  1. Billiken Rich, I don't care who started the post and I certainly don't care why. If you think my comprehension is lacking than Billiken Roy must have ridden the short yellow bus to school. The article clearly states in the very first sentence what the "entire" article was about. That was the point of my post. I don't know why you are attacking me? Unless you were his bus partner. Let's face it this Ahearn issue is going to be a thorn in our sides every time he does something noteworthy at least for the next two years. I guess we just have to hope he doesn't get anymore national coverage. Because if he does we will have more threads like this where people get very nasty and defensive. Like me!
  2. "it is interesting that you and hardball only have posted on ahearn strings...." Interesting? How?
  3. "had that statment read "calls him a better free throw shooter than jj redick" i contend no one would have responded to the post. but the way you wrote it, i clicked on the link thinking some springfield reporter or someone else was trying to justify that blake was a better player than reddick."------------Billiken Roy 10 -25 - 05 Ohhhhh, Roy your back stepping again! Just out of curiosity when you did read the "whole" article and you finally "comprehended" what it was saying...even though the very first sentence in that article read..."The best free-throw shooter in college basketball history is an active player, and you have no idea who he is. You think you do, but you're wrong. It's OK. Blake Ahearn appreciates J.J. Redick, too."...and which clearly states the "main" subject of the article to anyone possessing good comprehension skills.... what was your reaction when you found out it wasn't just some little Springfield paper sport's reporter talking up a kid who goes to their hometown college...but instead...a NATIONAL COVERAGE piece? I mean your reaction when you finally digested everything the article was saying. Billiken Roy, I think your problem, other than your "sarcasm and comparison statements" and your constant quest for a freebee from Billphan and Triangle is that you take every little thing mentioned about Ahearn on this board as a personal attack on SLU for not recruiting the kid. Therefore, I have to agree with other posters that your attacks on Ahearn are personal. Why? I don't know? Only Billiken Roy knows for sure. Regardless, I really don't see how you cannot admit..."comprehend" perhaps a better word... that this is quite a feather under our "local" kid's cap. Instead you are too busy defending SLU's reasons for not recruiting him. Get over it Roy, most of us have.
  4. Billiken Roy, if that is the case than why the comparison and not just come right out and say what the heck you meant? I have never known you to post using cryptic messages before. Thanks for the heads up on how to read your future posts.
  5. The Ahearn issue is mute now and should be put on the back burner once and for all. I do not believe this thread was started to bring up an issue that is totally meaningless at this point. Is not the "real" issue here about a local kid that has done good? Billiken Roy, you can back step all you want but your comment comparing Ahearn's accomplishment with some guy who makes free throws strictly for entertainment purposes and who probably never went to college was made as a contemptuous remark either about the "local" kid's accomplishment or free throws. Either way I personally translated your comment as down playing the importance of free throws in a game. According to this statement you made you are saying "free throws" big deal some guy makes 1000's of them and never played college ball. Well, hello, free throws are a "big" deal in the game of basketball. As I stated before they win games. Anyone who knows anything about basketball knows this. So if I translated your comment comparing the two, you tell me Billiken Roy, what were you "really" saying about free throws or about the St. Louis kid's accomplishment? Which of the two were you downplaying with your comparison? Free throws or "our" local kid's accomplishment?
  6. I just love it when Billiken Roy (Mr. Clark) and Billiken Rich (Mrs. Clark) accuses anyone who says something positive about Ahearn of being related to the kid. Nice. Intelligent. Good basis to back up your argument. Let's see, which Ahearn family member will I become Mr. Clark? Ahearn will always be referred to as "the one that got away" and I am sure he will not be the last one in Slu basketball history of who we should have recruited but didn't. But for some reason Mr. Clark can't seem to agree with that. That's his parental prerogative. But hey, we can't all be a Billiken Roy and know what's best for the team. I think to be first at anything in the NCAA is quite a feat. The fact that this kid is from our hometown makes it even sweeter. Free throws are as important as any other shot because they put points on the board and win games. I disagree with you Mr. Clark that anyone can make free throws with practice. Although practice does make perfect there are lots of people who practice but never perfect this skill. Apparently Ahearn has and to make a commentlike "it is great he is a good free throw shooter, but so is ted st martin and i dont think he even played college basketball" just shows how much you know about the game of basketball and the importance of free throws. Oh, by the way, I was an English major and it was very easy to comprehend what you were "really" saying in that comment. So, please, read that comprehension brochure yourself.
