume you are in deep thought since last night about how to spin this "terrible game by Milik" into a major failure for Crews. All I can say to you is: keep on thinking baby, JC is doing just fine so far this year. Happy Thanksgiving to you and enjoy your turkey.

If we end up a CBI team we should turn it down and act like we have been there before - I do get your point.

Give me a break, this team hasn't been there before. Give me all the games and some positive juju heading into next season.

Also discussing a potential CBI bid 4 games in is actually kind of great this board is ????

Speaking od Gillman I thought he has a strong game, especially the second half. He was placed at the free throw line extended and we continually moved the ball thru him. The ball did not stick and he would find the open man. Calling him a point center might be a stretch but he does have good court vision.
