If Goodwin could jump like Jett or was 6'5 like Evans or had a mid-range game like Roosevelt Jones, I'd have no reservation with offering him as a sophomore. Right now he's a 6'3 below-the-rim player who scores half his points on post ups. Just show me consistent game outside of 5 feet. I don't think that's too much to ask of a 6'3 kid you're offering as a sophomore.

Fair enough, how frequently do you watch him play? You would say Rose Jones has a mid-range game?

Jones lives off of 8 to 12 footers.

I admit that I don't watch Butler that often, but I thought his game was mostly penetration and shooting floaters and that his shot was really jacked up.

Regardless, I think Goodwin showed a lot of what you are looking for in the state tournament this spring.

According to the IlliniLoyalty message board, Illinois has offered almost 30 kids in the next two classes for 6 slots. They've offered the current top 7 in-state kids in the 2017 class. Could be 50 offers before its all over. I think SignGuy is getting an offer next week. You still got some eligibility left, right Steve?

30 to 50 "offers" for only 6 scholarships means nothing more than we like you, we are following you and we might actually give you a real scholarship if.... And if I am correct, then who says SLU hasn't also said this? And I would not be surprised if SLU said this first or a long time ago.

Again, my comments truly mean nothing but I do believe that many recruits and their families/friends/advocates are really just caught up in this game of collecting the most number of "offers" and then pound their chest for the world to see if they receive such an "offer'. Then, if the "offer" doesn't come or is slow to come, they spread negative crap about coaches and schools who don't stroke their guy's ego and publicly give him the "offer" to share with his friends, family, etc. Wow, I am just glad I am not in this line of work!!

I've never seen him, but based upon what I've read .. I'm with you. Sanjay Watts a fair comparison?

I don't know. Is he quick? Can he put the ball on the floor and attack the basket?

I have no idea. I just thought if Illinois thinks he's worth a scholarship, they must see or think something we don't. They could be wrong or we could. Just asking

His biggest downfall at this point is his shooting. If he develops an outside shot (which I would argue is the easiest attribute to improve on in basketball) then his being 6'3" (possibly still growing, too) is irrelevant. I think his athleticism is much improved from his freshman to sophomore year so I can only assume that's only going to get better as he continues to get stronger. From the sound of things (basing this solely off Twitter reports) he's having a really good summer for the Eagles.

Athletically and on the boards, sure. They also were impact post players from day 1. But Goodwin is a better ballhandler and much better passer.

The 2017 class has a number of intriguing prospects. Some of them may even be better college players than Goodwin. Nothing strange about that ---kids mature at different rates. To the board in general, let's revisit this conversation in a year. I bet you it will be a very different conversation. It won't be fixated on one player.

jones did not in high school. there would be some games he would rarely dribble. Jones was more "beneath the rim" than goodwin is now as only a sophomore. And most of his points were put backs and layups. He was very good but imo goodwin is ahead of where Jones was as a sophomore.

Plus, It is the rare game goodwin doesn't dunk 2-3 times. I don't consider him any kind of David thompson Skywalker but he is no slouch leapingwise. Ferguson is a better leaper and a better shooter but overall goodwin is the better basketball player

Carte'Are Gordon has apparently transferred to Webster according to a Vianney kid

Thanks for passing along. Doesn't his brother play for Webster? Will he be able to play immediately? Webster will be fun to watch the next few years with Gordon in the post and Ramey running the point.

In Illinois you can always go private to public without sitting out. However to go public to private you sit unless you physically move residency across district borders.

Normally not in Missouri. If you can prove some type of hardship you may be able to get a waiver. Just going to another school because you want to won't do it. Now if you can show your parents lost their job and you can not pay the tuition that would work or if the school had suspended you for some reason or they would be willing to write a letter saying it would be in your best interest for whatever the reason you could claim you have no other choice.
