Recruit

Recruit (1/7)

  1. Hoopmasters.com is reporting that three players at Kentucky have asked for their release. Since I don't subscribe to that website I have no idea as to their identities. Can anyone out there come up with the names? SLU Fan
  2. St. Mary's is pretty shrewd in their recruitment of Australia. According to their AD who was interviewed at halftime in a recent game, St. Mary's has an arrangement with one of the TV networks over there to pick up about 20 of their games for broadcast so that the Aussies can see the team play. Smart thinking there. It would behoove SLU to try and get a home and home series with St. Mary's to try and tap into that exposure. It would be good PR for our program as well. SLU Fan
  3. Sorry to be delayed in adding my seats to the chart. We have been out of town. I too thought the seat selection process was a class act!! My date to chose was June 5th at 2:16 pm. My seats are in section 113 row P, seats 13 and 14, and section 114 row P, seats 1 and 2 - these 4 seats are directly across an aisle from each other. Looks like "Iggy" and I will be swapping spit at the games!! SLU Fan
  4. There is an announcement on the Billiken Sports Page that Floyd McClain has left the University and the Basketball program. This opens up another scholarship for Brad to fill. It will be interesting to see if Brad fills this scholarship now or holds it until next year. SLU Fan
  5. I have seen Matt Shaw play about three times now, against quality competition. He catches your eye with how focused he is on the court.I have never seen him not hustle on each and every play. IMO, he is very athletic, runs the court extremely well, has hops and anticipates the ball in rebounding very well. His shot from 10 - 12 feet in is deadly. If he were 6'8", I have no doubt that we would not be in the running for his services. Would I offer him a scholarship at this time? Yes I would based on what I have seen. He is and will be a credit to each and every uniform and program that he is a part of. Now, that being said, I have not seen Taj Gray or any of the other prospects that the Billikens are looking at for the 4 position. I have to trust Brad's judgment as to who he sees will best fit that position. For all we know he may be looking at a foreign player or players as well for that slot. The fact that he is still considering Shaw this deep into the recruiting period indicates that he does see a serious prospect here. I have heard a rumor that Shaw's brother, who plays for Rolla I believe, grew two inches his senior year in high school. If that is true then who is to say that Matt couldn't do the same. Either way, it will be a tough decision for our coaching staff, since he is well known by so many of us and is a "local" kid to boot. It seems that we need to recruit one or two more from this class locally to remain a viable force in this area. Hope it works out for Matt and the Billikens.
  6. Thanks Central Fl Billiken for the updates. For those of us not able to be there, your accounts are helping keep us abreast of recruiting targets on the coaches radar screen. Was Brad or a member of his staff at the Thursday games as well watching the Eagles? I hope so because the more exposure that Brad has of Shaw, the more he's going to like his hard nose, intense style of play. Keep the reports coming and I hope that Shaw continues his fine play because I also would like to see him wearing the blue and white of a Billiken uniform. Anyone have any info on how Luke Meyer and the Gateway AAU team are playing this summer? Thanks.
  7. I saw IO on campus last week and he told me that he was leaving for home on Sunday and would miss the last week of scrimmages at the Rec Center. I guess everyone else takes off later this week for home and rest prior to the start of the Fall Semester. Can't wait for the official practices to begin in October, as well as the names of all the Fall signees in November.
  8. I would add Luke Meyer to your list of local recruits that the coaching staff is looking at currently. With the Polk commitment, Brad still has two scholarships available for this Fall's recruitment period. SLU Fan
  9. For those of you who would like to get an early read on a couple of next year's recruits, try attending the All Star game on Saturday, June 28th at Fontbonne. Darren Clarke and Bryce Husak are scheduled to play in that game, per information from out coaching staff. Am not sure of the starting time of the game or the cost to attend. SLU Fan
  10. Anyone have any stats on Luke Meyer from this past season? How about height and weight, quickness, hops, etc? It would be interesting to know if Stanford is looking at anyone in front of Meyer and/or if they have offered him a scholarship? Will he be playing in this area with his AAU team anytime soon? Thank you. SLU Fan
  11. I have heard rumors that our coaching staff thinks very highly of Luke Meyer. Where does he fit in this mix? He was supposed to have visited Stanford recently. Anyone got any information as to how his visit went and whether or not he is high on their list of recruits? Thank you. SLU Fan
  12. It's been reported on this Board that SLU has offered Luke Meyer. Does anyone have any update on his status and who else is recruiting him? I have heard that Stanford is looking at him, but don't know if he plans to visit there or not? Has he visited SLU and where would he fit into the recruiting mix? Does he play on any AAU teams in the area? Thanks. SLU Fan
