SLU Basketball On TV Early Friday Morning

Recommended Posts

The replay of SLU basketball against North Texas and George Washington will be on FCSC, channel 220 on Charter Cable, starting at 1: 00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.

It was completely forgotten by most fans, but we barely won that North Texas game and they were a horrible team. Amazing how much better the team was in the second half of the season over the first half. Hopefully it was more a matter of Crews and the players better meshing than Kwamain coming back. I'm afraid we'll miss KM more than we realize.

Wouldn't you agree that there were more factors at play than KM's absence?

Loe got much better as season went on, as did Dwayne.

But I share your fear.

Plus the impact Grandy starting had on the team...

Good point. North Texas also underachieved greatly, and typically when teams like them are underachieving they shut down about half way through the year.

I remember the buildup to that game was Tony Mitchell, and they ran plays away from him late.

Tony Mitchell is an all time bust. Right up there with Lawrence Phillips, Erick Johnson, (the blues 1st pivk) Paul Coleman, (cards took him before frank.thomas) and Brad Soderberg.

I wouldn't write that book just yet. He's going to be picked in the first round of the NBA draft this summer so he'll have a second chance at things.

We also really struggled against Savannah State and may have even been losing with a few minutes to go. That would have been a disaster. I think that was KM's first or second game back.

Regarding the loss of KM, I have thought about it and it probably would be a good topic for a thread. There was a lot of fretting about losing Conklin a year ago and we came through it just fine. Strong programs, which I hope we are becoming, consistently find ways to replace good graduating players.

There were many games ealy in the where we didn't have both KM and Carter, so we were essentially just playing with two true guards. That was putting a LOT on JJ and MM, plus I think there was an adjustment period with Crews. The big key for next year is if McBroom can be a quality 3rd guard. There can't be a big drop-off when he comes into the game. That was one of the big advanatages we had when KM came back. One thing I am encouraged about is there were a lot of games when KM was our 3rd best guard - New Mexico, Butler & VCU at our place are a few games where we played great and KM wasn't a big factor. KM did start to find his groove late in the season - LaSalle game and in the A-10 Tourney.

I'm afraid the bigger void to fill is the loss of Cody. Even if he wasn't hitting his shots, his presence really allowed us to space the floor and create driving lanes for our guards and room in the paint for DE to do his thing.

I'm watching the replay. One of JM's better showings. Now, I seem to remember someone saying he suffered a mild concussion sometime after this game. I wonder if that impacted his playing time and effectiveness going forward.

Absolutely, it shut him down for 2 or 3 weeks. By the time he returned, our rotation with GG had begun.

I believe whether JM advances and our guards figure out how to pass to a 7 footer who won't scramble to floor like Loe will tell more about whether we advance beyond getting to NCAA tournament

I heartily agree. The only point guard we had who seemed to cough it up to VCU was Kwamain. MM also deferred to KM in situations where I'd have been happier if he didn't. If we get any production from AM I don't see us truly missing KM that much. Cody, we might, especailly if Loe struggles from long range......

MM did defer to KM upon his return. Not going to knock KM, because of everything he did here and the courage he displayed in returning, but his departure should return MM's game to the level he started off with last season. Plus MM's comment about JD leads me to believe he wants to be the leader this season. I'm looking for him to bust out this year.

HATE HATE HATE

MIKE MCCALL... JUNYA.

This team is going to be a little more out of hand than people realize. MM, JJ and DE are all potential A-10 first teamers, on their own merit. Talented and EXTREMELY hard workers. Now we're hearing AM might be more talented than MM? Quicker, with a better jumper? If his work ethic is up there, too, look the fuok out.

Billiesssss...

Just next year????

Pu$$y!

+50/50

i fully expect us to be on crews control through at least the 2015/2016 season. what is that, 120 wins in a row or so? crazier things have happened. like women getting their own professional basketball league.

that being said, i'm off to red rocks to score hallucinogens. keep it real, barfbags.
